I'm not sure what the right answer is and there have been a LOT of good solutions.
What I do know is Pulse lasers are one of the best looking/sounding weapons in the game and it's a damn shame there aren't more of them on the battlefield.

I read they doubled the armor compared to TT, or during beta, I don't know.
The pulse duration would be much more effective if the mechs were more fragile, but then other issues arise probably. It would be deadly to get shot at for one whole second, and then those with pulse laser could be much more dangerous.

I guess I am crazy in thinking that a 6SL Jenner is better then a 6SPL Jenner for 1v1 light dogfight. Its not as cut and dry as it was before DHS but it still leaves you a larger margin of error. You can get a lot of extra mileage with that extra 3 tons.
What do you do with those 3 extra tons? I can only put one freed ton to use (one more DHS) and end up having 2 unused tons due to no slots left.
Here's the SPL version:

PGI should give them a crit bonus.
I could definitely see this making pulse lasers more desirable, I like it, although I'm still not sure I would use SPL or MPL with their current weight.

Pulse lasers have comparable damage but nearly half the burn time. It is actually easier to get all the damage into the one allocation you want it then with non-pulse lasers.
Yeah I was mistaken on this part.
