(P.S. Open the links to the maps to see the grid locations on Smurfy! Will update maps to showcase ideas Soon™)

The first few maps, save for Caustic are far too small for 12 v 12 gameplay. River City is tiny and has map bias for one of the starting positions, Frozen City simply has horrid map layout design, and Forest Colony is simply too narrow.

River City (RCN is another topic) besides being too small, barely qualifies as a city at all. With that size, its more or less an over glorified port. This map simply needs to be made bigger. Sorry if that sounds nebulous, but its painfully obvious. Ideas on that are beyond be other than add more ports to either side! Expand the map boundaries and add dense urban blocks. Remove the Rubble on the top side base and expand that space port (I bet many people haven't even noticed the massive runway back there). Expand behind the dam! Do something!

Frozen City suffers so badly from poor map design. Every engagement usually consists of either team camping on one side of the dropship, then full rush after the first few mechs go down. Sadly, a good majority of the map is never used because of its layout (and assault mode... but another topic).

To fix this, expand the map, giving way to another urban sector and expanding the ice tunnels.

To do this, remove the Glacier wall around B1, C1, D1 and E1. Add in a dense city area in this new region of the map giving an alternative to rushing the dropship. Secondly, add in more tunnels in D2 and C2, creating an Ice Labyrinth situation, ideal for ambushing lights and brawlers. Third, move the starting base in E3 out into E5. Make use of that damn frozen bay!

As for Forest Colony, it just needs to be MUCH wider. As of right D1, D2, and E3. Expand the water far into those sections to create a large bay, with rock structues jutting out similar to out in E4 and E5 ( you can see them quite easily in game, despite being out of bounds).

Second would be to create a second beach and hill side similar to what we have on C3 and C4 area, but in E1 and E2.

When I get time, I'll update the two maps posted with grids and more detail illustrations (which are apparently only visible on the Smurfy Site, so I'll include a link directly).

I'd be all for some changes and revamps and such. To all the maps but for the newest one, really.

Removing them entirely? You are insane and off your meds :D

As long as at one point these borken maps are fixed, I'm fine with that.

I'd be so for the meat of your post if you didn't have such a horribad topic.

I came in here to troll, saw who the OP was and gave it a grain of salt to read through... your points are solid, but I just can't get behind backing you until you fix the topic.

Same here, it's even misspelled and has an exclamation point. I totally thought this was going to be a brainless qq post, like a "Remove lihgt mechs now or the game will die!" type of thing.

Or rather, remove half the maps in a game which is severely lacking in maps to begin with
.

And only one map should be removed. And that's alpine.

You can pull Terra Therma and caustic valley. I know people complained about them the second they were announced. So that's 5 down.

And I want to complain about alpine peaks because it's too white and that's just racist.

I added Caustic Valley. That list has gotten really long with just a quick search of the word remove

I dunno. I don't want to remove any map... wellll... no. But I would really like most of the maps made bigger. Particularly the brawler heavens. Then again, I'd want every map the size of Alpine Peaks and none as small as Forest Colony or Frozen City.

One of the best possible ways to shake up things would be to make multiple versions of the same maps with different cap points and bases to start at. That way at least you'd not know quite what you were getting into and have some variability, and lessen the "always loses" start point problem some maps have.

On topic, Frozen City is a map that I always say I don't like, but I can't really tell you why. It ends up with multiple engagement points, plays pretty balanced from both sides, is fine for brawling, long range, LRM, and overall feels right. My biggest complaint really is the large sections of mostly unused area by the base on the left side of the map, but it's still better than Alpine in that regard.

I know how you feel. It's a brawler's paradise. I hate brawler's paradises. If you can shoot LRMS half way across the map, it's too small. Period.

Just add destructible terrain. That should open up some space for the clausterphobes.
