I think all you read was this:

And bather defently not to read this...
Yes I stopped at your 4 examples from D&D cause that is where you really went wrong in my eyes.

Anyways, here we go again:

This is not Battletech this is Mechwarrior Online, this means we don't have cotrol over infantry, tanks, dropships, battlecrusers (in Orbit), Aircraft, artillery or multiple mechs.
I'd say 90% of my BattleTech game games had no infantry, Vehicles or Aerospace over my 25+ years of play.

The reason for this is because it is not a strategy game, like the TT is. But it is a real time fps about mechs shooting mechs in team-fights.
Yup. and Scouting in a FPS, does aide a team that listens to the scouting report. The Scouts of the Law on't get much in the lines of damage or kills, but assist in such a way that our ability to coordinate is greatly improved. And they take pride in that.

And since we can only control one mech per person, they need to have at least a rough balance. If this is not give, there won't be a rational reason to play an inferior mech.
Not sure what this has to do with Role Warfare.

To avoid such a system and make everyone useful, a class/role system makes sense.

This was just a rough example, don't take it too literally...
A Scout's role is to get in gather/disseminate the enemy's location & organization and get that to the friendly units. Comms, Speed, some armor and a few weapons are all that are required.

What we have in game now is more Hussar or Light Cav than pure Scouts.

However, I think a rogue is a fitting description for the role a light could for-fill. Like a rogue, they are fast, don't deal much dmg in direct combat, but have the ability to doge and back-stab.

Note that armor does not and should not equal survive-ability, same goes for firepower and the ability to kill your enemy.
This hols up unless you have played NW:O. There the Rogue is a whirling death dealer that shames Heavy Weapons Fighters.

If we improve the "roles" we already have and change them eventually into a balanced class based system, we would have a very nice solution that is fair for every one.
We Lawmen have been saying this or a while. It is uncool that our Scouts don't get credit(XP or C-Bills) for the work they do!

In a PUG FPS world do you really think people would even care for that gratitude? I just think you have a very optimistic view here.
I they are actually playing their role, they should. I would.

Most FPS games that have a dedicated scout role actually give scouts the proper tools to perform that role. MWO does not.

1) any information you could find out by scouting ahead of your team simply isn't worth the risk of dying to obtain.
2) there's no integrated way for scouts to share the information they do learn with their team
3) there's no reliable way to keep tabs on enemy mechs even when you dont have LoS (this is what narc beacon should do)
4) spotting is a largely useless role and TAG quite frankly needs a buff.
5) scouting isnt rewarded, plus light mechs are better in combat than medium mechs, so scouting is largely a joke.
