Server Lag?

Two games today, everyone affected noone can hit each other people are getting reset to positions again and again.

Game is not even ending after 15 minutes.

Something seems to be haywire with the servers as it doesn't affect all drops?

Been like this for last two days (hadn't played for a couple before the patch). Tried restarting PC rebooting routing, with and without other applications loading but no success... Game just lags almost constantly. Even using the zoom functionallity shows lag.

Premium time going to waste.. mildly annoyed

Did the repair tool do anything in terms of helping?

I can try running the repair tool, but that would means that everyone I was playing with during those game had the same issue, which seems unlikely.

I don't have any hard data to back this up, but since yesterday/two days ago, I've been getting the feeling that only a fraction of my hits are being registered. My ping is normal and seems stable between 110 - 120ms, but since the day before yesterday, I seem to struggle to get 500+ damage in builds that are good for 1000+. And no: It's not my aim or anything, since I do keep a close eye on my crosshairs and do notice if they turn red or not.

Ran it a few times now on different reboots but seems to lockup (the tool) once you try to repair anything ;)

With the current options, clicking 'Fix' below will:
-Resolve any mismatched (invalid) files.
-Remove unneeded local files (if any were found).
-Clean shaders
-Clean local cache of FE images (fresh image will download the next time the game is run).

Had it once a few days ago during a match as described in the starter post and one time during a match but only for short time. Besides those issues all is fine.
I doubt the problem is on the users end.

24 players experiencing the same for one game after which everything is normal again is something I believe to be beyond what the repair tool can do. Upon exiting said games while they were still "on going", you'd find your mech ready to go immediately. The games simply died on server end.

Ok this is what is happening with me... UK player, O2/BE Unlimited ISP, averaging 120-150ms ping. Prior to patch I've had no problems with lag before.

1) Games when starting often go into a black screen for a 10-20 seconds before normal team screen appears
2) Team screen often has missing players (including me). When game starts if I'm a missing player my lance appears empty on the HUD though I can see lancemates in game
3) Game.. just.. lags... Invisible opponents, enemy mechs not registering hits. Chatting lags out completely where I can type but nothing appears when I press enter. Pressing Z to zoom an take from instant to six or seven seconds to respond
4) The killed screen often doesn't show my updated paperdoll (IE can say engine destroyed) but centre and side toros remain intact on paperdoll.
5) Repair tool has been attempted but crashes if trying to fix anything. It doesn't find anything to repair however.

Game unplayable currently and my paid premium time is wasting away.... Paying for a service I'm not receiving with no response.

I was on TeamSpeak with Ingrid while in one of the games he's referring to, and I can confirm that it was pretty awful. However, although people here are reporting this happening once or twice over the last couple of days, I've only had one good game in that period.

ithilkir's response turned up while I was typing this -- looks like he has the same issues. (ithilkir, are you not migrating from O2 to Sky soon? I'm somewhere in that process, and I was wondering if that might be causing problems...)

UK player, O2 Unlimited ISP, averaging 100-130ms ping.
Symptoms are somewhat random, but some or all of these have happened in every match bar that one good one:

- Overly long wait time on the map intro screen (the one with the hints and the spinning "wait" icon). Confirmed by other people in my group already being in the "countdown" player list screen long before me.

- Overly long black screen between intro screen and player list screen.

- Not appearing in player list on "countdown" screen, though I can use the Ready button - sometimes the countdown goes from 60 as if I really was not there (all other slots were full); sometimes it goes from the lower value.

- Opening animation starts late, and continues to play while other mechs are off and running.

- Lance display in normal view shows "No player" in all four slots.

- Map display shows no mechs in on my team.

- Scoreboard shows all mechs in my team, except me!

(If the previous three issues manifest, they sometimes clear up mid-game.)

- If the lance display is working, sometimes lancemates show as still alive even once definitely dead.

- Certain controls (select target, activate/deactivate zoom, switch player in spectator mode) can take up to 10 seconds to respond.

- Some friendly mech triangles remain on HUD and map even when dead for minutes.

- Messages (from system, eg. kill notes, and chat) sometimes not appearing.

- Feedback from mech damage (screen shake, flashes, audio, damage marker, paperdoll) often missing.

- Other mechs appear to stand still, walk on the spot, and teleport about at random. (Oddly enough, very little rubber-banding of my own mech.)

- Own mech continues to move and fire for seconds after "Destroyed" message is displayed.

- Long delay in switching to spectator mode.

- Once in spectator mode, the mech I'm watching walks into walls, fires blindly at nothing, teleports about, and in general behaves as though what the pilot is seeing is completely different from what I'm seeing (confirmed via TeamSpeak).


I have tried restarting my machine, rebooting my internet connection, running diagnostics, and reinstalling the game from scratch, without any improvement. This is definitely not an issue at my end.

The game is essentially unplayable, so I'm writing to PGI to get a refund of my premium time for the duration. (ithilkir, I recommend you do likewise.)

Yea is very bad and spiders still seem broken damage handout is very poor.

Mad Elf -- You have the exact same as me (and yeah with O2 as well like you said) which makes me thing it's a routing issue somewhere, especially if people from other ISP's and countries are experiencing the same issue.

No idea how to help trace it though to find out where the bad hop is since we can't run a tracert to the game servers

I had this once earlier this week.... I had chat stop updating, then everyone seemed to be rubberbanding every 5 seconds back to where they were and firing randomly. I was able to take a battlemaster out in the open all the way across alpine to the enemy base and cap it... no one could apparently see me or hit me and they were all teleporting around on my screen.

We won, and thankfully it didn't happen again but that was some hardcore rubberbanding.

It's a known issue, apparently. The Devs were kind enough to suspend my premium time for the duration of the emergency.

I gave the system a try just there: seemed to be OK, though since there's practically no-one online right now, that may not be representative.
