Yes, they seem to be patching it regularly even though never actually running a PT.

It still crashes when you close it too.

Conspiracy theory anyone?

PS No, I didn't edit the clock.

I guess we'll find out that "there are way more bugs to be fixed".

Speaking of the mythical UI 2.0, testing is tomorrow. See the appropriate subforum for date and times.

Read the entire post. So you understand what the test is about.

Key Points:
- You cannot join a match, but you can do testing grounds.
- There is no paint scheme, module, Comparing, or social functionality.
- There's a lot of known issues, read them.
- There's a bunch of features that aren't completed yet. Read those too.
Focus:
- Find bugs in the current iteration of the UI. Keep in mind the Known Issues list, read it, so you don't waste your time telling them things they already know.
- Give feedback on the current UI. Keep in mind the Incomplete Features list, and the Work in Progress notes.

The public test is oct 29th.

The public test server is usually open on Tuesdays and Thursdays...in the morning and the afternoon....but only when they announce when it's open.

So basically you can fiddle with it but it may crash? What is there to test with so many bugs still?

Honest question.

Honest question.

Beacuse if they didn't show anything there would be even more people/topis like me. Although I can't undestand how it's taking them 9 months to compleate a ui interface. I've seen games made in less time.

That is exactly what I thought. I've seen many games made in less time. And the very weird part is that in September Ekman told us it was going to be delayed but was going to be released in November, right? Now, it's not November yet, but with a build like that where basically nothing works and it's just a very stinky bone thrown to the community, do you really think it is going to be released in November? Or December?

Haven't tried it yet, but with so many known issues, and so little features available for testing, looks like this is a pre-alpha build, so I can't imagine it being ready for another three or four months. Actually seven or eight by PGI standards.

Wow. Many features not in and full of known bugs and crashes and glitches? No way this is done in November. How can it take that long to do a UI? Per above, in 1 year this should be super polished and ready to go even if only a single programmer was working on it.

They said every new feature was dependent on UI2 but when the release "UI2.0" we are getting a beta UI and will need to wait for another year for the bug fixes and feature addition to finally bring in the capability for all those other game features.

I think Bryan said (not long ago, he said it in the NGNG interview in early September) that UI 2.0 was going to be ready by November... or worst case scenario in December if some disaster happened.

Now, if FOR SOME REASON this won't even be ready for December, what does it say about this team? What comes after "disaster"?

The idea is to let us feel the thing in a work-in-progress condition, which is miles ahead of the one-window prototype we saw pictures of. And with presumably a month until UI2.0 is patched in, some early feedback may actually influence the first official release.
