I took the best parts from Shortpainter's Marauder and one of Bishop Steiner's Marauder designs and added a few minor parts myself till I had the Marauder of my dreams. I'd really love to see this made someday, either in game or as a figure I can field on the board.
Just wanted to share.

Btw. I just realized that some of the younger players might not know how the MARAUDER originally looked like, since it is "Unseen".
Some time ago I posted a few pics of a model I built, so if you are interested have a look:

If I had any modeling skills, I would replace the ends of the arms by mounting Urbanmechs. Just saying.
Props and good luck to all of the contestants!

Is it the low amount of detail, or just the design with the shields that make people not liking it?
I'd like to know what you guys like the least in the design/image, or if there is anything you like at all. Don't be shy

Ok, but please take this as friendly advice. I think having such a large image takes it down a bit. I mean; it's so small in the preview. Perhaps just showing the final design would have helped to make a larger statement. The concept is solid enough. I think perhaps just loosening up a bit, and adding some more details would help. Proportions are critical too.
We are all at different levels-- and while some here are masterfully rendered, I think design wise even these feel "off" in one way or another. The same is easily said for my own work, and as I said earlier; I much prefer aspects of other designs. I know the tight time frame is what killed some of our results. It's important not to take your work too seriously though. I mean, it's cool to work hard, and have great art. Not so cool to look down your nose at others just because you were gifted with talent—but this happens all the time. Just have fun, and keep at it. It will happen.
Slainte!

For me when voting I was trying to keep the votes low otherwise I would be voting for just about all the designs. To be as fair as possible to everyone I made a list of what I thought to be true to the Marauder.
- Had to have a shape similar to a Timber Wolf. Since in lore, when the Timber Wolf was first encountered the computer mistook it for a Marauder and a Catapult hence the Madcat designation. So I figured the shape would have to be close to it.
- Have the legs of a Cataphract. In the lore of how the Cataphract was built it states that the spare parts of the Marauder, Shadow Hawk, and Phoenix Hawk. Since the Marauder was the only chicken walker of the 3, it makes sense that they would have the same legs.
With your design, while being good, did not have me thinking Marauder. It looks more Nova to me with that torso and legs shape (minus the AC5 cannon). Hopefully this helps you out some, at least for my reasoning and do not let yourself become discouraged.

I am kind of wondering if people aren’t aware that by clicking on the images brings up a full view of the image, and your primary image is just too small. I think this is likely the same with GalaxayBluestar’s image as well where the majority of the finer details cannot be seen (like the overlord cockpit item) in the smaller preview image in the post.
But that is just my assumption. I think I’ll add in the post that you can click on images to full-view them.

sure.
Just not FAT.
The mech can be lean, and dangerous. Just can't take the Kate Moss skinny of the Phoenix TRO, or some of the other drawings.

Hey Reno,
Well a couple of things. First, I only voted for what I felt were the top 5, and even if I had not decided to not vote for myself before, I don't feel mine is one of the top 5, either.
As for the design itself:
1) I do feel you should have focused on the finished only, the rest is a bit distracting, but that is minor
2) There were a few proportioning issues, for my tastes. Compared to the rest of the mech, the cockpit feels overlarge. Also the waist is too tucked into the torso, and seems too small, overall. And the legs really need more heft.
A lot of individual elements are real interesting, and the general theme is sound, but I felt those things did detract from it.
Just my 2 cts, still felt it was solid work.

this is one with sooo much potential, that got derailed by just a couple of small things for me.
So much attention to mechanical detail, looks awesome, but did not address the engineering flaws of the original. The legs would be real clumsy still and walking near impossible with the center of gravity. This one would benefit awesomely by using the Cicada like flexible ankle sheaths. Also for balance sakes, the arms being further back, and the upper arms being a skosh longer would be important.
Only other knock is that it does feel a lot like a Vulture. That said, add a little heft, fix the engineering flaws and this could make a very very cool candidate for the Marauder IIC. I WISH I was capable of this level of design detail.

Thank you very much for the replies and everything is welcome and no offense taken at all, no matter what you wrote/write
Speaking of focusing on the final image, if you like to add this to the post, or replace the image, it might also help, MoonUnitBeta.

SUBMISSION #24:\_"GONE MARAUDING" by ResidentCrow

This one was a favorite the first time i saw it!!! I loved the lines, how you took a very round design and implemented the current style of MWO mechs into it!! It came out very well indeed! I could see this being done as a re-seen the way the project Phoenix Mechs were done!!
SUBMISSION #27:\_"MARAUDER MAD-3R PHOENIX VARIANT" by Silversword
While i doubt this would pass the sniff test they had to go through to get Project Phoenix mechs re-seen, the artwork here is glorious!!! There is no doubting this is a Marauder, and its taken design queues from current MWO mechs. It cannot be mistaken with a Cataphract, it looks its weight class, and the addition of the Project Phoenix colors was just icing on one impressive cake!!
Now on to my two choices for the Marauder II
SUBMISSION #18:\_by Marcobra
What an awesome design!!! It fits the current mech style, has great symmetry, clean lines and most importantly of all......Looks very aggressive!!! EPIC job on this one. Of all four, this might be my favorite design just for how well put together it is. If they could "trim the fat a bit" on this big boy the design would work well at 75 tons too.
SUBMISSION #25:\_by Shimmering Sword
This is my honorable mention. This mech just looks like a lumbering 100 ton mountain of metal!! No denying this is a Marauder variant just by the cleanly set profile. Well done!

Base mostly on how i would like to see it in game.
But big thumbs up to everyone who has the talent and guts to enter

Hi, it’s not something I would normally do, but since it is the exact same design and you’re only removing your work-in-progress chunk I’ll let it slide this time. I can understand how little issues like this can be missed. I would not consider reposting tweaks or additions to the final design.

I feel they coalesce with the other mech designs the best.
