They introduced it a few months ago. Most play primarily 1 pv, and at most hill/corner peak with 3 pv. 3 pv is disabled in 12-man queue.
Otherwise the game is about the same, not more arcade, not more sim.
Artillery and air strikes are pretty good now so watch out for smoke.
Most weapons are viable, though pinpoint alphas with autocannon+ppc are still on top for people who can aim.
Standard SRM's have a bit of hit detection issues on fast mechs, but work on heavy mechs just fine.
Gauss has charge up time, use it in pairs if possible, eg. muromets, jager, or k2 catapult.
Don't fire more than 2 large lasers or ppc's at a time, there is a "ghost heat" penalty for firing too many heavy weapons.

As for the rest... game play is better with a far more balanced weapon set.

The majority of players use the 1st person view, and if you want to participate in direct combat 1PV is superior. 3PV does have some benefits for a scout, however.

Be careful though. Third Person View can kill...

hardly illogical, never mind that they promised that it would never be in, all the other mech warrior titles that had it always seen it exploited in any way possible how is that not the case here?
the rest of that post is opinion and mostly irrelevent to the OP, however the game did loose players from the baited switch, causeing many to have plenty to dislike about 3pv regardless of how breaking it "may or may not" be.

Still yawning... go back to your cave and have an emo fit because a piece of Alpha software... went Beta... and things changed.
:tissue:
Britney Spears You Tube Link (can't actually link it cause of language)
Things change... that is kind of the point about the whole Alpha, Beta, Release cycle.\
Please don't start this emo-rage cycle again. It was counter-productive and useless before and still is...
NO ONE USES 3POV in PUG except the Newbs it was designed for... and no one uses it out of Newb Land because it sucks!

Not FPS. 3PV was nerfed so much, is not playable during combat. It is only good for looking at your purdy mech, and peeking around corners/over ridges without getting shot.

I have to disagree somewhat, 3pv is good in fast mechs without full arms like the Jenner/Locust. At the speed they are going, you want more view than the cockpit view shows. In a fight, the cockpit view can get too crowded, the 3pv has less information, but the information that isn't there isn't critical.

3PV was just a waste of development time that achieved nothing. Nobody really uses it.

My point exactly. You will die a lot trying to do jump+fire manoeuvres in 3PV. The added visibility is only useful while strictly in scouting mode.

I'll admit, I can only pilot locusts in 3PV.
I find it terrible otherwise, but the Locust's cockpit - particularly the Phoenix Variant, with it's extra cage - is so cramped and blocked in, the lack of vision+redonculous speed just doesn't work for me.
But then, I'm a terribad light pilot anyways.

Disregard 3pv, it is but an illusion to satiate those who cried for it. In all reality it is nigh useless.
I remember trying it at one point after its introduction and tbh I felt a bit nauseous what with the odd movement of it.
