I'm guessing most of us have work to do before we can start playing this game. I am at absolute ground zero. My PC can't play this game and can't be upgraded to play this game. (long story)

So here's my ask. I built PCs for 10 years back in my youth (remember the 386?) so I know a little of how this works.

Can someone come up with a list of components that fit in the range between minimum and recommended? - preferably with "market" price points.

If we can maintain this list through and after launch we can help the developers make this game more accessible to everyone. Heck we can even get them to sign off on the list.

From there I just found a barebones kit with a PSU, Case, Motherboard and was golden. However, upon browsing newegg, I found some pretty good deals for barebones kits the only required either ram or a GPU.

There is my build, built it about 1 month ago, cost me about $700 shipped to my door. I'll get some links and some alternate parts (some of the stuff i bought was on sale at the time) and exact model numbers in the like, here in a minute.

I don't know what you want to spend, but you can do a from scratch build from Tiger for about $700. That's i5 quad, 8GB ram, take your pick of vid cards, 500GB HDD, and all the base goodies. Honestly, it's not a bad price for a from scratch pc. I'll link you one or two.

Depending on what you want to build, then your choice of cards. I built three of those exact i5s for a company and they're absolutely in love, then built one for my roommate with the GTX550Ti and he's not been able to find anything to slow him down yet. My personal computer is a 6 core with 12GB of ram and a GTX550i and the build was only about 1k. All depends on how insane you want. The GTX690 is out, if you want to spend $1200 on a video card. XD

Just a heads up. if you are building a rig with longevity in mind, the 1156 socket has just been replaced with the new hotness 2011 (intel) This does mean that the 1156 still has a lifespan but they will more than likely not be hitting the 6 core any time soon if at all. (unless you get a server core)

Now also mind you, anything in the 2011 socket right now is fairly spendy.

Less than $100 (just barely) and it's a 1GB DDR5, though if you're going to spend it, I'd spend the little more for the 550Ti. Hope that helps. lol

I have an amd fx-4100, 16gb ram, a 550ti and a 210(for physx) and nothing has dented it's performance yet. Although, running games like the new Deus Ex, etc. maxed out does cause fps to dip to the 28-32 range, which means soon, there will be games that push it down below the 24fps range, which is the limit of perception for the human eye, and where you can start noticing chop.

This is one reason why I mentioned it. That and someone mentioned just getting a shelf computer and improving it. Even if you get the i7, chances are they are gonna give you the "smaller" socket to save production money.

Is what I just built for a buddy of mine 2 months ago. Price ended up being about 150 bucks less then that with mail in rebate. Those in the US could likely find all this cheaper as we get screwed in the north for stuff like this (and cars, books, mags etc etc).

He loves his new machine. He has no problem playing anything with graphics at least on high, most on very high.

I highly recommend the i5-2500k, it's awesome bang for the buck, and in some benchmarks it does beat the equalivant gen i7. It is very easily and safely overclockable with most motherboards built in tools. If you do have a bit of extra cash I very much recommend a SSD. They provide a massive improvement on games that do client side loading. My PC will boot up faster then my monitor takes to turn on. A modular power supply is not required but it is nice to not have all those extra cables taking up room (and air flow space). The one I listed is a partially modular Pwr supply.

If you keep an eye out on new egg, tigerdirect, ncix etc etc you can usually scoop some pretty decent deals. While the mail in rebate can be a real pain in the rear armor, they are worth doing. You will always save a ton of money putting a PC together yourself. It's not hard, most things fix in only one place. However due to the cost of some parts I do recommend getting someone who knows about ESD, and which way the RAM goes in. RAM will fit in the wrong with enough force, I've seen it and it's impressive and non functional.

Being required to have 4 gig of ram is a bit much .Scince I only got half that much all I can say is have fun .
There are plenty of other games my comp has no issues with . Hope they didnt just wipe out half their players.

The recommended specs they mention aren't even close to cutting edge tech for current computers. You can get on off the shelf comp from Hewlett Packard and other comp mfr's. Shop around, order one with min 8 MB ram and get a video card upgrade to any card released in the last year and you are good. I know this sacriledge but I would strongly suggest you consider what else you can use this comp for other than MWO to guide your selection. Save some money on the comp and invest in a uber router/modem with excellent internet, (Cable if possible).
