I can confirm that if you suicide 5 times in a ROW (over-ride and killyourself) you will get a 1 hour Ban....

Very well said.

In WWI, for example, there often was a mutual respect among soldiers who, while fighting on opposite sides, shared in the same horrors and triumphs as their enemies. To shoot a retreating man would be like shooting yourself in a way. It always sickens me how in the United States that Armistice day, an international day of honor, has been subverted into Veterans day. There is something very humanizing about the idea that all nations remember on a purely human level those who have sacrificed in the past. I'm not against the idea of an American war themed holiday, but overshadowing Armistice day to the point where few know what it commemorates is really sad. Now, post WWII, it seems that 'Merica is better than everybody on every level, even in the real of sportsmanship. It is not about doing/being your best as much as it is about devastating those who are weaker than you. IE, MechWarrior online KD ratio bloodlustfest.

Report someone retreating?

agree with the political aspect of this post.

Let's face it. The game is full of morons in any circumstance. They cant grasp the teamwork concept. They run around solo and die off while offereing nothing to the team. So, running out of bounds is a small concern when compared to the level of players some of us are forced to endure.

Self-Destruction

Any MechWarrior who willfully or repeatedly
  • Overheats their BattleMech to destruction; or
  • Is removed from battle by leaving the battlefield boundaries;
Is guilty of BattleMech Desertion and shall be moderated.

That what the Uniformcode says.

In my opinion the circumstances are irrelevant. Last Mech, multiple opponents... Blablabla.

then why have an override button at all? Could it be because the spirit of the law is that it's about people auto-destructing with the game starts, and not about when in the middle of fighting?

No.

But there should be an "Arena mode" with no escape possible.

Fix:
1. Stupid Matchmaker
2. Hit detection
3. Weapon balance

Then... maybe. Until then, forget it. This game is broken.

There are enough good points in this thread for everyone to make their own choice about reporting such players or not. But the attempts, to convince each other about which way is the correct one, are going in circles by now.

And sadly, I have seen some posts that are, well... lets call it "equiped with unsuitable words". That's why I'm closing this thread.
