If this was taken into consideration for the patch change, thank you for listening. Any developer would be wise to take your example and run with it. Listening to your core population is what's going to carry this game forward.
If the change was done without my influence, well then, thanks anyway!

ps- I use seismic a lot but I did think it was op until this last patch.

Agree...why can't a light mech pick up anything heavy than a light while moving?
If PGI wants role warfare, they should stop applying things across the board and instead make it dependent on the mech in use at the time.

Why is it that every time the term "role warfare" is brought up, it's in support of an idea that Lights should get magical, hand-wavey advantages over everything else?
The lightest mech in the game is 20 tons. Do you understand? I mean, have you really looked at the concept of what it would be like to have 20 tons pounding along on 2 legs? Not rolling on wheels or tracks. Don't try to compare it to a semi truck or tank. It's stepping along on legs. That's roughly 3 full-grown African elephants, but on 1/6 the number of legs. And moving a lot faster.
Now if you want to suggest that a mech moving very slowly should still be able to maintain enough ground contact that seismic works, or that a slow-moving mech could limit the range it's detected at, similar to a human limiting the sound of footsteps by shifting weight slowly, that would make some sense. But suggesting a Light mech running along at 170kph isn't making a helluva racket, and has enough ground contact to track seismic tremors, but an Assault moving at 60kph in noisy and doesn't have the ground contact, is just begging for something you want. It has nothing to do with balance or sense. Because a Light mech, is by no means light.

When seismic first dropped into the game, there were an overwhelming number of suggestions to the effect that detection range should be based on the size of the detected mech (lights have to be very close to be detected, detection range increases with weight) and movement of the detecting mech (moving faster == less effective range, stopped == full range).
Probably prohibitively complex to code given the resources available, so we got what we got. Less dynamic, but it's better than it was.

I love the lack of application of the Cube-Square law in this game for balance. Not.
