Ummm, the STK-M can't jump nor carry 2 x AC20... :P

P.S. There is also a Rule, although vague and often hard to interpret properly, but it states:

"You are allowed to return Fire ffs!" :D

Where in that qoute did I say it had JJ? I just said it was good because it can carry 2 PPCs + an AC. It would be even better if it could jump. And thanks for telling me to shoot back, never would have figured that out on my own!

Dual AC20 isn't OP. It's poptart or Jenner pretty much. 2xPPC + 2xAC5/AC20 and JJs and it's a viable build.

Doesn't need cone of fire. Needs DOT. ACs and PPCs with damage spread over 0.3 to 0.5 seconds. Not enough to make much difference in a brawl but enough to spread damage on a poptart shot. Poptarting still works - no JJ shake to ruin it but the damage isn't pinpoint. Leave Gauss but remove charge-up. Heavy, can't mount more than 2, there really isn't a viable dual gauss + jj mech. Plus gauss explode.

Better balanced game, better balanced build options. Inherently makes lasers better and missiles (slightly) more viable as they're instant damage.

Telling you, best thing that could happen to this game. Better than CW. A context for fights is fun but keeping the fights themselves fun is better. Also a stupidly easy fix - all it involves in 3 values in an XML file for 5 AC weapons + PPCs/ERPPCs, then removing chargeup for Gauss. Approximately 24 edits in an XML file. I could do it in Notepad++ in like 5 minutes, most of that time would be just finding the right field to edit. Considerably less work than writing the patch notes to describe it.

Just to point out the poster is pretty new. Everyone goes through this stage and as they get better they tend to back of the nerf warrior position.

Better to be nice to the new guys and try to explain it rather than ridicule them. I know several here like beating up on anyone they can target so they can consider themselves great forum warriors. Give it a rest, there will be no memorial built for internet bullies I assure you,.

This - maybe even reduce the 3x max range for ACs (other than the 2.
double the rate of fire for pulse lasers (and halve the heat) and up SRM damage to 2.5 plus increase SRM/LRM speed. Sorted until they can fix HSR.
Brawling should be viable then.

weapons have been borked from the get go besides lasers, which only need tweaking to fix. Lasers are pretty much balanced as is but direct fire pin point alpha ( which btw where told wouldn't be in MWO just like 3rd person, coolant, and a host of other {Scrap} they have complete lied about ) is still the name of the game. Until the time comes when weapons either "stream" their damage ( the best answer as showed by lasers ) or convergence is address it is the only game in town! God knows they can put out sales and new meks but screw CW, and and any sense of a game that should have been out a year ago.

Wait, what?
According to these forums, the new Gauss mechanic makes the weapon system unplayable. Obviously you are a deluded, deranged individual who is hallucinating the "Gaussmechs"

Guess I'm hallucinating my own mech then, I almost exclusively pilot a Gauss K2 and always get between 2 and 5 kills with around a 500 damage per match average.

Yeah, I sure am deranged.

30 damage is enough to blow off components on most light mechs and remove rear torso armor from almost any mech. Mastering Locusts was not fun, trust me. At first it was kind of a fun challenge, then it was just soul crushing after losing a torso or leg to one shot for the 50th time. Against an Atlas, yeah, 30 points isn't goung to ruin your day, but in a ligh or medium it can really hurt. Having a Locust lose a leg to one shot is not a big deal if you have 10 other mechs on the table, but it sucks when you only get one mech per match.

I've been a proponent of a cone of fire solution for sometime, but I think we are just stuck with what we have, which is a shame since it is a problem that could be mitigated in a number of ways.
Just like a single Gauss slug on TT.

I am for giving up some convergence but I do not have a problem taking 30 damage to one location cause I have been taking the equivalent damage for going on 30 years on TT.

it depends. Do you PUG or 12 man? Maybe its the ELO (The Cheese Bracket).

In PUGs and my games dont see jump snipers and i see variety of builds and mechs. Last Jäger i remember had Ultras with some LLs but dual 20s is pretty typical for a jäger.

In my view, If you're not in a light and you can't kill someone in a few seconds you're dead. The biggest weapons you can u slap on a mech with pinpoint damage is required.

I'd just like to thank all players who use meta builds such as AC/duel ppc.

I personally love my jaegerbomb, it is an entertaining ride. Thing is, it is a walking ammo explosion waiting to go off, ghost heat severely limits any thoughts of excessive alphas, and its not very speedy/maneuverable. I believe 'Glass Cannon' is a good descriptive, and more importantly it is a mod that is believable in the fluff and TT.

Poptarting is a viable tactic in my book as well, it really isnt the problem. The problem is in the core game mechanics, and the tactics are adapted to fit those mechanics. The biggest issue is rampant customizing of mechs to get that just right build, because "Stock mechs suck" when playing giant robot
CounterStrike.

We can outfit a mech ALMOST however we like, with no consequence to the chassis. Faction variants and mechs are openly available to all, no restrictions. That is what this thread boils down to.

That, and PGI's math frequently involves some '1+1=3' equations.

What this points too is that 2 things need to be fixed:

1. The ending of pinpoint / convergence...Torso weapons are locked firmly in place so they should not converge, and arm weapons where a shoulder actuator is not present should / would not be able to pivot...

2. The minimizing of shake / drift for the cockpit / aiming reticule. Jumpjets are meant for terrain clearance, not pop tarting...

To be fair, my PPC poptart quickdraw is the only dangerous configuration I can find... the 2LL 4ML config is OK...

It used to be alright

For a 60 tonner

Prior to ghost heat and the PPC heat nerf
