well atm iam thinking about getting one my system is :
i7 2600k
16 gb ram
gtx 570
was always playing in HD on medium settings
since iam a FPS nut but lately with 12v12
it drops to 45 from 60-70 on some occasions.
Wich i dont really like
remembereing that this games HUD is a resource hog
iam in doubt if it helps to have that card bought

You have a problem with your current rig in that case. I get similar fps with my GTX470 using a combination of medium and very high settings (shadows and particles medium, PostAA off, everything else at max), from 38 min to 74max, 48 average. With my 6970 I run everything on max and get 55 to 65fps. That's with 8gb of ram and an i7 3770k (cpu will make little to no difference), so you should be getting around equal performance to my 6970 using your gtx570. I have a mate who runs a 570 (a pair actually but sli doesnt work yet for mwo) with an i5 750 and he gets 55fps+ constant with everything on max at 1080p. Your current setup should have no issues getting a minimum of 55-60fps with very good visuals, so id look into drivers, reinstall mwo/windows, update directx/c++/flash/java...whatever you need to do. Something is robbing you of a good 10fps there. GL! :(

OP, it's your CPU, not your GPU, causing those significantly sub-60fps minimums. Your GPU should easily be able to handle 60fps, and at better than medium settings.

My advice is to get a decent CPU cooler and OC your COU, before you even consider a new GPU. Once you've gotten it to 4ghz or so, you should be fine. That's about the point at which my 3570k holds 60ish minimums.

+1 to what Catamount said - you will see pretty much zero improvement by upping your GPU.

You paid extra for an unlocked 'K' model CPU, so make use of it!

You want to crank it to 4ghz as an absolute minimum. With my i7-930 (stock 2.8Ghz) OCed to 4Ghz and a GTX 660Ti, I still get drops to 30-40, even with everything on low. Swapping the GPU out for a GTX 560 does not make it worse.

When MWO gets DX11 support, this may change, but for now CPU power is what you need.

With a decent mobo and fan, you should be able to hit 5Ghz with that CPU.

Yep. Those damn Sandy Bridge chips OC like mad. I should have gotten a 2500k instead of a 3570k myself :/

Or... you could wait for the DX11 test that's possibly coming up this month before you decide on any upgrade since that's the direction the game's going.

Given the modest cost of a decent CPU cooler for modest OCing, I would advise going that route rather than waiting for the implementation of a DX11 client that hasn't even met the promise of being tested that we've been fed for like two months, let alone actually implemented in the normal game client that launched without 85% of its features (one in a laundry list of things we're still waiting for), especially since the OP has already paid for overclockability on their CPU by buying an unlocked K variant of the i7 2600 in the first place, and given that increased system requirements across the board are where gaming is going in general anyways.

Another +1 to overclocking

http://www.techreact...ridge-v0-1beta/

As far as coolers go, There are many great air coolers and some relatively inexpensive closed loop water coolers [such as the Corsair H80i] that can do wonders with the additional temps. Just be sure you know what your case can/can't fit before making any investments ^^

If u get a Corsaire H100i you should be able to hit 5ghz wihtout any heat issues, it will just be down to ur individual CPU's clock limits 9silicon lottery).

If u get a top end air cooler like the NH-D14 then again u may be able to hit 5ghz (if u can get it at a low enough voltage), and if not then somwherei n the region of 4.6ghz to 5 ghz should be possible.
i am able ot get 4.6ghz on a Nh-D14 on my CPU , and its effectly a 2600k with more cores and thus more heat output so yea. OC that CPU first, see if it helps.
Note: Dont bother with a AIO water cooler thats below a H100 (like a h80 or h60), as u would then be better of getting a top end air cooler. Unless ofcourse u dont have room for those massive dual tower heatsinks.

THEN decide on a GPU. A 770 is indeed better than a 570 but a 570 should be strong enough for MWO. MWO isnt exactly that hard on the GPU tbh. it may be CryEngine, but PGi isnt using no where near what the engine is capable of in terms of Visual fidelity.

Having an I5 2500K overclocked to 4.2 (very mild) with a GTX 650ti boost my FPS is 59-60 with dips to 55. Overclocking your cpu for improvements is definitely the way to go. Aftermarket cooler is needed but you don't need an expensive one for a mild overclock. I use a CoolerMaster Hyper T4 (about $25 usd) and temps in an a/c'd house never gets over 53 (57 while sun is shining on case in mid morning) while playing. If you don't use a/c (some of my friends don't) and your ambient room temp is high you will need a better performing heatsink.

Edit: 650ti not 560ti lol

I'm getting very similar performance from my 2600k and GTX560Ti's at 1080p I don't need more personally.

OP, I have a very similar rig - i7-2600K, GTX 560ti Classified Ultra (which is built on the 570 card and is nearly identical to it) 16 gigs ram... and I run the game with every setting at max and get a pretty constant 60fps.

And it's probably because I've got my CPU overclocked to 4.3Ghz instead of the stock 3.4(which goes to 3.8 with turbo boost). If you can, get a better CPU cooler and bump that puppy up to at least 4.2 (which is incredibly easy and can be done very simply by adjusting the turbo boost multipliers) and you should see a big improvement.

:) I've been hoping to hear something like this, and I'm horrified.

Does that number go lower with the IPC improvements in later CPUs?

OP: I'd nether spend money nor overclock 'till DX11 gets here. And "test server" doesn't count as "here" … :)

2nd gen can reach higher clock speeds than 3rd gen , and 3rd gen can reach higher clock speeds than 4th gen>
but....
4th gen are faster clock for clock than 3rd gen , and same for 3rd gen vs 2nd gen.

In the end once they are all OC'd u can expect somthing along the lines of:

2ndgen: 5ghz
3rdgen: 4.7ghz
4thgen: 4.5ghz

And each will perform more of less the same at those speeds.

My 3570k requires around 4ghz to get 60fps minimums, even if it does fairly well at stock clocks.

Also, he's already spent money to overclock. The very act of buying a 2600k instead of a 2600 is paying for overclocking. He might as well get the benefit. Given what we're seeing out of new games for system requirements ever since titles started being released for the new systems, it's also not going to hurt in general to bolster hardware a bit.

thx for the answers i have a pretty decent/good CPU cooler
Noctua NH-D14 paired with some inbreed chassi fans in my CoolerMaster HAF932
seems i will need to remove the dust again :D
i hate that part :/
^^

and then back to prime and memtest sigh  for ocing

but i will wait till the patch with the new LoDs mb that helps

I didnt thought the time to get that extra power from that K was so soon
totally forgot time *hugs his big rig* nohomo

People with 2nd Gen i series K CPU's should be laughing right now. They are really getting their moneys worth.
Reason being is that once u take into accound OC'ing, performance has increased by 0 as the new generations have been released.
So yea OC, then laugh and watch as the next generaton (5th = Broadwell) also has 0 performance gains. (it was announced that its got 30% better power usuage 'at the same performance levels').

Bah, don't bother with memtest. If it's "Prime stable", it's working, plain and simple. This is why K CPUs from SB onward are great. You just up the turbo multiplier, adjust voltage, vdroop (sometimes called other things), etc, as necessary, and go faster, no need to mess with bus speeds or RAM.

Moddern CPUs are so easy to OC, it almost takes the fun out of it.

your GPU is just fine. the cryengine is notorious for being CPU intensive, so upgrading your GPU won't help.

either buy a new CPU that fits your mainboard or as mentioned above, overclock you CPU. make sure to get a decent cooler first and read about the subject in the respective forums. you will loose any warranty entitlement by overclocking your system so be sure you know what you are doing.

my rig is so much worse than most of the stuff you guys have, but i am still wondering how you basically come up the same framerates. i must be doing something right :D. I am usually @ 40-49fps in the heat of battle (low settings except textures)

Specs: Intel Q9550@ 3,4GHZ, 8GB DDR2-RAM, Radeon HD 5770....

edit: DX11 is not going to boost the performance. what it will do is make the game look nicer, without hitting your performance at all. however i hope that the devs enable some of the nice high spec features of DX11, like tessellation. it has basically been 4 or 5 years since the last generation of DX9 GPUs. it is time for PGI to make the transition now
