The game currently has a very unknown future, so I couldn't bring myself to pre order. Buying MC as I need it is ok because it's not a future investment like a pre order.

I did,but only the $40 package.

Why?

I value mobility so the Hawk with its JJs will be worth it. The Locust? pffft. Junk. The other two? I'm not much for slow ground-bound units so neither of those do anything for me.

The latest 2?

The Griffin suffers from STNS (single torso neuter syndrome). All the weapons for the most part are on one side so take out that torso and it's done. If it is carrying XL then it's dead, and if it has a std engine then it's weaponless once the torso is gone. Not worth the money.

The Wolverine I can see being worth it ... maybe. But. By the time that package came out I had already decided that I cannot justify spending any more money on this until PGI can prove their competence by fixing the hit registration issues ... which still persist. That issue is a core of this game. Unless/until that is COMPLETELY fixed then this game isn't worth a dime.

I bought it ($80), asked for a refund, received my refund... and then bought it again because I have weak will and it is shiny. (Though the transaction isn't going... smoothly? I seem to have broken Ultimate Pay...)

I bought the Overlord package because I love new mechs and I want to support the game.

Overlord because 4 months premium and 4 cbill boosting mechs with 8 standard mechs is great value especially with mechbays thrown in for $80. Faction medallions are nice and all.

Sabre pack is similar in value but I am no big fan of medium mechs so I will most likely skip it. We will most likely see a similar program for the Clans come summer so no need to go overboard. Besides, most MMO's will cost about $200 a year from subscriptions alone.

I bought it because it's a really good deal. I don't care so much about the early access side of it, I would still have gotten it if it was available to everyone at the same time. But getting 4 hero mechs, 8 c-bill mechs, 12 mechbays and 90 days premium time? That's a really good deal. All the other stuff (colors, patterns and cockpit items) are just icing on the cake and wouldn't have changed my decision to purchase one way or the other.

I started playing MW when MW2 came out and never played the table top, so I don't have any nostalgia over these mechs either. They just look really awesome. I'm especially excited to play around with the Thunderbolt (which reminds me of a lighter Summoner/Thor) and Shadow Hawk. I primarily play Mediums-Heavys so the saber package was a no-brain-er.

Lastly, I really want this game to succeed and be around for a long time. I also think that the success of this game will determine if/when we see the next MechWarrior titles. So I'm more than happy to support the IP.

Bought both Overlord and Saber.

Why? Because I like the game. I've got a year's worth of value out of my Founders, and see no downside to buying some classic Mechs that also nets me some Premium and a few medallions that boost my LPs. Plus, it supports the game that I like to play. It's a win-win for me.

Didn't buy it because i'm very unsure of the direction this game is headed, and despite the big claims of what they say CW will be we've heard it all before. As it stands, we're still playing the same game we were in closed beta with the addition of a new game mode which is basically just assault with more bases.

So personally i can't justify giving PGI any more money at this point.

Well I bought the $80 pack with reinforcements. I bought right away so got the early bird bonus. Game time(4 months with early bird?) works out to $60 plus the mech bays so that's almost close to what you would pay without the pack before even factoring the mechs. A lot of mechs look kind of meh i'll probably sell most beside pheonix versions, maybe some before even unlocking elite.

What early game bonus? You telling me if you buy now you don't get the same stuff? That sounds very unfair.

80$ was a too good deal to not buy it. i´ll spend even more over time anyway, so why not for a great deal

4 heromechs alone are worth it, and with all the additional stuff i just couldn´t say no.

30 days additional Premium time if you bought relatively early(First month I believe).

Its virtual goods bought both packages, because I wanted to besically, and had the money to spare, while its is alot of money, it amounts to two weekends clubbing and drinking when I was younger, and I've nothing to show for it, but it was fun at the time.

Looking at alot of premium time, and gimmicks, also I felt that pay now hope for the best, was more likely to get the game further along the road, than it is now, where as if none had bought it the doors might have closed, also not having any intrest in the clans, I won't be buying any possible future packages, unless more unseen arrive.

lol if the yes vote stay around 80% and is a fair representation of the whole community, there are going to be an awful lot of phoenix mechs floating around next week.

Might have to call patch day Battlemaster Tuesday

No and I won't ever. The Phoenix Pack, and every other item in this game is utterly daftly priced. I would rather spend my money on something worthwhile, and certainly not on something so deceptively marketed! Oh but you get the mechbays too? And all that premium time? And the package is worth x gazillion $ when you convert it to MC and back again? The fact that the progress bar to unlock 'extra features' for the Phoenix pack is just an image is even more insulting.

Fools and their money...

And what shall they be spending their C-Bills on during the next 8 years as all those Mechs PGI promised them are slowly released to everyone else? The developers will need to invent yet another money sink! Good times.

I hold respect for PGI right up until the part where I'm supposed to part with my hard earned cash.

For reference, here is how to hype an upcoming micro transaction opportunity. If the developers of the game featured in the link followed PGI's rules, this new character would be at least $30, not to mention them asking the players to buy into the making of the video.

I bought Tier One and Two of the Phoenix Project. I want the BattleMaster and Griffin. But, I don't have the disposable income to buy two Mechs that I don't want and can't get rid of. I bought Tier One and Two of the Phoenix Project, because I wanted the Mechs and the extra perks that come with them. $20 per package for three Mechs, plus extra is a great deal.
