2nd note: this is for a non overclocker who just wants to build this machine to play the game. If you want overclock please switch to a K series cpu or AMD.
CPU: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16819115074 i5 2400 ($190)
Motherboard: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813131781 asus z77 for upgrade to ivy bridge if you want ($125)
Case: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16811146085 NZXT phantom ($100)
RAM: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820231428 G.skill ram ($46)
PSU: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817139020 Corsair 650W ($90 for now)
HDD: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16822152181 samsung ($60 err its on sale today, you might need to find another)
SSD: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820233204 corsair 90 gb bootdrive n whatnot ($100)
Optical: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16827135204 asus ($17)
GPU: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814131466 Powercolor 7870 for ($330)
Overall this is a decent machine that'll put you back around $1,100, though if you want to go through all those rebates, its around $1,020. The machine can be kinda guaranteed for around 50 fps on the cryengine 3 for crysis 2. So if you need anything more in the overkill range, let us know.

Something a bit faster for gaming for $950 without OS;
Case: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16811148060
PSU: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817207013
Motherboard: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813157266
CPU: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16819106010
GPU: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814125423
RAM: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820103006
HDD: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16822152181
ODD: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16827135240
And yeah price goes up on that HDD, but the whole thing will stay sub- $1000.

I picked that PSU because i thought a CF 7870 wouldn't exceed that amount.... at least i thought.
BUT THE SSD!!! what will i do without it??

A CF 7870 won't exceed it, no. Heck a 550w could probably do it, although I would prefer the peace of mind with the overhead.
And eh, SSD doesn't help out with gaming save for load times... Though we can toss this in for same priced systems and mine will still be faster; http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820226247 $70....
And we can take off $25 if we go with this motherboard + CPU combo on mine...

I gotta admit i picked a few parts based on personal perf. The case, psu, and SSD were all picked based on the fact i like the quiet case, future cf potentional, and my 60 gb ssd filled up too fast.

well for that we can keep the same price point with mine with this;
Case: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16811146075 -5
SSD: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820226290 +20
PSU: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817182200 -$15
A little less power efficient, not quite as good cooling, but quieter and with SLI potential, with the larger SSD.

I visit there a lot...
Though it is still cheaper just to build your own. The price on their GPUs above a 6870 / 7770 is nuts. And anything but a basic 4100 is overpriced on the CPU.

there isn't much difference between chips. Keep in mind, an FX-4170 is slightly faster than a Phenom II X4 980 at stock.
And as you can see here in a Passmark score; http://www.cpubenchm...-4170+Quad-Core
The FX-4170 outperforms the i5-2500k in price / performance.
The FX-6200 is a better deal, performing slightly better than a 1100t for $160, although lower threaded games will be slightly slower.
Then we see here;
Conclusion; Better threaded games favor bulldozer, games running havok or are lightly threaded favor Intel.
AMD is cheaper, you can overclock at lower price points, and have a better upgrade path, plus you get more motherboard features.
So either is fine in the end. Though generally for games you're better off going for a better graphics card at 720p and above than worrying about your CPU. that $70 difference between an i5 and an FX-6200 is much better off going for the next step up GPU in the end, until you hit the Geforce GTX 670 / Radeon HD 7970 level.
As you can see here;
See much of a difference whatsoever on the CPU side save for that dual core A4?
I love people saying I'm lieing to my customers - when I'm not - hell do I even need to pull out Hardocp's event with AMD's Reality Check?
http://www.legitrevi...article/1838/1/
AMD didn't set up the systems - all they did was run blind test between the systems........those numbers speak for themselves.....I don't lie; I back up with facts......
Intel's got a great CPU - but is AMD's cpus crap ?? not by a long shot; anything Intel's cpu does; AMD's does also......fact

Though I agree, in complete fairness AMD is currently pretty bad in single threaded applications. Games that use multiple cores though, there's no discernible difference.

Beware of the junk power supplies. I have first hand experience with cyberpower and bad power supplies. Also the vid card looks a little low, so I would change that as well.
