You don't have to pay to play in a private match. Aside from map selection, every feature on the premium side is available for free.

Yes, I know. Was just counter pointing an earlier post.

Heffay is actually just a white knight bot coded by PGI in their spare time (they have so much from the looks of it) that responds to whatever 'flavor of the week' keywords are posted.

Our goal for the Preview was to obtain Functionality feedback first....

"Our Goal"... So you're a programer with PGI as well as a forum moderator?
I guess we do learn something new every day. :)

I guess we know who to direct "Our" questions to now.. Good to know, thanks.

I don't think it's really that unreasonable that PGI tell IGP's community rep what they expect to get out of the public tests, especially since Niko is the one who posts about them. I mean, you can't knock Niko; I'm glad that there is at least one person from PGIIGP who is willing to post every day and try to communicate with the player base.

Do you remember this?

Mercnet was free. It required you pass an IQ test to play on it, but if you did, everything was free. Activision provided the server for years... for free. You logged on, sorted your drops with players and then it was peer-2-peer from there.

It was also better than the Zone. ;)

lol

I was in Texas eating copious amounts of beef. I missed it. :D I hear it was bad? :P

Ohhh blastman, you forget all the lovely codes you could use to change your name color as such:

JDHammer&W~&BPS&W~

so yea, i remember all the way to netmech, some 15 years ago.

You tested the second iteration then? How did you find the revised Paint/Camo screen setup?

I didn't bother. After reading all the posts, I knew I'd be fed up with the same.

It's not as if the armor section was unified (completely backwards to UI 1.5) or the game not miserably crashing on its own.

I'm not sure how disappointing myself further would be a good thing.

Bryan Ekman:

We have identified a need from our user base for supporting competitive play between groups of players, and by guilds wanting to practice or train.

About 12+ months to late.

Is this decision "influenced" by the failtastic launch-event where people messed up syncing drops so often?

The queue should be sorted by first come first server into two tiers. Premium Users and Basic Users. Within the premium user queue, matches are ranked and order based on their aggregate Premium User Score. This is defined as the sum of all players current active premium booster time left.

Premium Match

If the match creator has a premium booster (details forthcoming), they will have access to the premium ready screen options.

It seems really chintzy to have to pay in order to set parameters on an arranged match. I can understand offering some precedence to subscribers because they should get some perks, but putting basic match parameter functionalities behind a paywall just looks greedy.

they have already stated no rewards for private matches (which makes sense to avoid farming) but now on top of no rewards you have to pay premium booster or monthly rate for the ability to not earn any in-game CB. Sweet.

I honestly don't care a straw if I have to pay for private matches (even though the current design allows you to host matches for free).

The times when I most enjoy this game are when my unit is able to field enough players to sync two 12-mans together and just our own thing. Gunfighter Duels, are the current selection, but if we could actually do this without needing 24 people online, you'd be amazed at the amount of different things we can come up with.

Give us the tools to create our own content and you'll be amazed how long we can entertain ourselves for.

This is starting to sound ridiculous....

We will have a leveling system coming (1 to 60 or something)
there is some sort of loyalty system coming
there is xp, GXP, cbills, premium time, champion mechs, hero mechs, phoenix mechs

and now... premium booster!

I want to just hop in a mech and play with my friends, not have to level up a million different categories, all of them requiring some sort of payment in order to do it in a time-frame that is still ridiculously long (as opposed to impossibly long) etc. etc...

Just stick to the basics and make it fun to play. You'll get your money through mech purchases and premium time from more people playing the game, not finding new things to charge for from the existing player base.

I'm at the point now where I've leveled 2 mechs of my phoenix package, and I'm really hesitant to start on a new mech chassis because the grind sucks so bad. I mean after 4 or 5 months I only have my victors and the phoenix package, 2 of the victors I purchased with MC, and I've only leveled 3 total chassis. It's ridiculous, and so boring. I find myself playing a lot less lately. I don't know if I can handle some other version of the grind. I've had premium time the entire time.

I'd really like to see the ability to exclude certain weapons/mechs/modules/consumables from private matches. Makes it much easier to deal with the odd borked balance patch.

The proposed time limit is too short. While I don't expect matches to last an hour like they occasionally did in NBT due to the smaller maps, having an hour long time limit would be useful for training purposes. I'd like to see a maximum of 45 mins at least though for proper matches, 25 mins is too short for teams that don't just zerg it in TDM on large maps. The vast majority of games won't last that long, but there's nothing worse than having a complex plan ruined by a short time limit.

I'd like to see more details on what 'Premium' means in this context. I wouldn't mind paying $5/month to be premium for the purposes of running private matches and reducing the queue time. Having to have the current 'premium time' would be irritating, but I'd probably pay it occasionally (I'm not interested in the XP/cbill boosts). I wouldn't pay for premium time + an additional fee for private matches.

Only using PGI servers for this sounds really inefficient. Why use up an expensive server slot if I just want to do some training with a couple of new players? Allow us to host servers locally, even if it's just for training with a limit on player numbers or other restrictions.

Being able to launch matches 12v0 would be useful for practicing manoeuvres as would having a respawn option.

Yeah, just like I am a black knight whiny crybaby that should have left this website a long time ago because I have nothing nice to say about this game anymore.

I don't think at this point of the games decline anyone even gives a scrap about assskissing PGI/IGP or not assskissing PGI/IGP? and truly most constructive or non constructive posts get deleted by the forum mods or sent to forum burypile about most topics and post that would help this game.
