2K for a handbag and you consider that low end? Yea you have a clue what it's like for those that make less than 2k a month.

In the world of fashion handbags, $2k is low end. Stupid, yes, but he's not off. And I think his point was more that the idea of dollar value is very different from person to person, it wasn't an attempt to boast.

And frankly, just because he isn't poor now doesn't mean he's never been. My wife and I do very well, but I also remember the days of holding a deuce so that I could use the toilet paper at work rather than my own.

Try $300 a month... That was my first paycheck..

You work you buy the things that you like.

Don't complain that digital pixels should cost less.

1. Not sure mine was even that much. So? Doesn't mean you learned anything from it, or that you weren't raised rich etc. Or even that you haven't lost touch.

2. True. My issue wasn't with you buying things etc. It was with the attitude it seemed you were taking.

3. Sorry, what? Where did I say they cost "too much"? Maybe too much for me, but that is different. I mean what I say, which is why I use the words I do. I am going to upgrade to the Overlord pack, and i truly regret not getting the Founders pack. But it is what it is. At the time I didn't think it was worth the gamble.

1. Oh I know how much they can cost. Some of my MiL's bags would make a nice dent in my mortgage! It may have been, but I didn't get that. If I was wrong, well then mea culpa and I will apologize.

2. I will never forget having $1.62 in my pocket and needing $152.35 in 23 days to pay my car note. In a small town, and I just lost one of the few jobs there were. Made it for the record, with no help from my folks etc, unless you count letting me work off room and board around the homeplace (8 acres = plenty of work). I get it, and I make sure my son knows he doesn't deserve the life he has simply because he was born, and that he knows where it comes from.

Ever played Warhammer 40K? It seems stupid to spend what $60 on the rule book, then start dropping hundreds to buy models for a basic army, then more for paints and brushes etc. Yet we drop $60 on a video game that will be practically worthless in a few months/years (immediately if you get it on Steam as you can't even sell it then). Whereas models can actually appreciate in value.

So bottom line. We all view this game's prices differently. Let's respect those that are polite, and ignore the rude. (Yes I claim an exception to that rule, I am special!! :))

Of course if we're going to ask this question I do remember EVE had something in the area of an $80 monocle you're character could wear, but not around other players or anything so by that comparison being able to use these in a match is a deal for you (forgive me if I'm fuzzy on EVE). Ultimately it just comes down to your income being disposable and it seeming like a good deal. To me, not so much but a medium on sale wasn't so bad.
Google "monoclegate". It was CCP's initial steps into the world of microtransactions, and it caused a HELL of a lot of outrage within the EVE community.

Which I thought and still do, was stupidity on the part of the community. It had no effect on anyone who didn't buy it. Literally none.

Too many people mouth off when they have no clue, they scream P2W when it's simply an XP buff etc. True P2W is when they constantly churn out new things you have to buy in order to stay competitive. Something like the new Warhammer 40K game where buying the game gives a huge advantage is not the same. The free portion is just that, a free portion. You don't pay, you don't get the whole game. But we all know there will be "outrage" over it being P2W.

MWO has mechs that cost as much as a typical video game. But it also gives you enough bonus cash starting out to buy an Assault class mech and sufficient mech bays to easily Master several mechs in one or more weight classes.

As always, anyone who doesn't like it is free to tell the devs so, and either play or not. The spoiled brats that whine I am telling them to shut up or go away are the ones that get on my nerves. They act like they have a god given right to play this game simply because mommy had too much to drink one night.

Depending on the hard points, hero mechs are pay to have a competitive advantage. That's close enough to pay to win in my book. cant wait for the 6x ballistic 100 ton assault.

Hardly. The Misery is a good mech, but the 3F is also very good and is available with . Many Hero mechs are not the "best" variants, though a few are among the best, and even if they are for a particular player, they're not gamebreakingly superior (specificaly, the Ilya, Heavy Metal, and Misery are among the top Hero mechs, and there are normal variants of those mechs that are just as good)

Lol, yeah. I look at the amount of money I've dumped on 40K and just shake my head. In fact - you know anyone that wants some old school beaky marines?

Thanks for all of the feedback; I'm starting to think of the Hero Mech's as vanity items. The digital equivalent of buying a T-Shirt, poster, or luxury handbag with the MWO Logo. My earlier mistake was in thinking of RMT as an expected alternative to the grind of acquiring new mechs. While it certainly /is/ an alternative, and serves many people well, it it doesn't appear to be the design of the game to facilitate RMT by selling Hero Mechs.

I've spent my $15 on 30 days of premium time, and I'm very happy with that. I had not appreciated how useful premium time is. With the Sales Season approaching, I'm expecting to acquire some more MC soon.

Man, put those things on Ebay under a 40K tag and add variations of beak, beakie etc and you will be rich :D

Finally, kudos to Loch for popping in and giving us feedback on the feedback

I say wait for sales, or just use C-bills to buy those big mechs. It is hard being an assault pilot, just seems like the game costs so much more money.

I wish things were more even, that is for sure, id rather pay a bit more for lights and mediums, and a bit less for heavies and assaults. It just seems unfair that the choice to play a light i could buy and outfit every light there is, for the cost of 3 atlas's..

Just my 2-cents

I would not say that, well fully anyway. they do have a vanity side to them, in the cool paint which is nice. But to me it is more about the hard points.. (if you really are in love with a set up that you can do in one) But the biggest thing to me is the 30% c-bill bonus.

If you have a mech you really love, and it has a hero that you would play 100's of hours in. They are really worth the money.
