Well, there's the alternative classic idea of like a 4SP ballistic version. 3E on the arms and head and 1 ballistic each in the side torsos.

The dakka would be sweet.

2 arm mounted ballistics points and 2 energy hard points in each side torso and one energy hard point in the head.

Also it'll have an XL275 or bigger so it'll be able to fit a decent sized engine.

Weapons would probably be 2UAC5 and 5 ML.

Well, if I may endulge in wanton wishlisting:

2E each arm, 1E head, 1B each ST, ECM, JJ.

My vote is for a left shoulder hunch.

With the first release of the "Mech-mounted Mortar!"

This.

Don't really care what they do with the Hunchie hero save for two things:

1. Fix the torso reticle problem. (For all Hunchies)

2. Retain Hunchie's torso twist and arm articulation stats.

Also, for the guy that suggested 2E in the head - there's only one available crit slot in the head, the second hardpoint would always be wasted. They could, for sake of interest, give it 1E/1M in the head - like the AWS-9M has slots that are either/or.

I'm def down with the introduction of the mortar. It desperately needs to be added to the game. Whether they'd implement it with the semi-guided munitions making it like a poor man's LRM or not, it would be a huge addition. Just think, it could actually make the Locust, Spider, and Cicada ballistic versions decent without needing to be in melee range. The horror!!!

the 5P carries an ECM suite, though could also use Jump Jets.

Though the 4SP with two humps, as anything with a single hump is just too much an easy prey.

It's the "HBK-5" series though, plus ECM on a hero mech is a huge thing toward the pay to win argument. I'd rather they don't base it off of a single stock HBK especially when it's of a different line. (I'd prefer the HBK-5s to be treated as a separate chassis/line).

If they don't use an actual noteable pilot and hero, I want the Cicada's X-5 Prototype approach. "Engineers! Sit down and think, what could we try to do to make a super hunchback 4 series?"

Another idea I've thought of is left torso small missile launcher, right torso cannon housing. o.O;

As cool as it would be, I seriously doubt we'll get ECM or JJ on the Hunchie hero. Something that different to the currently available variants would be far too P2W.

Maybe a 4P with a ballistic in each arm? 6/7 MLas and 2 MGs. Wouldn't be great as stock, but characterful as hell, and great customisation options.

4P with 6 energy mounts in the torso and a cannon on each arm. I think that's begging for "O.P." UAC/5 on each arm + XL engine + 3 SPL. Maybe a head mounted ballistic for an MG or AC/2. Pfft. It'd be fun but it isn't happening.

I'm still in favor of my mortar idea. *Zooms away to work!*

It just makes sense to have the precursor to the Hunchback 2C. We're building up to the clans and the biggest issue with the Hunchy, beyond the face that it is slow, is that you can remove its entire weapon suite by removing one side of the mech. I could see something completely different where they go the X-5 approach but then we'd have the Jester all over again.

Applying logic: No chance of ECM because p2w. Jumpjets unlikely because extra modelling work to add the ports onto that single variant when the others won't benefit. Dual AMS has just been used on the Jester, so also unlikely.

My guess would be a higher engine cap than other Hunchbacks. I can't see them making the hero totally non-ballistic (although I could easily be wrong on that) so I'll say ballistic hunch but some energy swapped for missile hardpoints instead.

What about a Swayback SP with single ballistics in the arms? You could do 3 Energy in each shoulder plus the head mount and like 1-2 ballistics in each arm for MGs along with a much bigger engine cap?

Out of interest, how many of the hero mechs that we have so far are non-canon?

Seems quite possible that they may just pull something weird out of the bag.

Something like 3E (RA/LA/HD), 1B (RT), 2M (LT)? That could be fun. Throw in an odd sized, slightly larger XL stock engine and call it a day (higher engine limit could be a significant selling point, I think).

Most of them. The YLW is the closest (trading a hatchet for an engine upgrade). The Boar's Head and Heavy Metal are loosely based off of lore mechs, and the rest are new creations.

actually, the Pretty Baby, FireBrand and Death's Knell are from the TRO 3025. The Dragonslayer is invented, but for a canon character, Arden Sortek. the Portector is for aleksandr Kerensky, and as close as available tech allows. THe Misery is the mech driven by Colonel Jamison of Wolfs Dragoons Zeta Battalion.

Most have loose descriptions, if any, in lore, but all those are "canon" mechs.

The YLW did NOT have a hatchet originally. For his fights on Solaris, Justin had reinforced "fingernails" in Capellan fashion. Totally unnoticeable.

If you want the hatchet version, you also need to wait till 3120. No thank you, I like the YLW as she is now. Just give melee so I can punch sh*t.
