Here's a preview of my entry to the redesign a Marauder contest [link]. Enjoy the mechporn!

UPDATE:

I've made a number of tweaks to the design, most notably to the legs which are more in line with the Cataphract's now. (Which are supposed to be the legs of a Marauder. Try and figure that one out.) This will be the final version of my redesign. All that's left for me to do is clean up the line art and then add colour and some shading.

Okay...that's my personal favorite out of the ones i've seen. It retains that original feel but looks substantially different. I like it.

the legs look kinda' like the legs of the cataphract. Very cool! I'd say if by some chance the marauder did make it into the game, it might look like this....it has a more of a MWO feel to it.

The artwork only has to be 20% different from the original artwork for it to be considered legally a different image. As the others stated though this one catches the essence of the Marauder while making enough cosmetic changes to give it a distinctiveness of its own. Well done!

really?, that Cataphract gets its legs from the marauder? I didn't know that, so the cataphract is the real thief here!
Edit: ......... ah, just looked it up at sarna.net, its says,
"Unable to build anything bigger than a Vindicator and desperate for a heavy 'Mech, the Capellans designed the Cataphract from spare parts they could still manufacture. Using components from the Marauder, Shadow Hawk and Phoenix Hawk, they were able to field prototypes which were functional, if not aesthetically pleasing, and more importantly reproducible."

So I guess that explains it. Not only that, but the marauder was manufactured in 2819, long before the Cataphract. Much love this, maybe we'll get a chance still yet to see this marauder in MWO.

Quite good, but the upper arms are supposed to have a ball joint (?) for greater movability, but the torsoprotection is a good thing. Personally, I'd also remove the 3rd window that gives only skyview. This is battlemech not a trip ferry with a beatuiful skyview.^^

Except you have to get a judgement on that and that itself costs money. Basically I wouldn't straddle that percent much but yeah you could lift a couple bits wholesale if you kept that to a minimumn...MWDA was filled with Gundam parts in the beginning (left over FASA-isms maybe?).

On that note this does remind me a bit of the Marauder IIC mini they make now with some MWO style to it, like it.

I really like this one, the only very minor criticism I can think of is it might have a bit too much cockpit glass but its in good company with the Catapult and Timber Wolf.

I also prefer the slightly smaller autocannon, the glaug pod one always looked a bit too big to me. The legs are just nice, proportionally they get the right feel, the arms again just nice. Love it

By all things holy! A reasonably sized autocannon on a Marauder? What is this witchcraft?

Really captures the essence of the old design and makes the connection to MWO's Cataphract. I like it.
