Still they screwed me over as well. Removed it for no reason AND took away the possibility for some people to keep playing that way.
Example:
1) A Light has a TAG and some ML. Group 1 is fire TAG, Group 2 is fire all ML. Group 3 is fire all ML but in chainfire mode.
So, if I had to fight close range, I would have tapped the right arrow key twice to switch to group 3 for firing the ML one at a time with Mouse 1 and all of them with Mouse 2.
2) You fire your ballistics with Mouse 1. And once you run out of ammo, you want to fire something else with your left mouse button...
I want it back.

Mouse button 1 is the most natural firing button on my button-challenged mouse, so it's obvious that being able to change its associated weapon group on-the-fly is one of the most basic usability requirements.
I use up to 4 separate firing buttons, but the ability to switch the primary group using the mouse wheel is a key function for different situations.
What is this I don't even.

Bring it back ASAP or tell us how to enable it in Config Files.
I request a HOTFIX!

Honestly it looks like the "phase two" ("3PV was phase one") Mechwarrior Online goes to next generation consoles.

This does seem the sort of thing you'd expect of game designers trying to pull the game away from PC users and give it to the console gamers. Since the console gamers can't really use the previous option, PC users can't have it either.
Seriously, how bad was the ability to switch which group was being used by the left mouse button that it just -had- to be removed as a critical item to game balance?

WHO COMPLAINED SO VOCIFEROUSLY TO BRING ABOUT THIS DEBACLE?
What then is the point to being able to use the arrow keys to select weapons groups other than to add or remove weapons? Surely it wasn't to be able to cycle through them to actually select them to fire them with MOUSE BUTTON ONE. I mean really, who would ever need that option?
First it was the mouse wheel. Now this.
So, what gear might you suggest that I purchase to make my game, um I dunno, feel like a first person shooter again? Something from Razer perhaps? I am all ears. No, really I am.
If the intention is to make this easier for the console crowd that will eventually flood this game, what 6 buttons do you suggest one use to fire their weapons groups on an average console game controller to be able to play this game? What will be left for anything else? For those of use who use all of our weapon groups we are eagerly awaiting your guidance and instruction.
Support ticket has been sent and I am certain I am not the only one who is trying to figure this one out. That being said, I recall that one of the devs said some time ago, that for those who rarely post on the forums they take a keen interest in what has moved them to jump into the fray and speak their minds.
Well, here ya go.

No, they will not.
One of the devs once told in Twitter that they are stunned with perspectives of the console market. And some people noticed that UI2.0 looks well optimized for gamepad. So it looks like we're playing F2P test version of the game before they will port it to consoles.
So now it's time to test the gameplay balance without the variety of the heavy-customizable controls, because consoles have rigid control options. And you are the testers. They still haven't deleted the mouse altogether, but if they will, have no doubt that you will neither be warned about this decision nor will you be able to change it.
Now keep playing and, better yet, paying. Have fun.

EDIT As far as the argument that this option makes consoles more viable to play? That is total horses***. Doing weapon groups the way PGI has it post patch would take 6 buttons and one thumbstick, as opposed to co-opting one thumbstick outside of games to set the groups up, and then two top triggers to select weapons and one thumb button to fire them in-game.
I don't play consoles anymore, haven't for a long time, but WTF one of those two scenarios would a console gamer actually play? If it were me, for DAMN sure not the first option that PGI seems poised to force on them. Especially given that most shooters probably already use a system like this. I'm not sure about that - as I said I don't play consoles - but on this I'd bet money, which may soon be pulled from MW:O and sent to other things regardless.

This totally breaks the game for me; I'm only using a two button mouse at the moment. Taking an option out of the game that has been in the controls since the beginning of the series, and makes no logical sense. This game is a pain in the butt to play now. Think I'm gonna have to write it off completely if they don't bring the option back.

So you had to make a fake forum account to cry about a legitimate issue? Try making about 50 more and post on all of them threatening to quit the game, I'm sure they won't ignore every one of them...
That dodus aside... I've never used MB1 for anything other than Weapon Group 1 and I'm surprised so many people use it differently. I can however see how it would be a hindrance if that's what you're used to or are lacking buttons. Doesn't really make any sense that they would remove the option entirely.
