I loved the Zone. Too bad it's gone. :)

Read the feedback thread quick, before PGI removes the evidence!

Wow.

Funny. I watched the Bryan demo vid of UI 2.0 and thought--"Man, that's {Scrap}." Now I'm glad I didn't even try it. Sadly... we'll be forced to use it soon enough.

PGI is always trying to overcomplicate everything, all the time. "Keep it stupid simple" are words to live by.

If being a Founder and Overlord customer means I'm automatically a Premium User, then I'm cool with this feature. But if I have to continue to pay money just to get matches quicker, then this will kill the game for me and many others I wager.

The irony to the poll is that the #1 issues surrounding the first alpha test was that it was unstable and has less usability.

That's not a ringing endorsement, considering the those same issues popped up in the second.

Potential customers must be felt like they are being treated fairly, and the use of premium for additional features can either accomplish or destroy that sense of fair treatment. IF you give the non-premium all the features the average player would expect and consider reasonable, you will have a high chance of success. But if you lock just one thing behind a paywall that the average player expects to get for free, you have a high chance of failure and massive backlash.

Now then... because of the longing for private matches, the player base should willingly accept the model you've proposed and I think it is a perfectly fine model...esp considering the game is f2p good job guys, now you just have to execute and deliver. Good luck and plz follow your Design doc, I think whoever is in charge of creating the documentation for this game needs to work on it. Make documentation, communicate with your programmers get them involved in the design stages, if they are already involved get them more involved! The track record of this game just glows with the signs of poor documentation and lack of communication between art, programmers and designers.... sorry kinda went of to a rant there... but yea overall good job with the private matches

You mean the one that is a month older than the one I posted?

Cool story bro.

And yours is still 50% the same or worse. Great success!

Which basically means you're admitting that the latest 'update' to UI 2.0 was received poorly, both in terms of player turnout and the overall impression it left on everyone that participated.

Wait wait wait - "Premium Ready Screen"? Premium Booster for Match Options?

I'm going to say right now this seems like a very, very bad idea. Will reserve judgement to see exactly what premium options there are so far as this goes.

On the ready / not ready business:

Why can't it just be that everyone is ready by default, and then organized teams can un-ready to do any prep work?

And with UI 2.0, why is it that half of what we have been asking for is just not even there at all? Strip mech button? Max armor button? A way to organize mechs in the mechbay? Save configuration button to quickly switch between loadouts?

We continue, sadly, to be underwhelmed. Whelm us. You don't even have to overwhelm us, just... stop underwhelming us. We'll settle for whelming.

Incorporate an option for respawns into Premium Private Match options please!!!

That is very valuable when training. You can kill or be killed to refresh theirs or your mech back to full health and avoid the need to continuously relaunch the match.

My only concern with private matches is that "normal" queue time will be so much that it will make the option unattractive. I have friends who are remiss to join the game as it currently stands. They are looking forward to the prospect of private "training" matches where we can do 1v1 or 2v2 and teach them the ropes. (Much like custom or vs. ai matches that other FTP games offer.)

My issue is going to be selling the game to them if the simple fact that we have to wait 5-10+ minutes to go into a training match. They are already on the fence about the game. I can see it being an issue to other prospective new players.

With that said you guys may want to figure out a way to have a MAX wait time that is acceptable to new users. I have no issue with premium only options, but it will be a real turnoff for people if it turns into a, "buy premium time if you don't want to wait in queue for 10 minutes".

Overall I like it, what makes me a sad panda is that now we are "encouraged" to pay in order to NOT get 3pv, I imagine 1pv is not the default "free" option.

What next? premium option for removing ghost heat?

You're actually planning to charge players for the basic feature of picking a map for a private game? Oh dear :)

I'm not sure how having a "premium booster" differs from having premium time ticking, but it sounds like you might be making things overly complicated. Just require that premium time be active by the match creator to host a private match or, perhaps, to use certain rulesets. If you want the additional server load to be sponsored by paid time, there's no need to add additional mechanics to support that.

Granted, my opinion could be totally knee-jerk based on the introduction of a new item we haven't yet seen described.

Premium booster?

For real?

I paid 60 bucks for a game in the past. I played as many damn custom private matches I wanted to for not a cent more. Now you want to nickel and dime us even further?

Keep hitting the pipe, PGI. You're going to greed yourself out of business.

LOL! Keep hitting the pipe, dude. You're going to stumble on to the truth at some point along the way. LOL!

That is cute. I would bet MC that most of the votes in the last 2 entries did not even participate in the Test. It was a Test ffs.

You tested the second iteration then? How did you find the revised Paint/Camo screen setup?

I think that would be a bad thing to require private matches to always be "paid for". Look at it from the aspect of other FTP games. Many of them have custom matches where players can play vs. their friends or vs. AI. Those do not cost extra, don't require a wait time and are pretty good training grounds. Now I have no issue dealing with a small wait time. But requiring money to play a training match would be a bad idea. Better that they look at income streams elsewhere to support that.

You don't have to pay to play in a private match. Aside from map selection, every feature on the premium side is available for free.
