Ive done really well in this one... considering its a locust.

Now everyone knows my secret OP locust build! XD

I've found locusts to be fun in the same way diablo 2 hardcore mode was fun. Adrenaline pumping non-stop until a half-second lag spike kills you and you end up breaking your keyboard over your knee. good times...

If anything this mech has got to be excellent to train prospective light pilots in. 1 mistake and your dead after all...

Is anyone really surprised that a 20 ton mech with paper mache for armor is garbage in the CoD/Arena combat that is MWO?

If we had a real mechwarrior online,in a more open world....kinda planetside 2 like setting...the locust might have a use.In this game? it's just a free kill for everyone else.

Don't get me wrong,if you find it fun, then by all means use it.This is a game,it's supposed to be about fun.Just don't expect it to perform terribly well if you face any real opposition......or if someone sneezes in your general direction.

I like em.

I love being able to play any chassis and any variant well. My best match was 550 damage with 250-400 happening fairly often.

The big thing for me is getting to say....

"oh the humiliation. Killed by a locust"

Mine is almost identical, but with a XL180 (I took off my 3SSRM commando :D) and a Medlas for more range.

Do you chainfire your SRM or Alpha them?
I've found good use for both, the hard part being knowing which would be more useful before it is to late :D
(Don't have speedtweak yet... but ahm workin on it ;))

Edit: Typo Invaders from Halloran IV :D

It is tough to play, but I'm growing to like it. The 1V and 3S are meh, but I feel I could do well in the 3M. It truly is a trial by fire if this is one of your first lights, though.

That's pretty much my build, though I have the ammo split between the arms. If I lose them, then I still have my core, legs, and laster. :D

I thought about the med las, but decided the speed was more worth my time for the half ton. I always alpha because of the very fast recycle time of the srm-2s and that I dont want to stick around and engage any one target for too long. I find doing strafing runs works better in this mech since its so fragile rather then sticking around and taking down a target start to finish.

I may have to try and scrape up the Cbills for a 190 then ;)
I found myself chainfiring because the seem to concentrate more (IE the missiles spread less) and while I zip past a lot of people, 270 meters is still long enough to chainfire 4 SRM2 at someone :D sometimes I finish as I pass them, but that's part of what the big torso-twist is for no? :D

That and after playing my TDK for a while, I found I disliked the lack of range on a pure small-laser build (though with the new engine cap I may have to try it again to... monkeypoo, there is ANOTHER engine I'm gonna have to scrape up the Cbills for :D)

It can be viable if weight balance will be implemented someday. With teams balanced by overall tonnage (not just by number of mechs in weight classes) Locust can be used to save tonnage. Team can run "light" lights to deploy "heavier" (or more) heavys and assaults.

Now I just play them for... eh... "fun", reminding myself that my Locusts are still not at full performance as I haven't elited them yet.

Here is my observation so far with them. I sit too far back to see effectively. I discovered the only way I could play is if I hit zoom once at the bare minimum. This is where I am sitting at this point.

Mech' Matches Played Damage Done Average Damage
LOCUST LCT-1V 15 1,298 86.53
LOCUST LCT-3M 10 811 81.10
LOCUST LCT-3S 11 1,114 101.27
COMMANDO COM-2D 34 7,615 223.97
COMMANDO COM-3A 23 2,263 98.39
COMMANDO COM-1D 29 3,974 137.03
SPIDER SDR-5V 39 2,886 74.00
SPIDER SDR-5D 60 3,072 51.20
SPIDER SDR-5K 66 6,462 97.91
RAVEN RVN-3L 82 9,784 119.32
RAVEN RVN-2X 137 9,212 67.24
RAVEN RVN-4X 136 7,670 56.40

As you can see, for me the commando is by far the best Light. I don't own a Jenner yet, but it will be in my next purchase. Not all of these are completely kitted out at this point. I am still working on some items for each one.

got my last 190XL in the 3M last night and hit speed tweak for it and the 3S as well. Tonight I should get the tweak for the 1V and all bets are off as I start trucking it at 175kph around everyone in these bugs.

My average damages are 176 in the 1V, 117 in the 3M and 143 in the 3S. This is after about 30 matches in each.

I've thought about swapping the SSRMs to regular SRM2s, but haven't tried it yet. Should have some in storage though. ;)

When I die, it usually takes a couple or more working in tandem to bring me down. Let me catch you solo and I'll cut you to pieces.

So much QQ... enjoy the locust, its fun.

It isn't the worst mech.

We all know which one will be it. And we all want that slow little trashcan.

Yeah it takes more than "tried it once" to master this mech...

If PGI added the Urbanmech as a playable light, the frustration threads on the forums would be Locust 1V x2.

I did them to basic so far, they weren't fun, but it was possible.

For getting them to elite/master, I will probably do the lazers and machine gun ones to get first win of the day and then park them, basically to maximise xp and minimise time on them.

The missile one that cant really fill all its weapon slots will just have to wait on any spare gxp to finish it off.

I think this says it all. Why waste time playing something that is not fun. This is the internet people! There are millions of other fun things to distract us!
