It happens on any mech.

This is a left over from when Ravens were unhittable and PGI made the hit boxes larger to compensate(but forgot to revert the change when they fixed the issue that made ravens hard to hit).

this is a dirrect result of a mech being broken and exploitable then fixed. you said you have been a long time raven pilot, in this case you should be able to remember a time 8-6 months ago when the raven was the go to mech for light pilots same as the spider is today. it was broken and nearly indestructable, before HSR was introduced they did a fix to the raven making the hit boxes bigger which at the time solved the problem with them being OP. how ever when HSR was introduced the raven became even easyer to hit making it possibly the most under powered light mech in the game. all the same its the result of a broken exploitable mech geting what it deserved.......lets hope the spider gets the same treatment!!

Forgat about the hitboxes . Its a light mech without a fast engine . That alone should make people stay away from it .

The Spider is hardly the go-to light right now. The difference is that it actually made the Raven good. The Spider is still bad.

people have there preferences i guess there are a lot of peeps leveling locus atm but i still see droves of spiders and they are nearly always the last mech left alive on the battlefield. they are a good comparison to what the raven used to be.

Spiders are the last mech alive on the battlefield for two reasons only: They are good sniping platforms; Ridgerush happy assaults.
I currently play a lot of 3L and 5D, and they're both comparable in survivability. The big difference is that I'll drop in a Raven if I want to do damage and get kills, and in the Spider if I want to have fun.

Never claimed I was a long time pilot of the raven and I'm not compared to others, I wasn't there when ravens were impossible to hit, all I know is that they made the hitboxes bigger sometime ago and never changed it after HSR fixed the raven issue or something. I had the raven since 5 months ago I think. I don't think its very fair that the hitboxes on the raven are oversized, if what some people are saying about oversized hitboxes has any truth. I agree though that the spider should have it's hitboxes fixed so that it's H. registration actually works.

Raven is still a good mech, just has a few over sized hitboxes in some places or so it seems.

I disagree.A Raven 3L is probably half as survivable as the Spider 5D if not even a wider margin but I will remain conservative.
I also pilot both Raven 3Ls and Spider 5Ds frequently (along with my Jenners that I have come to prefer)
The Spider chassis still fail to register hits with alarming frequency this on top of having a slimmer profile and jumpjets make a Spider conciderably harder to hit and destroy.
Conversely the Ravens have longer target profiles no jumpjets and almost always register hits.
A typical Raven 3L weapon payload is 3 medium lasers and 2 SSRM2s
A common Spider 5D weapon payload is 3 medium pulse lasers.
So what we are looking at is the spider doesn't get the streaks but instead gets a slimmer profile, jumpjets, higher speed, and partial invulnerability.

My current Spider-5D sports 2 ERLLs, and is thus normally shielded behind a mountain for best effect, whereas my Ravens are normally pure brawlers. In each case I'm generally the last to die on my team. Maybe your Spider gets invulnerability, but mine doesn't for sure, which is why I don't like the 3MPL setup, it just takes too much effort to get results compared to the ranged builds.
