Arguably, it could be mentioned that cooling suits were starting to come back in this period. I remember reading that by 3054 cooling suits were widespread on Solaris and were starting to become "mainstream" amongst high and mid profile House units.

So we're the worst of the best. Awesome. :D

I was regoing through the pictures of the lightning aerospace fighter and it looks a hell of a lot like the GDI Firehawk fighter-bomber.

Thank you! Thank you for your wonderful post. This adds so much to the discussion. Just like the others on the forum here who are "correcting" other people on IS/Clan mech names.
Spoiler

This is why people hate you (not you directly but people like you). Hurr thats the wrong name.. the clans call it this and that, it's not maddog it's the timberwolf. It's like the US/UK saying tomado and tomahto. Both are valid names and some people know the IS names for mech better than the Clan names so shut yer pie hole and enjoy this picture of a tomaat..

Thank you. You are the kind of people that people like Shar Wolf love. Who get themselves blown out of proportions and their jimmies rustled as much, if not more than, the original correction post's poster did. Doubly funny as the as of yet unedited post by Shar Wolf is neither insistent nor condescending to anyone. It was simply a statement that the clans call it Warhawk.

You are reading too much into it. Take a deep breath. Chill.

Personally Warhawk/Masakari is the same it's only a name, my intent was to point Haruko towards the right model. If she's spent hours making and rendering a piece based on the one she was inquiring and got it WRONG(?), I'm sure it would've been pointed out. All in all it doesn't matter if it's a Vulture/Dragon/Masakari it's all about what Haruko makes of it.

Let's all move on now.

(Getting rather upset for no real good reason.)

In all honesty, it was not meant as a "YOU DID IT WRONG" but rather, how I phrased it: "Also known as" :D

There are multiple threads, that reappear every now and then, where people ask about the different names for the multiple machines.

Hey guys, I wrote something up regarding Atlas scale on Rebbit, I might as well post it here too for anyone who's ever been curious:
"Hey guys, couldn't help but notice the discussion on Atlas scale and it's disconnect from in-game. Before I proceed with the image dump, keep in mind these are ALL MWO assets from in-game, every single one, this is all stuff found in-game.

Anyway, to begin, here's a wireframe of the Atlas with the Pilot sitting inside on the right eye like it does in-game.
Posted Image
Posted Image
Looks like he fits fine right? Well he does more or less.
...Except he can't really see at all, see that? That's his waist right there.
Posted Image
And here's the view from inside, that's the top of a Spider peeking out of the viewport.
Posted Image
"Well why not have him sit lower" you might ask, well, because the vents on either side of the Atlas "mouth" block the way, as you can see from this cross section of it's head
Posted Image
But how does it work in-game? Well like someone mentioned above, the cockpit you see in-game is completely different from the actual mech, here's the in-game Atlas, see that thing above it? That's the in-game cockpit, notice how it's bigger than it's whole head?
Posted Image

So exactly how big would the Atlas need to be to correspond with the in-game cockpit?
Posted Image
...As tall as a 747, that's the in-game Atlas next to it down there, the tiny little one.

Note that this doesn't mean the Atlas is out of scale or anything, it's just that the Atlas in-game, in order to be actually pilotable using the in-game model and not some horribly out of scale cockpit hovering in front of the mech, would need to have the pilot seated in the center of it's head (the nose), and the pilot would need to use external cameras to see rather than any viewports.

I took a screencap of this but it seems to have disappeared somewhere..."

I'll be dumping something brief regarding light scale in here too in a few minutes.
