1) No.

2) ;)

3) We are adding the ability to bind MB1 to "fire selected weapon group" but it's requiring a bit of trickery on the control binding end of things. We have engineering working on it right now and as soon as that is fixed, the bind will be available to you all again. Sorry for the inconvenience but this was something we did after watching new players have a problem with the current implementation.

so maybe instead make a tutorial on how to USE the feature instead of trying to cater to the people who have difficulty and give up. IF they don't want to take the time to learn how to play what makes you think they will support the project with $$? I on the other hand have supported the project with money, quite a lot of it. I like many other long term players who have supported the titles development think you should try asking your core supporters how they feel about a change and why. you likely would get a better product out of the consultation. and happier paying customers.

I have never seen a business model succeeded based upon ******* off the people who most support said business. You might benefit from thinking about that for a few moments before you make a sweeping change to something that was working just fine.

No one should care what the default option is. I changed my controls from day one because I never liked PGI's default.

I started to write a post about you guys on premium time not getting reimbursed and it then turned into a lecture on customer service which turned into a diatribe of how unlikely I think MWO is going to survive more than a few years given PGI's business model which then started turning into a list of other things like the reasons why I didn't buy into the Phoenix package (though I wanted to) etc etc etc.

I deleted it and figured it strayed too far off topic. This patch is just another symptom in a long line of symptoms revealing a very disturbing trend.

I want this game to work guys. I invested in the idea. I salute your amazing design and art team. In the end, though, I feel disillusioned.

If I was on premium time I would be peeved, not just disillusioned.

The problem is not the default option.

The problem is that what was the default option no longer exists and will not exist until they supposedly go through some arcane code-gymnastics to undo the change they made, which makes me wonder what sort of crazy ad-hoc practices they use down there.

At this point, if they aren't rushing to put out a hotfix... it's truly not important to them.

Even if the "fix" wasn't quick, it's the price you pay for not consulting with that "vocal minority".

To Paul or any one from PGI that is still reading this forum.[/color]

Having worked in development for the past 14 years, from testing to QC and support I thought I had seen it all. PGI you have proven me wrong. At the very least PGI should have the option to roll back code, it is a standard in developing software! IF you do not have that option, YOUR ONLY focus today should be building and testing and installing a HOT FIX to return the fire current selected group option back in to the game.

The FIRE CURRENT SELECTED mapping option IS NOT an OPTION that can BE REMOVE. Trying to map to group one button or any other option is not the solution. It will only cause additional issues moving forward with MWO. As for new players coming in to the game, they need to learn how it is played. THIS IS NOT SOME SIMPLE MINDED ARCADE GAME!!!!

PGI you have in your hands a gold mine in the gaming world with the potential to take it beyond the current PVP play stile.

PLEASE RETURN THE OPTION ASAP, and give everyone 30 days of premium game time as a show of good faith to all of you customers, at the very least all of your paying customers.

Are you people running this show an unfunny joke or what? As per all previous posts on the topic: bring the option back idiots and please refrain from making such misguided "improvements" in future.

I bet they did not bother disabling the actual code and you could still edit the defaultProfile.xml with your notepad to enable the "fire currently selected weapon group".

Call me paranoid but I backup my USER folder before every patch... just in case they mess up my key bindings.

Planning ahead and fire control are OP.

PGI, what kind of ignorami do you think we are that play your game? We PC gamers like to have MORE depth and MORE options in our games. If I wanted to play dumbed down fodder for the masses i'd own a console.

Your game IS hard to learn and certainly not new player friendly. But that is WHY we play. PC gamers like challenging games.

So, it took an email to Russ Bullock (PGI CEO), but I finally got an answer. To his credit, I sent him the email late last night, and I had an answer when I woke up this morning... he answered the email from his Iphone.

Quote

All corrected Nov 19th patch sorry for the disruption

Sent from my iPhone

Now, having to wait 2 full weeks without playing (while paying for premium time) is not the answer (hotfix) I was hoping for, but its one I can accept. And he gets kudos for responding back to me in a timely fashion. Im still miffed about the premium time getting burned, and the bad decision making that led to the option being removed in the first place, but im cooler about it than I was.

Restoring a control feature that's been in the game since early beta (if not alpha, but I wasn't around), in a minumum of 11 days from now...

This squid is not nearly that happy.

Not a control setup I use, in fact I hadn't even thought about using "Fire Selected Group" even a bit.

If you do use this setup and you've activated premium time, I would send a ticket to Support@mwomercs.com and get them to stop your premium time.

Since this was PGI's direct error they should be willing to help.

I would be borderline livid at this lack of foresight.
