I gotta say, I've never even noticed the restricted vision problem. Sure it's more cramped and claustrophobic, but as people have said it suits the idea of such a tiny mech perfectly and (so far as I can tell) it's never hampered my performance (****** stats notwithstanding, mainly down to playing too many matches with the stock build before forking out for some decent upgrades ;) )

One thing I do love about the cockpit is that when you're barrelling along at 150+ kmh, the tunnel view and the landscape whizzing past gives a crazy-fun feeling of speed. And it takes a little bit of crazy to pilot the Locust :P

No offense, but this might get a better response if it is in the Patch Feedback forum, not the Mechs and Loadout forum. http://mwomercs.com/...-on-the-locust/

Other than that, I agree with you. Those bars in the cockpit are a little too thick and located in rather poor locations. Other than that, it looks amazing and small.

I was super concerned when the leak photos rolled out, however after a few matches I don't even notice it.

Now if I slather it in xmas lights or something we may have a different story.

OP is right. Why would they put all that Junk in my field of view but give me a huge sun roof above? I don't need the tan, I'd rather have vision. There's no logical explanation, no matter how hard some of you guys are trying to find one.

The mech is already hard to play without any JJ, ECM and being squishy as hell. Why do they try to give those who still dare to run this mech an even harder time by impairing their vision to such an extent?

The sun roof is for a clear view when your Locust is legged with its face in the ground.

Hmm. I did not even notice the restricted cockpit view until you folks mentioned it. That probably means it's just fine as far as I am concerned.

Besides, always having a nice tan is not such a bad thing.

The locust cockpit is fine... the phoenix locust cockpit is the problem. All they have to do is remove the bike rack that's hanging over the cockpit and it would be fine--just like all the other locust variants. I mean, the locust already comes with a bike rack on the front end, no need to put another one in the exact worst location for a scout mech.

The pictures that are being passed around is the Phoenix variant of the Locust. The standard variants don't have the extra rollbars:

Also something I noticed that may come in handy for "shutdown scouting": When most mechs shut down, they lurch forward giving you a view of nothing but the ground. The Locust just sort of crouches, so you can still look out over the field.

Also something of note... This picture is taken in a LCT-3M with the standard FoV:

The picture below was taken after changing my FoV to 79 degrees in the user.cfg file:

So much more vision! And funny how much further back everything feels, even when I made pains to make sure I was in the exact same position in each picture. Then I turn my head... Look at that view!

If you back up your field of view to about 80 or 90 its not nearly as bad.

this video by NgNg will tell you how to do it.

Just a heads up in my case Pirahna games was in my games folder not program files.

A proper field of view depends on distance from your eyes to the monitor.
It's too bad PGI won't implement bezel compensation and side screen angle for those of us who have 3 screens.

To have side monitors displaying the side views out of your mechs cockpit would increase immersion by quite a bit.

I feel like when I spend money on this game they go out of their way to mess with me. Blocking the view on one of my Phoenix mechs is a good example.

I used to think the cockpit on the 1V(P) was bad, but then I dropped in River City Night...

Posted Image

Almost unplayable. I had to squint the whole match.

Jumping in on the "field of view sucks" side of things...besides everything that has been mentioned so far, if just doesn't make sense. Locust is a scout vehicle, it should have the most visibility from the cockpit position.

Sure I can deal with it and suck it up. However, I want PGI to get my feedback and that is that the field of view for a locust is ridiculous.

I don't know, the cockpit seems rather roomy for a coffin :P
