Urbies out, time for Urbie stuff.

Here's a size comparison:
Posted Image

It's pretty small, honestly it seems like it would be better to invest c-bills into a bunch of tanks rather than buy an Urbie but then again I hear it's pretty good at what it does in TT.

Here's the cockpit hatch:

The Urbie cockpit looks snug and comfy, the hatch drops straight down into it:

I like the Urbie, it's cute, pretty ok if you play it as a gimped Panther and poptart the hell out of people with PPCs. Frustrating to play it right now though because match maker sticks you with five other urbies and they are all usually running crappy builds...

Well that's all for now.

In issue 102, on page 11 I discovered an image of a Wolverine lifting a tank. In comparison, the Wolverine looks slightly taller than the Shadowhawk (the opposite is true in MWO).
Posted Image
But, clearly this is the reason that Battlemechs don't go flipping tanks with incredible ease as would be easily possible with Haruko's demonstrations of PGI's scales.

Considering the typical Wolverine has nearly 2 to 3 times the armor of most Shadowhawks, being a bit larger and bulkier is to be expected.

On a side note, the Thunderbolt is QUITE a bit larger, and the Marauder... it's disturbingly long yet uber thin limbs and such makes an awful lot of sense, as evidently the Marauder's original design is (slightly) taller than an Atlas.

Edit: (Specifically it says that the Marauder has "maybe a quarter of a meter over an Atlas.")

Speaking of flipping tanks, I forgot I made this a long time ago when the Shadowhawk first came out, I saw it in my folder and I figured you'd get a kick out of it.

Mechs are way too big in MW:O in general.
Everything above Lights that is.
Light mechs are more or less fine.

I've also been playing around with mech melee animations recently:

The website seems to have been closed down. Any chance for a reupload somewhere else?

P.S. PGI should hire you to fix their ****.

Haruko, this is great work... all the way through the thread. I was wondering... do they have any concept of uniform weapon size in the chassis? Is a Gauss Rifle the same size on a light Mech as it is on an Assault Mech... just more of the weapon body hidden inside the Assault Mech? My initial thoughts say no, they don't account for that chassis to chassis.

Thanks.

I can partly answer that. For the original weapon sizes after customization passes...no.

Posted Image
AC/20 and AC/2 and PPC are the same size

Posted Image
PPC and AC/2 are not the same size

PPC two different sizes on two different 55 ton mechs.

Size comparison of those last two mechs. (Animated gif, will load if you click the spoiler).
Spoiler

If you compare the Blackjack's AC or PPC to the Catapult's original scale for autocannons... you could fit them inside one barrel of the UAC/5. You could fit the Blackjack's UAC/5 into the Catapult's, too.

Though PGI seems to be working on rescaling the weapon sizes to some extent.

Using any Cicada 2-variant (A or B) you can see that very recently the weapon sizes are NOT universal, even for the same weapons on the same mech (this is likely to get fixed in the very near future if not already hotfixed).

That said I can let Haruko give you the specifics on more modern-day scales.

I wish I can drive a tank in this game.

Also, the Spider model looks so awesome--now I really wanna give it a try. Seeing it in game is a big put off for me.

Too bad it doesn't have multidimensional armor any more. Although it is a good thing too, I just thought it was the funniest thing ever.

This is some awesome work!!

Was trying to extract that Gazelle file but I can't seem to find it in the River City pak file - though I did find the Leopard there. Am I looking in the wrong place?

(and I posted a similar request in the How To thread)

I really can''t wait to see more renders of your work !!!!

Really wish PGI would allow PNG's on the forum, the white backgrounds are annoying...

I never really learned the difference between PNGs, and Jpegs. Care to explain to an imaging scrub?

Well the original renders are much larger, higher quality and have a transparent background. Unfortunately to host images on here I need to use imgur and imgur doesn't support PNG so they end up with white backgrounds and quality loss.

Rin, those look amazing!
Any chance you'd consider making:
A C1 catapult with small form factor SRM6 arms, and PPC side torsos?
A King Crab with AC10 in RT and twin lasers in each claw
or
A King crab 010 with side torsos each with a PPC and SRM6 (Preferably using the Orion M/V/VA arms for missiles around PPC look)

Eh? I use Imgur to host things like my signature, and it is a png with tons of transparency... >_>
