It's ridiculous, and it perfectly illustrates how much better those mechs are when it comes to two decent pilots against each other.

Yes, a great locust pilot with a good connection can kill a terrible jenner pilot, but that's not the comparison.

It's when you match an average player like me in a locust with an average player in a jenner. The Jenner is functionally as fast, due to jump jets and so many jenner pilots with speed tweak. And it viciously outguns the locust, and can kill it before I can even begin to get out of range. It just sweeps my legs with those medium lasers, and if I try to maneuver on it, it just laughs and uses its extreme torso twist to shoot me anyways.

I want to like the locust, but it's extremely difficult to xp when you're constantly thrown into matches against lights who are almost double your weight. I can't cap when Raven 3L and Jenners contest it, because they can just gun me down. Speed doesn't f**king matter unless I'm in those rare conquest games where the other team got no lights and I'm the only one on my side. Even then, god help me if I run into a medium who can ambush me and aim, because I lose a leg in no time at all.

Sorry for the tears, but I bought a phoenix package with the expectation that all 12 mechs would be functional, rather than have three of them be just target practice for people sharpening up their spider hunting skills.

Caveat Empor apllies here. Its a 20 ton mech with no real role in this game as it stands. Sorry but thats the facts.

Well, there's only "loose weight matching" being done since ELO is calculated per weight class.

On the other hand, Lolcusts are great for boosting my Commando's K-D ratio.... even if 2 Locusts are double teaming me.

So, you figure out the inequities of your own proposition.

Sad, but true. I can't complain about getting killed by mechs 15 tons heavier than me, but I can definitely point to PGI and ask "why did you even bother to introduce a mech that is completely inferior at it's intended role to mechs that already exist?"

Honestly, I view two of the variants as death machines, and refuse to run them when I'm grouped up with members of my unit, because I don't want to screw them in a four man with a garbage mech. The laser variant is the only one worth running, and if anyone decides to shoot you, you're toast.

PGI is laughng all the way to the bank. That the really sad point when you promise for cash and really dont deliver. I put any purchase on hold for now. I have supported the game but there is a limit when you see {Scrap} like this.

Jenners are the Kings and Queens of the Lights, and Locusts are the lowly Peons.

Their only hope for some kind of salvation is role warfare - but PGI is being wevvy wevvy qwiet about that, so don't get your hopes up.

They had the stats out for the locusts long be4 the phoenix package went live. They even gave you time to get a refund. There were no secrets. What was promised was delivered.

Don't bother. Commandos do things Locusts can't do. Like, survive longer than 10 seconds in light vs light combat.

No matter how hard the devs want to make it equal for every mech. It's is not going to be without giving lighter mechs an advantage. But they won't do that past a certain point.

So I agree that they should balance tonnage better. But if even a Commander is decidedly better. Then there's really nothing that can save the Locust.

Except for tonnage limits. you can take a victor and a locust vs 1 atlas in example if we had BV/Tonnage limits.

Except you each get the same number of players...so by taking a locust you are 11v12.

It is pretty surprising that they raised the engine size for mechs other than the Locust. I mean, speed was really their only hope to be different and useful.

The problem with your example is that this game has a static number of players on each team. You cannot bring more players than the enemy, unless some of the enemy team disconnects or encounters some other glitch.

Let's look at a more appropriate example:

TEAM 1
Jenner = 35 tons
Cataphract = 70 tons
Total = 105 tons and 2 highly effective players

TEAM 2
Locust = 20 tons
Stalker/Battlemaster = 85 tons
Total = 105 tons and only 1 effective player

It's a 2 on 1 battle.

No reason we couldnt have 12v10 with proper tonnage limits and battlevalue. Nevemind that theres also the option to simply calc lance tonnages in which case again a victor & locust vs an atlas could be done.

ie 1 awesome, 1 victor, 2 locusts, vs 2 jaeggermech 2 raven in example.

It's a 2 on 1 battle, despite equal tonnage.

Your math is off, but for PGI... "that's close enough".
