OH FK NO.

I KNOW someone isn't trying to defend keeping Clan Tech absurdly OP as it was in A PEN AND PAPER GAME and thinking it would be a good idea to bring that level of sheer overpowered bs that broke EVERY iteration of these games ever. WHAT do you THINK would happen if Clan Tech was made stupid OP?! You think people are just going to keep playing dragons and quickdraws? NO YOU MORONS. Everyone is going to mass exodus to the blatantly brokenly good clan tech like in every other MechWarrior title. Making it 100% better in every way possible like in past games/ TT invalidates ALL the mechs, and weapon content this game has to offer in one fell swoop. Why would anyone use it?

"But herp derrrp Highlander, 10v12"

--IS JUST AS BAD AS AN IDEA. That doesn't solve a damn thing. What about mercs who gain clan tech? You ganna play 10 clanners v 12 mercs with all clan mechs? All you're doing is ******* around the bush making more convoluted band-aides that doesn't solve the problem. This game has enough half-assed fixes, it NEEDS solutions. You know, like -- maybe, (and call me crazy) nerf the most OP thing in video game history, ever? Crazy thoughts, I know...

Bringing Clan tech down a notch (but still superior to IS) is NOT ***** HERESEY, YOU PRETENTIOUS...

...

...

*deep breaths now*

*ahem*

Nerfing clan tech is a good idea. Keeping it as was per value in TT is the dumbest idea this community has vomited up.

PGI, make it so.

And once again, Highlander nails it on the head.

I think Clan Tech will be balanced very closely to IS Tech..
"OR", they will make Clan Weapons available for purchase and fitted to IS Mechs..
.
.
I will reserve any opinions until I actually see any of this content made available/released.
There are just too many variables at this point to make any assumptions.
Although, I see $$$ being a large part of where this is going.

Or they release equivalent IS weaponry...

Why not just keep Clan tech OP but allow all mech chassis to equip the tech? This is the way it's always been in old games. Absolutely no balancing issue here.

The balancing issue in that scenario is absolutely nobody ever using Inner Sphere equipment ever again, unless they're a space hobo/noob/roleplayer.

Fixing flamers? Impossible.

Actually this task is quite easy. Change flamers to a napalm-esque style application. Shoot gunk on enemy and it either already is on fire or catches fire after. Stop flamers from functioning briefly. Watch enemy burn for a short period of time. Wash, rinse, repeat.

To expect PGI to do something like that...mkay that's impossible.

But yeah it does amaze me how they think they'll have clan balancing when many other interpretations have caused many issues.

Take all your genetically altered , test tube made, clanner garbage back to Huntress where it belongs and stay there.

All kidding aside. I love lore as much as the next guy, but they are trying to make a balanced game for us to play. Its never going to be PnP or Canon exactly so get over it.

The only way you can keep it somewhat balanced is do what they did in the previous games, make the lasers hotter, and cost more but you still need the nerf the {Scrap} out of it or its the only thing people will ever use.

Hopefully at least they're planning to give us some autocannons that fire faster (even if they have a
damage/shot nerf to go with it).

I really wanted my Clan Ultra Autocannon 20 though ;).

All of this is just plain fish sticks.
Why are we even talking about Clanker {Scrap}.
Where is the Community Warfare aspect of the game?
I'm all for PGI making some cash.
But lets get CW rolled out first.
Seriously.

Like, um, EVERYTHING that we have right now, except perhaps the Medium Laser and PPCs as the sole survivors of the power creep revolution. Everything else will go in the recycling bin.

It then boils down to the missiles and the heatsinks. But, sadly, Russ said very early on he didn't want autocannons to be DPS weapons. So instead we have Rifles in the guise of Autocannons.

Which is really damn funny because thats exactly what players are doing. I love my AC/2 AC/5 Battlemaster because I can lay down a steady stream of damage. Which is a sad thing really because the game PGI is giving us is at odds with the way we play it.

Yep. Victor says every build I put out there is awful because I run on DPS setups to spit in PGI's face about that. Btw, try an LB-10 and AC/5 combination on a mech that can haul an AC/20, you'll like it.
