... and not only does it still a pulse ...

It has legs ... and it RUNS instead of shuffles!

Not bad for a sixteen year old game!

Two of three new mods for TA, all high quality:

TA: Zero

The glowing effect around the underwater building up there is, I think, an energy shield (something recently made to work).
And also there's a fantastic new community made patch for the game, adding all sorts of compelling new features, and fixing bugs that many considered impossible to fix... and removing limits on modders too.

To download the mods and the patch mentioned, and get more info:

http://www.taunivers...ead.php?t=43736

Basically, they've updated the unofficial patch again, with more compelling fixes and new features. Now, TA has the ability to zoom out via the mousewheel to a strategic display, from which you can do anything you could do on the zoomed in view, amongst many other compelling things listed in the spoiler fold:

Yes, TA is still available to buy. I belive there's even a GOG version!

I love Total Annihilation, spend crazy amounts of time on that game back in the day. Since it doesn't run on my system anymore (and I'm unable to install The Core Contingency) I've switched to Supreme Commander (the first one and Forged Alliance, Supreme Commander 2 sucks), which I consider to be a kind of Total Annihilaton 2.
Would love to play TA again though, maybe I should try one of those mods.

I'm also really looking forward to Planetary Annihilation.

You should ask Marcobra, he has Wargaming Seattle (Chris Taylor and Total Annihilation 2 studio) listed as his current employer on his resume. Maybe if we asked Maskirovka or MIIO kindly enough, they'd get some stuff out of him.

As far as T:A goes, I'm an RTS enthusiast since the day I played my first serious game when I was 4, so you can imagine what my opinion on the franchise/type of games is.

Hey, space is dark.

Go Arm or go home, Pewee rush the Core fools to death. Not sending enough Pewees? then its Hammer time.

God, this was my first RTS ever. I still have it on an emulator, that and I play TA spring whenever I can get a good 4v4 going.
Anyone else currently play Spring, or are planning on getting PA?

You should go ask the guys on the forums @ www.tauniverse.com... I'll bet there's a workaround for your problem.

I have to say, I am LOVING the "megamap" function.

Hey did you guys get the third party units that adds battlemechs to it?

I'll see if I can find a screenie, but you get the Warhammer, Marauder, Longbow and a few others to stomp around in. Level 3 tech.

Yeah, I've used both of those mods. They do put mechs into the game, but those mods were never fully completed. Still, they're worth looking at.

I think you can find them both for download at the TA universe website.

ahah, I love TA. I used to play against my brother and he'd hate it because I always end up building Big Berthas (or w/e they're called) all around my base and he could never through. Fun times :(

To make this closer to On-Topic: Total Battletech

Unfortunately there is no way to get that mod to run with the GoG version of TA due to the way it changes certain files, however if you have access to the original game its one you should definitely check out.
