This won't be the first time PGI has reused old models for new mechs. They also use old "skeletons" sometimes, which is why the Centurion and other mediums are so tall (they stretched the body to fit the size of a heavy or assault-sized skeleton).

They're similar because they ARE similar, go look at an old technical readout.

I think the Griffin is one good looking mech! I just wish it wasn't the same size as my Victor...

They will also be 55 ton mech size.

All we can hope for is good hitboxes and other quirks.

Maybe. Right now the only mechs given the screenshots and loadout info suggests that there are a few salvageable variants.

It's the Wolverine-7K and, that's it I think?

The Wolverine-6R is already a worse version of the Shadowhawk-2H (and BOTH are phoenix mechs), and it has fatter legs.

It's just bad across the board.

Spider Sense Tingling

Spoiler

The Wolverine is going to be built a lot like the shadowhawk, big ct but just big enough side torso's to take some damage.
The Griffin is going to be the one that's more STD engine friendly with a smaller CT but you'll probably still have no issues running XL's due to PGI's fascination with CT mech love handles.

You should really take a look @ sarna, the Wolverine is the one with fat legs.

The problem with the Griffin is that it has Trebuchet/Centurion arms, this means that it can be crippled unless you are exceptional in a YLW or maybe the Highlander. The arms are obscenely large, and it could be argued that half of the weapons are on the arms... so that's a disaster waiting to happen.

I hated the Cent-AL for a reason...
