Looking at the MW clix game, they messed up the wolf spider logo, they put a black widow.

Off the top of my head I'm not 100% sure how they reverted the logo, I think it went back to the original? When Natasha returned to the Clans in 3049 the Black Widow Battalion was renamed to the Wolf Spiders Battalion, at this point the units insignia was changed from the original 'Black Widow' to a 'Black Widow' on a spiders web. I've never been that fond of that particular insignia, so just made a new one featuring an actual Wolf Spider. But obviously during the Jihad the Wolf Spider Battalion was pretty much decimated and ended up reforming as a new Black Widow Company.

I actually prefer the logo you've come up with John, much more fitting for the battalion. I feel it's much more dynamic and will look better on the Mechs (as long as we can get custom decals on Mechs).

It had an hour glass so I think it's safe to assume it was a black widow, and don't wolf spiders have those two stripes on it's back?

I've started an offset timeline RP thread which will document the happenings of the Battalion building up to the launch of the game, then introducing news and after action reports from battles and undertakings in game. http://mwomercs.com/...8248#entry58248

That is quite an impressive application form. The site looks great too. The famous quote made by the Founder is really a nice touch. :) If I do not get any more applications for the unit I am currently trying to start up by Friday, I will sign up with you guys.

One question though: the section that deals with previous games only allows one selection. Is it possible to allow more than one?

First, thank you for your kind words Jaroth Winson. The quote for me sums up how important that unity and teamwork is to our unit, reaching out to us from beyond the lore of Battletech. Together, as one, we are stronger.

Don't be too disheartened by lack of uptake to your own unit. It's very early days yet for MWO. Though, I'd be honoured to receive your application if this is your decision. Regarding the application itself. If your referring to the 'previous Mechwarrior games' section, then multiple choices can be made by clicking and dragging. Or Control + Click (Cmd + Click on Mac).

~S~ Fellow Wolf Spiders,

I want to put a topic of discussion out there to hear your thoughts on it (purely because I've recently been using them in games of megamek).

Do you think dropships should feature in MWO, yes or no? Discuss!

However if you think yes how should they be implemented, i.e. can we drop onto planets using them and utilise their weapon systems, can we retreat from battle using them if required (unheard of for Wolf Spiders to retreat we call them tactical withdrawals ;-))

I'd love to hear your opinions on this matter and I think having dropships actually useable in game (i.e. by the commander issuing commands to it) opens up a completely new dynamic to the battlefield.

Blackfang out.

While I have not been accepted yet, I would like to offer my two cents. I believe they should be. Since this is the IS, there is no safcon. Dropships should be able to lay down cover fire for disembarking troops to establish a LZ.

Yeah I'd been discussing the topic of Dropships in two other threads. I'd really love to see these massive spacefaring vessels represented in all their glory to be honest. Aside from the aesthetics and visceral immersion they would add to the battlefield, there are many functions they might act as within the game design, for one they could act as the mobile base for all Merc Corps. The Overlord Dropship in the background for the MWO website might even suggest this is the direction the developers have in mind. It depicts it landed, under heavy fire, and it seems Battlemechs are being deployed form it.

Yep, pretty much my thoughts on how I would like them to be implemented. I wonder if we could get unit logos on the sides of them haha. Definitely as an on planet mobile base with perhaps repair capabilities. I'd really love to see the ability for jump capable mechs to hot drop in before it's landed when it will deploy the rest of the company.

What about the ability to upgrade them, perhaps starting with a small leopard class then once enough money earnt, and pilots, upgrading to a union class dropship and then further still to an overlord?

Actually I was just reading up two things in relation to Dropships. First check out this MWO Wallpaper which was posted on bg.battletech.com. There is some discussion around it being a dropship wreck, or part of a dropship crash site. Furthermore related to the Dropships. Sometime between 52-56 Natasha Kerensky gifted an Overlord Dropship to the Wolf Spider Battalion. My bet is it must of been a Overlord 'C'. There are quite a few Dropships. We know that PGI have stated commanders will be able to call in aerospace fighters. If your attacking a planet it seems logical they will be housed in your Dropship.

Did they say that? Have I missed an update somewhere? That's good news it all seems to point nicely towards being able to field dropships with your mercenary companies. Good find on that MWO wallpaper Johnny, that'll make for some interesting discussions.

It'll be interesting to see what other abilities they give the commanders, I'd imagine artillery might be an option for House Commanders, but probably not so much for Mercenary commands. I'd really wish they'd give us some good tangible evidence of what this game can do, put all our speculation to rest and our minds at ease haha, mines whirling like a tornado about what they could or could not do with this.

Here's the quote from the MWO Website. "The battlefield commander will be able to call in air strikes, artillery strikes and other support unit requests."

Right another topic for you all. How many pilots have the free mektek mech4 installed, i would really like to organise a few combat drops a) to get to know you all as people but b ) to get you used to lance based combat utilising the abilities of each to succeed. Think of it as possible team building exercise but also for a cracking good laugh in a mech. Chances are we'll all need to retrain on release of MWO anyways but I thought some people might enjoy this.

Boss, perhaps we could have the TS3 temp server for this aswell?

Let me know all your thoughts on doing something like this and whether you'd like to get involved.

I have it. I play through the Kurita mekmatch server as well as GameRanger. I am on a few TS3 channels as well & I am sure they would not mind a few extra people.
