The Shadowhawk out of the 4 Mechs is the one with the weirdest scale lol.

It seems to be scaled from the Centurion in mind, which is already way too big.

Tonnage limits is a worse fix then ghost heat. You are basically just assigning people to the role of cannon fodder. Who the **** wants to play as cannon fodder every game so the big manly assault pilot can come in and get his free kills? Every groups best players will be put in heavies and assaults and all the less good players will quit... If you tried to implement this in the solo queue then wait times for drops will be over an hour unless you pick a medium. People won't get "forced" into something...they will just leave.

I don't see what's wrong with a tall skinny mech. It's like comparing a tall skinny person to a somewhat smaller wide person. The latter can be bigger just because it's wider.

I WAS excited for my Shadow Hawk. Now I want to cry. Why is it so so big?

That thing is more than 10% bigger than a cent, which is already weirdly large.

Which would be a great point, were it actually any skinnier. Sadly, it's (or it appears to be) just as broad shouldered as the cent, and is as thick or thicker pretty much everywhere.

More importantly, the Cent is already too big as it is and so are several other mediums, and this is one reason they are the bottom of the balance barrel at the moment.

Because a 55 ton robot has X life, where X is set by the weight, but spread on a surface area of a 70 tonner, that has Y life. In other words, it takes hits like the bigger robot, but dies like the weight class would suggest.

Imagine if the TF2 scout was as big as the heavy.

Compared to the others, this one looks unfinished, in fact the only finished looking ones are the Battlemaster and the locust. While the T-bolt and Shadow hawk are in various stages.

ALSO, Why no group picture for a better comparison and easy viewing?

Either pgi starts to inflate all models bigger than 55 tons or thex deflate those mediums. this starts to become stupid imo. your mileage may vary.

Its actually quite simple August55.

If a Shadowhawk is as tall as an Awesome Mech, its easier to hit, and yet can't mount the same armor as an 80 ton Assault Mech. Do you see the conundrum? Since we are playing Battle Tech in a real time, in the board game scale did not matter - you rolled to hit random area's, in Mech Warrior games we hit where-ever we want. A "tall skinny" Mech does not off set a disadvantage or give an advantage, which has failed for the Trebuchet.

I instantly regret not asking PGI about this in Ask the Devs.

When I first started looking at the Locust on Smurfynet, I realized they made the worst of all Locust variants a Phoenix mech.
"Oh well, at least I have the Shadowhawk as my other Phoenix mech. They wouldn't screw over both light and medium mech pilots, like they normally do"

GG, PGI.

I personally just gave up on caring about MWO the Devs/Devas wont listen have never listened to=(The Small minority on the forums) because were on a island. The unseen large majority which I don't think exists have the say in everything even mech scale mech attributes ETC.SO I will do what I have been doing just play from time to time check on what they do in the patches and pay for nothing because it all screwed up to a point I wont open my wallet. 1 year from now PGI----->>> Posted Image

Maybe the intention was that since they're such a big part of the phoenix package, they should make sure you got your money's worth?

Pay for a 55 tonner, get a 15 tons added for free.

Mhm...that...actually makes sense! ;) :(

You're right. I can always play the game walking sideways. Will look like a leaf from the side and can't shoot, but hey, at least skinny. :)

what a tall mech, it looks like its even taller then thunderbolt which is quite strange. how can be this that much taller then centurion and thunderbolt looks like its same high as cent ? shouldnt it be vice versa?

If the SHawk was a little thinner, I would really like the scale. The Shadow Hawk is supposed to be a Medium sniper, hence the shoulder-high cannon and various BT fluff putting it in the mountain-goat sniper role (JJs+tall profile+snipey AC/5).

That being said, the shoulders are REALLY wide. The torso could use a 3%-5% decrease in width as well.

I was hoping to see a Medium with slightly-thicker-than-a-Hunchie arms and a lanky profile. Instead we have...the Quickdraw of the Medium class. :/

I love Mediums, but they are getting really really masochistic with each addition. Waste of PGI's limited resources to make them so tall. If I were them, Id release Medium Mechs as a little smaller than they should be, since it's a bit easier to upscale than it is to downscale (Oh, the mech isn't wide enough? Add a couple of random armor sections to the torso. Too short? Add an extra section to the thigh.) But now that they've made these mistakes, either the pilots of these machines are going to have to get real creative to survive, or they're going to have to die again and again and again...before giving up on MWO. :/

Well I was comparing it to say, a Doom 2 revanant (our Shadowhawk) and a mancubus (say our Awesome). Taller doesnt mean it needs more health. It just means it's taller. A smaller somewhat skinnier mech can easily have more health than a shorter wider mech. I don't see the big deal here.
