I heard it was running today, now as a matter of fact.
Do I need some special permissions to try it out?
Do I have to be in some magical group of geeks?
Do I have to ask very nicely, oh please oh please oh please ?
When can I get a look at the test servers?

The test server is only ever open at specific times for a specific purpose. In this case, it is to try the updated user interface "UI 2.0". Everyone can join, and everyone should have a look at what's coming up and give feedback.

In case if you missed out.
Note: As of the time of this post, the upload requires 77 more minutes to finish. Then it'll take a bit to process.
Has my full experience. You'll hear what I liked, what I didn't, what was easy to figure out and where I got hung up in trying to figure the new interface out.

Nice video... but it says "This video is Unavailable". Though, I really love the static field effect...

Read his post again ... the video won't be available for a while yet -- another hour and five minutes from this post.

U.I.2 looks ugly for me. And not user friendly.

I can't deny it could use some work. Next time I'll remember to tick 'show crosshair in video' so that you can see my mouse pointer. I made some requests to include a separate 'buy' tab as swapping owned and unowned mechs left me confused after I made my purchase and then was staring at my owned mechs. There are some traits of the original interface I'd like to keep, too.

PGI needs to just use smurphy setup.
The new mechlab is worse than the old one.

To tell the truth, I like MechCommander 2's interface. Though some parts of MC2's interface are pretty similar to a crossbreed between Mechromancer and Smurfy.
