I haven't looked into UI 2.0 much or really payed it much attention since its so far out, but damn... that is a terrible UI. as the op stated there is far to much space wasted on redundant images of weapons and engines while the actual mechs loadout seems almost an after thought.

At this point I'd rather PGI completely scrap this supposed "UI2.0" and make a partnership with Smurfy to have that as the official Mechlab. Have it integrate and upload saved configs into the game, and then have the game client just to launch games. My head hurts trying to navigate UI2.0; it gives me like a flu feeling.

The graphical appearance is important to attract people, but even more important is having the essential information or topic as the focal point, so that people know what its all about. There is no focal point. How is it that what's equipped on a mech is on a side tab? Its supposed to be the most important part of the mechlab! Hands down, worst mechlab out of all the games in the MechWarrior series.

I agree. They have let everything pile up behind this when there was an easy viable option out there. It is sad that everything in this game is 100% dependent on UI2.0. Frankly - work on what is needed to keep this game afloat - content. UI wont launch till at least may of next year. They arent even close.

Just keep the old UI and give us lobbies and the CW-stuff. Don't even bother with the mechlab.

most of the screen space is taken up by completely irrelevant, repeating graphics of the gear you can buy (red box)

There are so many issues with it but this single one bubbles to the surface instantly and with it brings the certainty that if THIS is the kind of **** they are doing then they definitely without a question got almost everything else wrong as well.

Or... they are pulling the ultimate troll. They actually have a GOOD UI ready to go, but they dumped their first half-baked attempt on us so that they can turn it around and say "Look! We changed so much that you hated so quickly! We are that skilled."

Keeping the old UI would be a bad first step to replacing it B) This isn't about a mechlab redesign, that's just in there with it... though I would at this point just build the new one with the same layout.

Now it will take another year to improve UI 2.0. B)

Yeah, I managed to get onto the test server for about 10 minutes before it closed and was really really dissapointed.

The menu looks nice but was ultimately frustrating to use, as everything was buried under 10 levels of submenus. I also couldn't figure out how to show the loadout of existing mechs before I began to modify them.

The current menu, while fairly ugly, is pretty functional. This new one? Absolutely unusable. I wonder if the people who designed these menu's actually play the game and know what we actually want to do with it. A redo is in order, and a move to Smurfy style loadout screens would be the best move. I don't want to have to individually check each section to modfiy armour values.

We're really grasping at straws now, aren't we? The fans are saying "I bet they'll have everything ready for Christmas, they just want to surprise us, is all. They've had the UI, CW and clan packages ready all along! Yes, that's definitely what they doing... that's definitely what they're doing..."
Let's just all sit down, hold our knees, gently rock back and forth and repeat "Everything's going to be alright." B)

All those red coloured boxes gives me seizures .... please get rid of this UI 2.0 if it's what it's gonna be like and just take some notes from previous MW games which had UI and Mechlab that people like and worked - is it really that difficult?

Why re-invent the wheel? The UI SHOULD have been bedded down right from the start and incremental improvements made - scrapping the UI and rebuilding it and this is what you can come up with is indeed bad.

Let's hope there's better design and common sense and let's get on to CW, Clans etc before this game goes down south.

The smurfy UI isn't necessarily the way to go either. There isn't a natural flow where you can double click to add items with the full paperdoll layout.

A well designed layout will have several ways to add and remove items from the configuration.

ya 2.0 is a nightmare for mech building and mech buying! anybody else have the problem of seeing tonnage as a solid 79 of 80 yet cant mount a 1 ton item because the screen telling you yer .1 over 79 is hidden and you have to guess!! this is a simple case of breaking something that wasn't broke. they cant even make a fricken u.i you actually think CW is gonna work nope. best thing we can hope is that the canadian military misfires a arty round and takes out pgi headquarters. than maybe igp will hire sombody that can actually make the game work.

I'm not sure who the director for user interface redesign is, but... ugh. How can anyone at PGI really think this is a better direction than what is currently available. Even if this was UI 1.0, wtf?

Not sure if you took my sarcasm seriously but to clear the air anyway, I have basically no expectations beyond being able to continue stompy robot warfare.
