While the hardpoints are ok and comparable to the K2, I'm disappointed in the torso and arm movement limitations:

Catapult K2

Torso Movement:

- 110 degrees to each side.

- 16 degrees up and down.

Arm Movement:

- 0 degrees to each side.

- 45 degrees up and down.

Catapult J

Torso Movement:

- 95 degrees to each side.

- 16 degrees up and down.

Arm Movement:

- 0 degrees to each side.

- 30 degrees up and down.

So we are just going to go ahead and completely obsolete the K2 then? Cool cool variety is for scrubs anyway

whathuh?! The K2 can wield dual Gauss, dual UAC5, even dual AC20. Ever been hit by an AC40?!

Trust me, the K2 is FINE!

You need to know Garth is a Catapult Magician!

Lets ride this "Mad"-Cat with 355XL engine... to make a Hero really different, you need to take advantage of what is different from others. Like a Yen-Lo-Wang is none without a AC-20 in the arm... it´s just meant to be played that way.

Smurfy´s not ready for the Jester yet, but I used the K2... just add a 23 tons 355XL engine and 2 tons for JJ as another 0,5 ton for the 2nd AMS and at last another 2 tons for 3rd and 4th medium laser (because I won´t use smal lasers at all)... which makes 27,5 tons total.

In my example I left space for 4 double heatsinks in the engine itself so 31,5 tons free space... the only modification should be playing with legs armor (33 seems enough for a JJ mech to me) and additional heatsinks. In my example I prefer heatsinks. Maybe exchange one heat sink for a 2nd ton of AMS ammo... but with your ludicrous speed you should reach cover quiet quick.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...82269fa9a975bad

This will be an incredible fast, scare the hell out of everybody looking at it, jumpjeting Cat with an Alpha of 38... take in mind that a 355XL can carry more heat sinks and counts as 2 more heatsinks than a most time used 300XL... it WILL be heat efficient. Maybe we can even use ERllas.

I like this Jester... and even I´m a very poor guy... I will cut the money out of my flesh for it... thank you Garth for putting a smile on my face! ;-)

UPDATED: Smurfy´s works now changed to 350XL for more economy - http://mwo.smurfy-ne...16ec8475935157a

Using Skunkworks (Windows Phone app) I can do the Jester loadout now.

2x PPC + 4x ML w/ 300XL or 6x ML w/ 355XL. Both w/ 2x JJ, look fearsome indeed.

K2 with no ballistics. That means no Gausskittens or AC40kats.

Hour 2387213 - we're still on this hill and won't move.
Also Mechs don't exist and are a foolish idea for military vehicles.

Is this where I'm supposed to point out that it's possible to write mature fiction even in unrealistic sci-fi settings? I could provide some examples, if you want. And I don't really see why foolish idea for military vehicles = Buffy the Vampire Slayer-esque comedy, but I guess there's no point in discussing that here.

In case I have offended anyone, I do apologize. There's nothing wrong with high school comedies or Buffy. Joss Whedon is a cool and funny writer/director. If nothing else, I guess this sort of fluff reminds me of the old Battletech cartoons I used to watch as a kid.

I've written seriously before, but this one was called, you know, the Jester. So... I went with that :)

I'm loving the Jester and will likely buy it. Working on a build that incorporates ERPPC's or PPC's in the ears, though. I've found that when running a Catapult with an XL engine, it helps to have bigger guns to help shield the side torsos.

With the addition of JJ, you don't really need the extra arm and torso movement.

I hope everyone enjoys the Mech, I had a lot of fun designing the loadout.

And also, yes, the 2nd AMS is to make up for the X-5 :)

To be honest, it looks OK. Its a mini Flashman with JJs.

Given that there are no "good guys" in war and we're the combatants, it's generally better to take a light hearted approach to the fictional combat we participate in. Otherwise, given that we fight in the cities, you sir are responsible for countless refugees, dead children, and shattered families. You are a monster.

Happier?

Well... C3 exists and the reason she didn't listen was it doesn't work well. :)

Jester looks nice, and the story was colorful. I will probably buy one...BUT I have to express my displeasure over the choice of hardpoints. The catapult is first and foremost a missile mech. The K-2 (and related later variants) are a side-branch. It feels wrong that the hero mech chosen to represent the cats does not have even one missile hardpoint. I sincerely hope in the future that another hero catapult is created for those of us who are fans of the missile catapults.

Edit: Was there a reason the catapult hero was made WITHOUT missiles? It would be really nice to hear a well-reasoned explanation.
