My last post on this.

Here are some facts. Search the forums over the last say, 2-3 months. Tell me how many posts there are with people saying that Commandos are OP, how about Jenners, Raven. Oh wait, Locusts. You wont find any. So since your all about facts. Explain to me that. People have no prob hitting locast, jenner, raven or commandos. You dont see posts on them. Why not? Everyone is super good at hitting all of them but are incapable of hitting the Spider? Before HSR no one had problems hitting SPiders. Since, the hit detection is iffy at best. Sometimes I can kill them easy, sometimes it will take me several alphas. I know hit detection is iffy all over the place but why the big uproar on Spiders. WHY? Im wondering and would love a good explaination. If its just hit detection on the Spider itself, then yes, its a broken mech and should be fixed. I just want to see your reason why no one else complains about any other light. Please enlighten us why everyone is mad about 1 mech and not any other mech in game.
The spider also has a significantly different design than any of these mechs, all of which have much larger upper torsos. in the case of the commando the torso and arms form a much easier block to hit.
The spiders side profile is ultra thin and the legs are the smallest in the game in thickness, size. Add to that the extended arms at angles and the curved upper body and many many ballistics shots miss because of convergence in the arms vs convergence in the torso requiring the proper pilot understanding to hit things effectively.
The locust has a huge fat upper body and it's legs are conjoined with that body, and it is quite large as well as having 10 tons less than a spider.
the locust might could be a bit smaller. The spider does appear to give some trouble though and since changes are coming to the hitboxes the spider will hopefully be tweaked to fix any problems.
Mostly though all of these complaints come down to the shape and size of the spider and player failure to understand how to kill one. I run into plenty of ppc/ac20 pilots that know what they are doing and can 1-2 shot spiders with no problems.
I myself have 0 troubles killing spiders with the right weapons like ac/20 or ppc/streaks.
On the other hand once you factor shape and then you see players trying to hit an object going 150kph across 1 second in a tiny tiny optimally designed mech and wondering why they can't damage it...
Spiders are a top tier mech for veteran pilots, and I think a lot of the whine around here fails to factor that into account. Spiders die incredibly quickly if they are not careful, and the percieved toughness of the spider is indeed not so tough - I've run my raven 4X and locust 3M just as effectively given their lack of ECM or in the second case no ecm or jets.
With the 5D you can mount an ECM, an ERPPC and some lasers, and then if you put someone behind the wheel who knows what they are doing you can see a 500+ dmg match sometimes, and a 750+ very rarely.
But mostly even such spiders are doing only 200-400 a match on average. The machine gun spider is nice but it's still more a lucky cleanup mech than a cold killer.
The raven 3L can still eat spiders for lunch.
wait for the hit box changes first.
then report back in. hopefully some of the higher ping HSR issues some players seem to have will be resolved with the hitbox cleanup the spider is getting.
