The game is NOT unplayable, though it is disappointing.
If you CHOOSE not to play until they change this than that's on you not the developer, live with it.
Stop complaining that you expect refunds every time something doesn't go your way.
This thread was meant to be CONSTRUCTIVE feedback but ya'll hijack it and turn it into a rant.

So, I'm guessing you didn't read the posts where it has unnecessarily and prohibitively impacted those with physical limitations who don't use a mouse/keyboard?

Fundamentally it changes the way many have played video games for over 20 years, for absolutely NO GOOD REASON. This isn't just some POV that you have the choice to use or not, or a 'nerf' to some system, this is forcing MANY people to have to change the way they play the game to accommodate what... their lack of a tutorial and resistance towards making a new one.

"New players struggled with the control"... Really, New players have been struggling with the game since the first day of Open Beta, and THIS is your solution. It wasn't CHANGING a default keymap, it was completely removing it altogether.

We're sorry we aren't letting you feel happy about the game anymore. However, many of us have tried constructive feedback, and even given the same feedback as we have here ("Think before you act"). The devs have consistently turned a deaf ear to any and all constructive criticism, and further explained that anyone who does give such criticism cannot represent the community's concerns because they are only a minority of those who play the game.

Is it so hard for you to understand that people who realize their voices are being wasted and who are dealing with a company that refuses to abide by anything it says react in this way? As for this thread being for constructive criticism, that boat has sailed along with 3PV. No such possibility exists when the devs continue to refuse to listen to anyone but themselves and refuse to honor their promises.

To top off all of that, people have stated in this thread how some of them -are- being hampered to the point of being unable to play due to physical limitations, and you toss all that aside because it doesn't fit with your own viewpoint. You are as bad as the Devs in regards to listening to feedback.

So, please take your own advice and stop being a drama queen. Understand that feedback is now only for expressing acceptance of an action or fustration that the devs have, once again, ignored common sense or what they might have stated in the past, and let people use the thread for what it is here for.

Utterly hilarious, you are a massive hypocritical fool for not realizing that this thread has been mostly constructive, measured, and rational, until you showed up and threw a five-year-old style temper tantrum.

Lmao at you... now shush, the adults are talking. :)

I would imagine that there will be a hotfix at some point. I dont think they will make us wait two weeks.

One would hope, then again, PGI seems allergic to delivering on promises - on time or at all, either one. "That was our position at the time" is all the justification they need to break their word, whether that "time" was 5 minutes ago, 5 hours ago, 5 days ago, 5 weeks ago, or 5 or more months ago. So honestly people getting forced to wait 2 weeks or more would not surprise me in the least.

Understandable. I'm still waiting for them to address the issues with SRMs. *sad panda face*

Now what gets me is why they didn't say that was the reason why in the patch notes in the first place, would have saved every from being bit by the drama Lama.

But, to be honest, I'm just happy that we are going to have it back at some point "soon". For a moment there I was bunkering down and getting ready for the forums to turn into one of those old school Japanese style Godzilla mashes... AGAIN!!

Considering that some already left, and some of those aren't coming back, it did anyways. The reaction is a good demo' of what I mean when I say there are two types of rage - the "hot": irrational, stupid, and out-of-control sort, and the "cold": rational, smart, measured and in-control sort that most often ends up being the most dangerous of the two. The majority reaction to this massively incompetent move on PGI's part was definately the latter.

Unnecessary change is unnecessary.

If they wanted to change the mouse/weapon group relationship they should have gone the other way:

Mouse 1 - fire selected weapon group A.
Mouse 2 - fire selected weapon group B.

HUD has 2 vertical selection bars, one for mouse 1 and one for mouse 2. They function like the old mouse 1 selection column.

WTB: Mouse 1 map to group 5, mouse 2 map to group 6, so I can use groups 1-4 from the keyboard. Frankly, we should be able to map any given mouse button to any particular weapon group - without any button being specifically tied to a specific group. Some folks have more than 3 mouse buttons. I don't, but some do.

So, when's the fix Paul? Burning Premium Time here...

Yes they can.

Here's the current options PGI can take:
1) Release hotfix on Friday - server downtime for sale, hotfix day is optimal
2) Release hotfix sometime next week (likely Tuesday) - server downtime for sale, hotfix day is also optimal
3) Release hotfix on Patch Day Tuesday (11/19) - "Everything is nominal, working as intended™"

You can figure out how much self-damage PGI would like to generate on their own volition.

I have to say, in my first game since the new patch I was confused as to whey I was only firing one weapon. Now I know. WHY!? WHY do you remove the "fire selected weapon group" option? How could that possibly have effected game Balance? i feel like PGI is just TRYING to break this game. First they ignored the communities complains about ECM (43 pages requesting a change, only to be told "nope"), and now you remove the fire selected weapons options?

Weapon groups 3 through 6 are now useless. most Mice do not have more than 3 usable buttons for shooting (Mine has 2 buttons). The ability to choose which weapon group you fire made the other groups useful because depending on the situation you change the weapon group to match the weapons you fire to the situation. For example I often run with Med lasers and SRMs on the same group, but outside of 270m i switch to a weapon group that is just the lasers, usually these options are on groups 4 and 5 or so. Now that is next to impossible. in the middle of combat it is really hard to reach across my keyboard to hit the right key while i am trying to drive the mech and keep the crosshairs on target.

Please hotfix this option back in! I will not spend another dollar on this game until it is replaced.

Tick... Tick...Tick... why is it not fixed yet. If Im not shooting big stompy robots I can't spend more money on more of them. I call this another blunder in a pointless attempt to cater to the "new players".
The noobs will eventually figure things out... or they won't...

So I am now into my 3rd day of not playing. Good for you PGI. Thankfully I have ton of other games. I just don't get it. How hard can it be? We even added the dang mouse wheel buttons in a cfg file that you couldn't even provide us. Do your dang job already. I am not joking. I am done till you fix it.

I got the same letter. They are standing behind the clause in the EULA that says they can change stuff at will. However, that clause isnt as all encompassing as they would like to believe. For example, if tomorrow they patched the game to have all the graphics be in grayscale, they would be in deep kimche, EULA clause or not. This is similarly game breaking (or at least makes the game "not what you paid for", not for everyone, but for a large number of people). If they had simply paused my premium time until this is fixed, I would have patiently waited for them to do so. By giving me the virtual finger, they have now made an enemy of me. I am considering legal action, as they are essentially stealing money from me with every minute of premium time that ticks away while the game is unplayable (and yes, with the control devices, and physical limitations I have, it is unplayable to me, unless I want to stop moving (or aiming) every time I want to fire anything other than group 1). Please by a show of hands indicate which of you is willing to just stand still in matches against me, so that I can kill you without having to aim or move while I fire. Anyone ? Thought not.

1) No.

2) ;)

3) We are adding the ability to bind MB1 to "fire selected weapon group" but it's requiring a bit of trickery on the control binding end of things. We have engineering working on it right now and as soon as that is fixed, the bind will be available to you all again. Sorry for the inconvenience but this was something we did after watching new players have a problem with the current implementation.

...how was this supposed to make it easier on new users in the first place!? It encourages not splitting out firing groups, and running a pure alpha on most 'mechs is extremely wasteful at best or a boring means of suicide at worse.

I try not to be that guy, but seriously, what were you thinking!?

I 'appreciate' that you're working to put the old functionality back in, but all the complexity behind this problem is of your team's own making. Good grief.

Mine started out at the first - I'm not sure my company-mates were even aware I knew profanities before I found this out and just about took a random walk through the Urban Dictionary.

...actually, I'm still at the first, but it's backed by the second.
