The release of the locust has made several things very painfully obvious.

1: Minimum heat sinks need to go. They take up room that is never used for heat dispersion on two of the models. (Depending on build.)

2: SHS are so useless, you cant even manage the heat of a single ERLL on desert maps. With 11SHS.

3: Pinpoint accuracy is damning. Weapons need to fire based on their mounting, not all converge on a dime. The problem is also present for larger mechs, it is simply more obvious when every part is a one-hit kills against most mechs with 20+ instant FP. (ppcs, autocannons.)

4: Hitboxes are beyond botched for the SDR. Especailly with such a close viewpoint of what is happening, it is more obvious than ever that the spider does not take damage correctly from lasers.

5: Locust leg hitboxes are excessively large for their actual size.

6: Light leg damage from terrain/falling is way too high. Most of the time, I find myself down 3-4 points just from moving about. These mechs are designed for this wear and tear, you cant cause such a massive downside for playing lights when they are already so vulnerable to contact damage and general damage.

Man a Mechanic that has worked since the late 80s early 90s is not good enough for some players! I won MechWarrior 2 in a Locust IIC v 5 Assault Omnis. The Locust works as intended with its Engine being under 250 rating as far as Smurfy's Mechbay program shows me?!

The basic Locust can be made with double sinks, Ferro and Endo. Not all the variants need doubles (though they do help). The rest is just whining cause frankly a Locust is light an fragile in a game that can and does mass fire to slaughter an Atlas in a dozen seconds.

Then show us... btw, prolly not the best idea to whine about another mech in your whine thread for 1 mech.

My opinion of the Locust changed once I got speed tweak. You are correct about single heat sinks, they are almost completely unusable. It's pretty awful to work your way up to elite level with them but once you do the extra speed actually makes a pretty big difference.

There are a lot of flaws with the design decisions, but it does not soley fall on the Locust to see that.

I mean, just look at all the copy/paste tt damage values (or close). In TT you have a chance to do straight up 20 damage (AC/20) to a locust if its in the right range, and pop goes the Locust.

Except we have that here and you aim where you want, so unless you're bad at FPS games and judging where shots might land - pretty easy to understand why it dies fast in this game.

This has been done multiple times in multiple videos. You can also test it yourself in training grounds. I am sick of people saying the spider is fine when there is so much evidence that it is not. How about this... Show me the spider is fine.

Go into training grounds and find the large hole in the CT of the spider where it registers no damage and explain to me why this is acceptable.

Let me see here

Locust in the open against 12 opponents - average guy has 4 weapons

4x12 = 48

Need a Natural 20 on the D20 skill roll check.

Yup you be dead son.

Locust works just like everything else in this game, don't expose yourself to more damage than you can take.

This means picking your targets, not jumping head first into the fray, letting the battle develop before engaging and never running off alone.

Oh, and even though I agree with some of what you are saying... you can't get rid of the min sinks. I took the stock locust out for a spin and was dropped into Mordor (aka Terra Therma), and if I had even 1 less heat sink I would have overheated from just running around. As it was it took me a good 90 seconds to cool down from overheat to the min level. I started running away to shut down and cool off because it was taking so long. The min heat sinks need to be kept. Otherwsie the locust would be running around with only 6 heat sinks total in its stock form.

I don't know why people are surprised when a mech that's cost so little c-bills gets killed by a mech that costs so much

It's a 20 ton mech. Of course it's going to die fast no matter what you do. It's designed to scout, not attack. Unfortunately, scouting is not rewarded and almost useless in pugs where there is no voice comms. The only way to help the locust would be to give one of it's variants an ecm or reduce it's visibility on sensors, or give it masc, or something that would make it specialize in scouting.

Think outside the MWO box perhaps? Yeah its a 20 ton Mech. The Locust survived far longer in MW4, than it does here, simply due to design decisions.

Lower tonnage = lower armor which is the locust's main problem regarding survivablity. What do you do to fix that?

Use a 4x Streak Locust, stick with your team and kill any enemy Light unfortunate enough to be locked on by you. This is what I do and it works very well for the most part.

As for the Spider, well, its hit boxes are broken as hell and that's a fact. Any one who says other wise and honestly believes the Spider is fine need to have their head examined.

Garbage In Garbage Out!

The lack of Random damage in TT is one among many zillions of flaws.

Taking those rules which were total garbage to begin with and then transliterating them into an FPS is just o.0

No theyre legitimate complaints. The Locust should not have to have 10 heatsinks. It quite frankly doesnt need that many with 4 machine guns as its main weapons.
