I want to like this also, but $240, especially so soon after project phoenix? All the PP mechs aren't even available yet. It's a bit too much, especially with no tangible advances to the game in the way of UI 2.0 or CW. I too could actually afford this, but I'm too suspicious at this point. The $500 mechs (as many of the things I've seen on the Star Citizen site by the way) are absolutely ridiculous and a pure cash grab.

I am all for this game and want it to suceed, but I think there needs to be some tangible advances to the core game before I want to shell out $240 more, even as part of Clan Wolf. Otherwise this, as others have said, just looks like a fast cash grab, even if it's just to take advantage of people's holiday spending. Not to mention the fact that it's priced higher than PP was (for 4 mechs it was $80, but now for 8 it's $240?). Seriously we need some firm evidence and commentary as well from PGI.

Edit: The top tier package ought to be $160 at maximum to match PP.

I've just noticed a PGI screw up.

the Black Hawk is an Inner Sphere design based off the Clan Nova which is an old old OmniMech manufactured in 2870.

Geezo, they can't even get the Lore right...

You mean they used the IS names for the packages? Pretty sure that was done on purpose.

I could say the same for the other side.

Can you think of a reason for it?

Maybe because the "hardcore" players know what's going on since CLOSED BETA.
Those who tested almost every build and those who marked ALL the meta stages for this game.
Yes, those players who kill the rest so often... we play the game more, we know each others... we are on the same skill bracket.

Ergo, your skill level must be below... by a lot.

Yet this is not about who's better or worse, is about the game itself.

you fail to understand the meaning of the words in my post DYMLOS2003 Perhaps you should take time to look them up and reason on PGi actions so far. then hopefully you will see the point. your a positive thinking person and that's commendable, but in life all of us are judged by actions and our words and on those 2 things we are held accountable. its no different here

I was expecting PGI to do a clan version of Project Pheonix.
However, I was expecting that they would have some info how how clan tech is going to be balanced/work.
PGI really should've waited on this until after they had that detail as well as how clans are going to work in CW.
Sure they would've missed out on the holiday sales that they may be getting for doing this now, but they also would avoid much of this rage.
And what's up with this unique module? This may be straying in Pay 2 Win territory with that.
So, until PGI answers those three questions, I'm gonna have to hold off.

To be honest though, I'd be much happier if they took the time they'd be spending on making these 8 mechs and spending it on U.I. 2.0, CW and new game modes. Mechs are nice and all, but Pheonix didn't do much to freshen up the game.

All this is, is "Hey the Clans are coming in 6 months, if you want them early you can preorder them now or later on. But yeah the Clans are coming!"

You don't need to spend any money or get mad about anything. Cool the clans are actually coming is all I got from this announcment.

I think the bigger question is

what reason do we have to buy the clan mechs at all?

No CW. Check.
No ui 2.0. Check.
No Achievements. check.
No private matches. check.

Righto. $240 so we can do the same thing we've been doing for 2 years in the jumpjet capable clan mechs that will be released. There will be the "shadowhawk" of the pack, while the rest fall into obscurity. Probably the summoner.

Get back to me when there's an actual clan invasion & CW in the game. Until then, $10 for all 8 of those clan mechs is too much.

Just redecorated fluff in the same gamemodes we have had until now.

Or, super OP, if you dont have a clan mech, you lose, in which case PGI just careens into P2W with no new features territory.

I have to agree. The saddest thing is that many of the comments here are about the expense... and that's it. I wonder if it's because people have just given up believing we'll get anything more than content or is there more to it.

This is the MWO forum
Just yesterday it was more or less intact
But for the past 24 hours it has been consumed by customer frustration
When a new purchase promotion appeared
Mysterious grab deal known as Operation Revival
Desperate and hopeless it struck like a hobo
Monetizing whatever scraps were left
But they made one big mistake
They done goofed.

Hmm? I've been here since the beginning. The other side of all the whiners are Kong, Goons, ect... they've always whined like this making it seem worse than it really is. I'm sorry you're easily swayed.

This is a good summary (and a soundtrack) to this thread.

I was ready to fight for Crusader Clans even in a Locust IIC if needed, yet I won't buy any of this clan grab deal mechs even for $1. No more money for you PGI. No matter what. Just die.

So, my bet, from this MORNING, was that they would offer a 4 mech pack (with variants) for $120 just like Phoenix. Kit Fox, Stormcrow, Summoner, Executioner. And they'd throw out the Wolf Reinforcements pack, for those who already backed, which had the Timber Wolf and Dire Wolf.

What did everyone else guess? :)

If we reward PGI, by paying these very inflated prices to keep grinding in a half-finished game with no meta, then PGI will just keep pumping out Mech packs, the next Mech pack will be even more expensive, and they'll continue to stall on upgrading the core game.

It's time to stop enabling PGI's lack of progress on the core game. No more spending on Mechs until we get lobbies, UI 2.0 and Community Warfare.

If most of us don't get suckered again into paying these stupid prices for more Mechs in an endless grindfest, then PGI will be forced to find other ways to entice us to pay. For example, progressing the core game and showing us there's a reason to bother buying more Mechs.

Some might say: if they don't get our money, then they might fold. I guess that's possible. But frankly, maybe it's time we took that risk. For the past year we've been spending money on the game in the expectation that they would give us lobbies and CW, and we've been strung along with promises and no delivery.

If we let PGIU continue to sucker us with more Mechs but no metagame, then we'll still be here next Christmas debating the next Mech pack for $400 and $1000 Platinum Mechs.

PGI is crazy. The prizes are insane. Looks like they are running out of money fast and want one last big cash grab before they turn of the game :)
