Oh dear, just read the updated thread.. ..while I can accept the .5 you knocked of the FB since this is a newb thread.. ..this is just lolwut;
Yen-Lo-Wang - [1.5 Star]
Centurion
The YLW goes wrong in exactly one place: It has Centurion arms. Centurion Arms are notoriously easy to hit and are a good reason for the 'mechs legendary durability. It's also why all the successful designs don't put any heavy guns in the arms - no guns at all most of the time. Long story short is if any experience player sees a YLW, they know it has 90% of it's firepower in an easily destroyed area and will cripple you
instantly.
I will defend the YLW with one thing;
KDR of 2.27 (Mostly from pugging). This mech is still as durable as any other centurion and while your main gun is on your right up, it very quickly trains you to utilise torso twist to protect it (using your left arm as a shield). While l33ts will 90% of the time go for the gun, if you utilise your twist + speed, you can increase your longevity. That and it is the perfect mech to learn your boundaries, patiences, how to hit & run etc - a bad YLW pilot will be a BAD YLW pilot, but training yourself in one of these can teach you some valuable skills.
Of course, if you run with the right mechs, chances are like most centurions most of the team will ignore you.. ..and other newb players have a hard time hitting centurions as it is..
..and dont make me have to bring out my 1,298 damage screenshot either...
