Keep going back to my TDR-5S with 2xAC5(4 tons ammo), 3xMLas, ERLLas, AMS (1 ton ammo), 14 DHS. It consistently performs. It is a little early to say I do better in it than my similarly armed Protector, but it is currently at 0.30 higher KDR with similar damage outputs at end of match.

Loadouts are weak for a 65 tonner. It had better be tough as nails with a ST engine or it's junk until we get DHS 2.0 or they ease back on Heat Scale nerfs. Mainly energy, one can carry an AC10 or 2 AC5's. The TDR-5 is bugged and drops the LRM20 into the LRM10 launcher if an LRM10 is also loaded even though the model shows an LRM20 and LRM10. None can carry an AC20, no Battlemaster can either.

Lots of Energy slots you can't use with DHS 1.4 and Heat Scale. Too many nerfs in MWO to run the mechs now. Alot of them anyway.

@Lightfoot.

If that is the case, why does mine pack a comparable loadout to my 75 tonner, only slightly less torso armor, moves faster, and is somehow more survivable due to the arms and the tapered side torsos? Running with just a STD in any mech can sap tonnage really quickly. Fitting an XL in it solves the tonnage and speed issues, and more speed results in more survivability.

Just not necessarily with the mondo sized missile pod. That thing could use a scaling pass based on weapons loaded. :\

I've found the TDRs to be among the better brawlers in the heavy class. Its squat compact frame makes it a tough ************** to take down and is by far much more survivable than the Dragons and Cataphract chassis. Unless you need 90+ kph speed, then the TDR line can nearly replace the entire Dragon and Quickdraw lines.

The risks of running an XL in the TDRs appear to be significantly less than running an XL in the Catapharacts and Orions. It is much harder to get your side torso blown out in the TDRs due to the compact profile. Combine that with speeds in the 75-85 kph range and your survivability shoots up.

T-Bolts fine. Put 3 large lasers and 4 meds in one and blew stuff up. After that I went back to my Shadowhawk. Why? Well I'm a medium pilot first and formost.
