Over the year (it's pretty much only been a year!) we've had plenty of threads about best kill, best death, et cetera. But how many times have you downed another player when the stars aligned? A kill so good you just felt so right about it?

In my tenth match or so with my new 733C (built for brawling, to do my part against the wave of SniperWarriors), my team was 7-1 on Frozen. Last enemy 'Mech was a Heavy Metal capping our base (the "lower" one with the massive backfield behind it where no one ever goes...south?). I came up directly behind him as he was engaging some of my other teammates and hopped up on a low building 200 meters away. He had stopped moving (not shut down) so I had a full second all to myself to calmly drop my arm reticle over his head and drop a dead-center GR coup-de-gras. Point and click. It was the most perfect shot I've ever gotten in this game (though sadly I missed my chance to smugly deliver a certain movie line regarding Highlanders). I ended my evening after that round.

Wouldn't say it was my most satisfying kill, but I had a movie line moment that stands out.

I believe I was playing a BoomCat on Caustic. It was a bit into the match and my team had pushed down one side of the caldera. I turn and look laterally over the rim and across the crater just as 4 or so of the enemy crest it from the far side, headed straight for us. I drop my cross-hairs on the sweet spot just above center mass on a Cat and BOOM! Headshot!

I hadn't even had time to notice before firing, but I glance at the death spam and can't help myself. It's perhaps my favorite movie of all time and I really have no control over my next action. I move down the slope to get into cover and type the following quote. I've left out the pilot's name, but I'm sure any fan of the movie could figure it out.

"Listen up ______, law don't go 'round here. Ya savvy?"

Maybe he's heard it too much, but he didn't find it anywhere near as funny as I did. He seemed rather irate in chat, actually. ;)

I had one on Tourmaline just the other day that was a very satisfying "by the books" kill. I moved my atlas around an outcropping and saw an enemy atlas with it's back turned as it was engaged with my teammate. I lined up with my 4LL and gauss on his CT and fired. He twisted to spread damage, so I waited until he exposed that spot again (he still hadn't seen me) and fired again, coring him. I was then able to disengage and move on.

It may not have been terrible exciting, but it felt professional. In my head was a grizzled sergeant saying "That's how we do things son."

Mine wasn't a single kill, per se, it was more like epic teamwork with another teammate.

I was playing conquest on frozen peaks and saw my comrades drop like flies. I had gone through the tunnel to get objectives on the other side. There are 4 enemies on the other team (all heavies I think) and myself and one other teammate. I figure to go out in a blaze of glory in my Cicada. I engage them and then I see my last teammate - an Atlas - blow one out in seconds after showing up. The other team then starts to shoot at him, which lets me start to shoot their backs. The other team couldn't decide who to shoot, they just kind've shot at both of us. This Atlas and I end up taking them all down for the win.

That was the most thrilling moment of my Mechwarrior career.

A conquest match on Forest Colony was nearing it's end, and I had just finished moping up the hostile heavies with the rest of my allies. My tripple UAC5 DD-Jaeger had only 1 shot remaining, and a Jenner was capping in the river. When he came into view, I took aim and fired my last salvo. It hit, and destroyed him. Very satisfying, having expended all 200 rounds. Ended that match with over 800 damage, a personal best.

Mine was when I had just started the game. I was only partly familiar with the controls, but I already knew that assualts, particularly atlases, should be feared. Enter my trial jenner vs a rather unskilled atlas trial. I felt so bad for him because he couldn't even figure out how to turn his atlas around to face me. I saved him the trouble by running around the embankment and ran right up in front of him and started chatting with him with the chat box. I asked him "how's it going?", "how do you like the new game?", and then promptly headshotted him with 3 or so salvos with 4 med lasers. The hilarious thing is that he sat there and asked who was shooting him, and who he should hit to stop getting damaged. After he died, I apologized and told him that I destroyed him. For some reason he couldn't figure out how I was hitting him without alerting him with shiny lights hitting his mech, he just saw his paper doll flashing and turning red. Must have been some kind of invisible texture bug. Needless to say this was the only time I have ever headshotted a mech, and the only time I have ever soloed and took down an assault.

Actually this sounds kinda GOONish...

A light can take on an Assault any day depending on their loadout. Eg. Pure PPC, LRM boats, etc..
You can easily Headshot any mech as long as they can still. Moving mech is possible just a lot harder due to lag.

Even if its your standard Atlas pilot. (Make sure they don't have Streaks.)
As long they are alone it just so much fun to run around Alpha them in the back.
Run an hide like a little girl.
Peek around if he isn't look for you any more.
Repeat.

Shot a gauss through my ally, kill him, then that same gauss hit the enemy behind my teammate yo kill him too. It was awesome and crappy at same time

I thought that he was going to destroy me in one hit, so I decided to do whatever I did to kill him, even if it meant tricking him into looking for others when it was me all along. I haven't pulled this trick since this time because it is really not fair for a newbie to come and get trolled like that when he is just trying to get used to the game. Now, I just do hit and run and try to lure the enemy to my group.

Last game actually, I was in my 5K with a large pulse and 4 MG's, really beaten up (An arm gone, CT and RT both open).
I had to go back to base, there was a pretty fresh Jenner capping it, we were already about to lose (There was only one other player left, he appeared to be very new to the game).
We were at the end with the buildings on caustic, I swung around and managed to sneak up on the jenner, I knew in a head on fight I'd lose horribly so I took my advantage and aimed for the leg, using my laser and two remaining MG's. He responded slow and I was able to take the leg off before his mech had chance to pick up any speed.

In a head on fight I'd still lose but my laser was in my CT and his were in his arms, I used the oil rig for cover and aimed for his other leg by aiming under the oil rig, his small lasers got a few glancing hits but nothing major. He had moved to a point now where his leg was covered by his damaged leg (Which would put all damage on his mostly fresh side Torso) so I sweeped around and, rather luckily, his leg was cored out.
I used the rest of my MG ammo and my laser to finish it off.

I died shortly after, then they won via cap but still, that had to of been my most satisfying kill..

Though, there was one time the other day on Tourmaline where my MG's crit on a hunchies ammo on it's side torso, thereby meaning my spider's MG's did their job, that felt good but I still have to give it to the latter kill.

1-on-1 duel with an atlas in my HBK-4P...on caustic...and I won. Yes he was terri-bad and there is no way I should have survived, but I took on a fresh, untouched atlas on one of the hottest maps in a Hunchback 4P and dropped him. It felt fan-friggin'-tastic. Honestly, I think the only reason I haven't sold my 4P yet is because of that match!

This may not sound too amazing, but you have to understand the context... I currently don't have a gaming computer. I got married, happy days, best move I've ever made. However, I (my wife) decided that we don't have the money for a gaming machine... so few are the days where I get to actually sit down and wreck some 'mechs.

On one such occasion where the stars aligned, I was piloting my one and only 'mech, a hunchie (4H). I joined a game (tourmaline) and wouldn't you know, I had no HUD. None. Not even a limited targeting reticle or my damage readout. I noticed my team was mostly highlanders, poptarts ithey turned out to be, so I thought, well, I'm just gonna run over to the enemy base and see if I can cap it. So I snuck over, and started a base cap, it wasn't too long that a jenner came by and started making my life a teensie difficult. I luckily got my three ML's on his leg and he wasn't a problem anymore. I felt thirilled, I watched as my AC 20 ripped through his center torso and chuckled a little at my luck.

Then a guasscat rocked my world, reminding me to pay attention.

I thanked whatever merc gods were watching over me... I don't know how I was still walking, but my cockpit was flashing red, so I hid behind the fuel pump stationey thing and waited, he must have realized that he'd have to get closer to get another shot at me and did so... kind of a "ring around the rosie" game for a few seconds, then I stopped, hoping to catch him off guard for a second or two. Just as he rounded the corner I fired my faithful 20 damage AC, and he collapsed... I couldn't believe it. I got a cockpit shot. My incredulity was going to have to wait, because just then a stalker was cresting the hill. I decided it had been a good run and sat back, as happy as I could be seconds away from game ending PPC fire. Then the game ended - but not as I was expecting. I had capped their base. I won. Two kills! no HUD! I couldn't wait to chat it up with whomever was watching and when I finally was able to see the after action report, I noticed that I was the last one alive on my team and everyone else had left.

No spectators. Sadly, it's never as much fun when you don't get to brag after, which brings me to why I'm here. To congratulate myself and rub it in the face of my would-be murderers. Thank you. My non - sniper/poptart hunchie ruined your day, and at the same time... made mine.

Forest Colony, Assault.

I was piloting an Awesome 8Q with 4ppcs - 2 of them ERs. I was providing sniper support for my team. I ruined a light mech's day by coring the poor ******* in the back and tearing through enemy armor at long range until I spotted an undamaged stalker heading towards the cliffs, trying to cap us from behind. I separated from the main force to deal with him, and after a bit of dodging and torquing to avoid his arsenal, I eventually blasted both his arms off, leaving the hapless mech weaponless.
I then performed a merciful coup de grace, to put the mech out of its misery before turning about to join the main force. Unfortunately, it seemed that everyone on my team was dead, and three enemy mechs were still functional, although somewhat damaged and heading towards my position. Realizing I was in a pinch, I began a hit and run tactic, firing my ppcs selectively - and eventually coring an atlas through its center torso when he climbed over the hill.

Incoming lasers and bullets lacerated my armor, but I, as a pilot of an Awesome, am already experienced in dodging and weaving to spread out the damage, allowing me to minimize the injury while I continued to fire and chain fire my ppcs, eventually neutralizing a cataphract with a good shot to its side torso.

Only one mech left, and it was another cataphract, bristling with ACs and lasers. BAM! Warning lights started to show as the cataphract unleashed a hail of bullets my way, tearing my left arm off while the lasers continued to dance and burrow its way into my Awesome's armor. Using the hills as cover, I tried to bide a bit more time for my heat to go down before delivering an alpha strike to the enemy's chest. Seeing the enemy's armor disappear on my screen, I took a gamble and delivered another alpha strike - coring the cataphract just as I overheated, shutting down and watching the last enemy fall over with an explosive boom.

I ended the match with five kills, and nearly breaking 1000 in damage. It's times like these that I'm glad I'm a pilot of an Awesome.

I was in a CTF-1X outfitted with 2 PPC 2 ER PPC (Actually kinda a weird build back then). We were on Caustic, being flanked from both sides of the crater. I peeked over the left side and saw 3 assaults.

One of which was a barely scratched Atlas, walking straight towards me.

I had a bit of a lightbulb moment there, I went into reverse and lined up my crosshairs on his left eye. I fired and watched the PPCs fly straight through the Atlas's head. It looked exactly like the hit didn't register. For a split second, I was very disappointed.

Then the damage registered. Then the Atlas died. Then we all got curbstomped. IIRC I had the only kill on my team.

Playing a game of cat and mouse with a Raven, myself in my Jenner. We were both hurting, ct torsos red. Trading shots back and forth, twisting torsos to spread the damage. I did a jump turn and got position where I was behind him. So far we have been firing alphas and then juking back and forth. The pilot was good, but a little dependent on his Streaks.

He would show his strong side, wait for the shot, take the hit, and then return fire.

After the jump turn with me in firing position, he twisted to show his right side ... I toggled chain fire and swept a single laser across him. On cue he pivots to bring his weapons to the front thinking i was vunerable... Knowing this I smile and light up the remaining lasers and melt his core.

A Cicada in my Trial Hunchback. I was capping a point and had my back to the wall. Could not quite do much but get a few glancing blows with my medium lasers.

First pass, force myself to calm down, remember training video on Fatlas, turn back to wall and wait.

Second pass, glancing blow with med. lasers.

Third pass, miss completely.

At about the fifth pass, I now think I am done for.

Sixth pass, I still fire the medium lasers in token gesture.

Seventh, cannot believe I am still alive.

I expect the next pass of this Cicada to be my last, I take a deep breath, I focus, I ready my AC-20. Maybe this ******* will down my Mech, but I do not plan on making it easy for him/her.

I fire, more or less, without aiming.

I see a smoking carcass on the ground. I sit there, starring in awe at the smoke and the wreck, uncomprehending. I had not even aimed that AC-20, but here the enemy was, dead, by what was more or less a single lucky shot.

With a new found sense of exhilaration and appreciation for the AC-20 I head to the next capture point.

Running in my freshly acquired Cicada X-5 during battle on Tourmaline, I was heading from Theta to Epsilon that was being captured by the enemy.

The enemy finished the cap and headed towards me and I identified him as a barely damaged Jenner. He was trying to pass me on the right side, so I took an aim and fired 4 MLAS during approach and then swung my torso hard to the right to make a blind point blank snap shot with my dual SRM6 launchers.. We passed each other at more than 250 km/h.

The next thing I've heard was an explosion right behind me.

Kills just don't get more satisfying than that.

I was 1v1 against another Cicada, we were both circling and at one point we were both standing still, he backed into a wall, though the entire time he kept trying to take out one of my legs. We were less than 50m apart and standing still, he was barely hitting my legs. I cored him CT with 4Md Lsrs after 4 Alpha.

I just shook my head and "tsk tsk" foolish wanna be 'legger'.

I may have other kills, just that is the one that is most recent.

I have had a couple of one **** kills but meh, not as fun.

Assault Tourmaline Dessert.
I was in my Stalker-3f (Yes the lasery one)
Some jenner ran around and tried to cheapkill me, so i did my stop-drop-roll that i've just been taught.
Back into wall and start shooting at him.

Guy got overconfident and overheated.........yeah a laser-heavy mech saved by heat. I emptied all my guns at him, SSRMx8 MLx4 ERLLx2 all at once and he keeled over. Can't believe it worked.

My first light kill and still something I treasure.

My most satisfying kill was a loudmouth that worked against me even though he was in my team and directly caused my death. Not to mention his rude behaviour and abusive speach.

I told him that i would remember his name and i did.

Some days later we did drop against each other three times in a row. He always was loudmouthing when he did read my name, but refused to duel me. The first two matches i got killed by random enemys trying to engage him. But the third time i found him poptarting in his Cataphract some meters away from his allys. So i engaged him and finally killed him with my Trebuchet.
Best part was when he started whining afterwards about how cheesy my build was. ^^

Not the best match, not the best kill, but absolutely the most satisfying out of thousands.
