I'd like the Wolfhound, Panther, and Urbanmech, even though none of them will fare particularly well in the MWO meta.

I agree with this one. I think this game has plenty of high-end, power-gamer mechs. It's time to put some character in there. I'm willing to bet a good pilot in a truly awful Urbanmech will still have a ball playing, even if they die every single game (and they'll get some kills with that AC20, I'm sure, especially if it's given a nearly 180º torso twist).

This is a game: it should be about fun. A lot of people want to have an Urbanmech, or Hatchetman, or other mech that was great on the TT, but will probably not be so good in MWO. So fill out the "good build" mechs, then start making a few of the fun mechs for everyone else that maybe put fun a little higher than winning.

Here's the REAL Valkyrie.....

Yup, this is the original TRO:3025 art:

Although I don't see what would be so great with it; stock it has two hard points; a LRM-10 and a ML. None of the period variants have more or different hard points either.

And of course it's Unseen.

I think it's time for the Urbie; of all the ones talked about, that one fills all the criteria (humanoid, controversial, specialist) AND they've already got a low-poly model of it:

Why not eventually add as many 'Mechs as possible to the game. Sure you will have overlap, but who cares. People remember using these 'Mechs from their childhood and have fond memories of using the 'Mech. They should add as many 'Mechs as possible to the game.

Wholly on board with this idea. Even if the Battlemaster had absolutely been terrible, I would have still bought one and piloted it. It was my favorite TT mech, and I would spend HOURS drawing them when I was younger. Yes - there are some gamers out there who want the most powerful mech they can get and they will constantly tweak that mech to get the highest DPS or Alpha they can and that's all they play this game for.

I play this game as much for nostalgia than anything else, and mechs like the Wolfhound, Panther, Hatchetman, Urbanmech, Clint, and so on are just fun. Yes, other mechs already in the game do their roles better. It's not about that: it's about fun. I'd love to have as many mechs in the game as possible.

"The Awesome's side torsos are gigantic, but they don't quite poke up enough to be hit from space. Can we fix that?"

Both mechs were in the Battletech animated series, so I approve.

Imagine something like a Phoenix Package, but only with mechs from Battletech Animated Series.

Assault: Mauler
Heavy: Axman
Medium: Bushwacker (we've abandoned the timeline anyway)
Light: Wolfhound

Call it the Somerset Package.

I think the Mauler would be an awesome addition...BUT, if it is EVER added, I wouldn't recommend an XL engine .

Then again, if the Madcat makes it to MWO and they add extra shoulder hitboxes for the missiles on that mech, they might do something similar for a mech like this as well.

Really while that picture of the Mauler is horrible, the TRO version of it does not have massive missile boxes. Instead they are more sunken.
Posted Image
However no variants of the Mauler fit our timeline so it is extremely unlikely we will see it anytime soon. The three variants rule is massively harmful to mechs that are 'newer' designs at this point in the timeline. It's kind of funny that because most new mechs tend to have 1 variant at most that we cannot have them.

The sunken-head Mauler doesn't really do it for me. It looks like an Awesome, except someone punched its head halfway down into its belly. I prefer the version with really tall LRM-boxes, covered by the really tall shoulder-mounted blast shields.

I also think the Mauler is like the Awesome in that it's a very bad shape for a shooter like MWO, and you can't really design your way around that without compromising the unique look of the mech. Instead, you need to balance its weakness with some appealing chassis traits.

While the Firestarter is specialized and humanoid, I'm not sure why it's "Controversial". You can just strip Flamers and make your Mlas boat. I entirely think it's what we're going to see, and I'm glad for that. However, for fun's sake, want to know a specialized (recon hunting) and humanoid mech that would DEFINITELY be controversial?

The Venom. If people loved the Spider, they'll love its 35 ton combat specialized chassis. It moves at a max speed of 168.48 kph, 240m jump capability, and has more weapon hardpoints than the spider (though side torso mounted). It also has 3 variants in the timeline, the SDR-9KA, 9KB, and 9KC.

Do I smell a Hero Spider? Otherwise, just add more variants to the chassis.... "Combat Specialized"... HA!
