this model has absolutely no aesthetic

sure, the original TB never was a beauty queen, but the concept art looked nice,
now, the 3D-model is a clunky hulk, even the (oversized) lasers seem to be placed randomly

imo the most ugly MWO mech so far

1st off, not a single mech in mwo is 100% like the concept art (although the "founders" chassis are the closest)
so who ever bought the package based on the artwork and didn´t waste a single thought to the possibility of changes... well, they should QQ about themselves

but to the tbolt now:

i thought it was too fat from the concept art, and now it´s been confirmed: just too fat. i´ll stick with BM, SH and take a deep look into the Locust... well i guess even the TB will go for a testwalk as well, but it´s the last one on my "looking forward to" list, and has been since the concept has been published

You can put an erppc in the right arm and three large lasers in the left torso.

Sauna for the pilot...heavenly.

No underslung laser. Disappointed.

I think the least they could do would be to have a special edition of this mech with the underslung laser exclusively for the Legendary Founders.

Ugly IS an aesthetic all it's own.

The THUD is suppose dto be a primitive, ugly shambling monster. Mission accomplished. I'll save pretty for women and Ferraris.

I was hoping the cockpit was lower and sort of part of the chest rather then part of an actual head. I thought that's how it always was or am I thinking of another mech?

naw, it traditionally was mounted pretty flat with the shoulder and a little below.

I like how the Thunderbolt is turning to the camera and telling us about how big the fish was that he caught ;).

I like the Thunderbolt. I think all the Phoenix mechs turned out good design wise (scale still remains to be seen). I think MWO's mech designs were getting a bit stale lately, but it looks like they put a good amount of work into these. I approve.

It doesn't look any bigger than the Jagermech to me.

With the exception of the arms, which btw is a fantastic thing that they are so big and blocky so they can soak LOTS of damage as the majority of your weapons are in the torso (Or at least a good chunk) but the torso looks the same size as the jagermech to me.

So I am thinking even though it looks fat it's going to end up being a pretty decently scaled mech and another strong contender for heavies.

The longer I look at it the more I like it. I've always been a fan of the "ugly duckling" mechs, and this one fits the bill. The one part on this picture I'm not crazy about is the feet, they don't seem big enough to be stable, but in game I dont ever pay attention to any feet, so who cares.

Still a ugly hot mess if you ask me. I never liked the looks of a Thunderbolt even as I respected its load out. I think I could get to want one of MWO's Tbolts!

All it needs is a few dubs and it is all set to rule the world!

the 4 original mechs were close because they actually had time to put effort into making it like the concept. but now its popping it out day after day. especially these phoenix mechs, they had to double time them to deliver 4 on 1 day

Well actually they have been hiring additional modelers on a 4-6 month contract. Which I presume was for these Phoenix Mech's.

That's about where I am. Wasn't a huge fan of it at first (angles!) but I'm starting to even like the picture more... this might not be good.

They look like hooves to me. The Ironfoot while sort of appropriately named did lack clawed feet but at least had a bit more toe. Still not sure about the hands though, the SH/BM/Cent style seems like it would have made more sense. Less unique but that's not really a case where the design originally was unique like that.

Possible, plus ALL the older mechs that don't have module weapon appearances and the Clan Omnimechs which if like the originals; should have way more weapon permutations per spot to have to build

I like the new T-bolt.

I hated the underslung laser. The original doesn't have that, and tactically it makes shooting over cover harder. I am happy they went the way they did.

I was also worried that this mech would be as wide as the Awesome, but the pictures make it seem a bit more skinny, so I am happy with that change.

However, the even older concept art from Flying Debris for the re-seen Thunderbolt is still the best looking one. The T-bolt is a bit of a step backwards, even if that meant we get one closer to the original mech from Dougram. I actually prefer this more radical look.

due to lack of sized hardpoints, this is pretty much what I expect to see most "Pro" Thuds look like
