Although yea, that would be cruel. I look forward to the day (that day will come.... no idea when, but it will come!) where saying that will actually be truthful.

This is pretty much where I'm coming from...I like the game, I want it to succeed, but right now, as in...tomorrow we should be seeing UI 2.0 (Bryan said at the Launch Party on Sept 26th - 4 to 6 weeks until you have UI 2.0 in the game). If it doesn't drop in December, then we will know that NO estimated deadline in this game means anything...Ever. After the launch event and talking to Paul, Bryan and some of the folks from IGP, I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and see if they could meet the next couple of deadlines for UI 2.0, DX11 and Phase 1 of CW. Right now...things are looking pretty shaky to say the least.
I'm not a White Knight or a hater/QQer... I really love the MechWarrior franchise, I just want the content they promised us that is already waaaaay overdue. Like I've said before, I want this game to succeed for so many reasons.

It's a small thing, but there's also no peep about the Locust nor Phoenixes in the official "mechs" section.

More and more of my friends are spending less and less time on MWO, myself included, and the things i'm hearing from friends over and over is, "Dead By December".. I don't think this will be the case, but a lot of people I know are saying if a miracle doesn't happen by December, then they will just consider MWO an after-thought, something to look in on once in a while, but their wallets will essentially be closed, and I can understand that sentiment completely. As for myself, I will reserve my judgement for a couple of more months, and I haven't spent much on MWO for a long time now and I won't until I see things happen, I skipped the Pheonix pack because I saw the release date of the Mechs for what it was, crumbs from the table. If you look at when MWO was officially considered a launch, and then when the Pheonix pack was actually released, it was pretty clear what was going on. My good friend said "Yep, just stringing us along, it was just enough to get me to buy it".. Now he plays maybe once a week.
So is MWO too little too late..?? Has the window of opportunity closed for a lot of players??
Only time will tell.
I hope MWO succeeds, and I hope I have the patience to wait that long.

I don't know what to tell you - there actually hasn't been much rage or tears around here and I think that is a little scary. It's almost as though we're just going through the motions but no one is really into it.
If you look at the forums of the massively successful Blizzard games you'll see roiling waves of bile and vitriol, but the thing you won't see there is apathy.
Apathy gives me more reason to be worried about the future than either rage or tears.
Edit> Hang on, I might be able to get some of one or the other out of Ingvay....

Basically. I mean I've stuck with them for over a year now, but Jesus it gets hard to have any hope whatsoever. They keep giving us deadlines that are "a couple months" out, missing those self-imposed targets, and then offering another "couple months" estimate. First it was January/February, then it was March, then it was early summer, then late summer, then by launch, and now a couple months after launch (and we're missing that, too).
I mean, we saw the test build at least, but it wasn't even close to stable from the little time I had with it. My guess is January or February at the earliest, and that's just soul-crushing considering it's just a ******* UI. Community Warfare is all I really care about, and I'm not sure we'll ever get that magical piece of vaporware.
Their failure to do virtually anything in a timely fashion has depleted my trust. I rarely visit the forums anymore, I don't play as much, I don't hope for as much, and I'm just biding my time until they make me care again.
Whatever. All I can do is hope it has enough players to sustain it and that they eventually hit a deadline. It's a race against Star Citizen, and I hope for PGI's sake they can pull it off.

Not to mention that private, moddable servers would divide playerbase and kill one of the main selling points of this game - alive, persistent universe.
The same way Guild wars 2 and the secret world still sutain themselves.
Expansions and ingame shop and ofcourse the initial payment to actualy buy the game.
Private servers will also not be run on company hardware so they actually just have to take care of their one "official" persistant world.
The game will also be sold at full retail price. Basicly they give you a single player, a multy player, and a mmo in one. If they are actualy capable of delivering all that tends to be seen.
I for one dont really care for the single player that much but then again i do like the X series of games... kept for x rebirth... fragging console port wanna be piece of bugs...

I wouldn't call it apathy. I think it's TRULY nothing to talk about. Since we're in the lulls between content releases.
Wait until tomorrow, some change will be made that will cause people to loose their **** no matter how insignificant.
Really, there are only a handful of things to complain about, and the same 7 topics are just getting argued to death. How many different ways can you make your for/against arguments on MM/Elo/AC/etc.
On the whole, I think it's a good sign that there is so little to have a bitchfest about, and after back to back patch weeks, we need to re-adjust to the semi-monthly mid-patch lulls.

Yes, I know the timeline has been frozen since before summer when it became obvious the invasion was already terminally delayed, but to me the state of MWO is perfectly encapsulated in their own misrepresentations on the flashy opening screen that a new player might read before diving in. This has been wrong for six months but there's been no effort to correct it, and like the game and the promises of "soon" and the claims on there are a lot of sizzle, but no steak.
Yet you feel the need to remind people of a frozen timeline over and over again with the same impatient adhoms and cute little graphics about how terrible PGI is, or how many white knights there are because some people have a bit more patience than you do.

Nah, Tolkien's alright. You can have a reasonable conversation with him and agree to disagree. He's not one of those who needs to go out for a new keyboard every time PGI moves the goal-post.
Hey, I just realized that Razer and Logitech should probably send PGI a nice Christmas card.

Looking at the price of mechs, and the amount earnt from the Phoenix packages and such, it seems as though they really should be able to afford a few extra hands at this point.... no?
