I'm an old fart. i started playing PC games back when Wolfenstein 3D was cool (still is) expensive games were wing commander and took ages to load of floppy disks. Back then you bought a game (£25-£35)and you got all the weapons and maps etc with it. Then came the dark days of add on's which cost about a £10 and gave you loads more levels weapons and other content.

Now i understand that times have changed sales/pricing/retail/DLC etc, but is it just me or did someone come up with the pricing structure for the clan mech packages after taking a BIG hit on a [redacted] and think to themselves "YUP THAT LOOKS ABOUT RIGHT".

i understand the game is effectively free (once you have some garage slots) and that you'll get 24 clan mechs some of which are hero equivalent. but when you look back at what your hard earned money would get you something seems amiss.

That said i remember forum posts when the phoenix packs were released and people said they cost too much. Look how many were sold. That is where the problem lies, its similar to video card prices, at the end of the day if people will pay the money it will perpetuate the excessively high prices.

if you can wait for the C bil versions then wait, i just look back fondly (?) at the days when a reasonable amount of cash would get you a lot of content without having your wallet hooked up to a vacume cleaner.

Lets see how much demand there is (i'm guessing there's loads) once people get over the shock.

PGI if you are trying to drive off your current base of players who are willing to support the game: good job.
I buy MC on a regular basis, I pay money to support a game I believe(d) in.
All this listed reason for anger are good.
NO:
Community Warfare
UI 2.0
In fact, all the stuff from Phoenix still has not been implemented.

Fix this before the rage on this forum says it all.

If you really think you'll have all the clan mechs they are promising by next July, then I have bridge to sell you.

They will produce the Mechs on time.

But they won't produce a reason to be interested in using the Mechs - ie, Community Warfare - by then.

So it's this super nice old suspension bridge, really a landmark of civil engineering. Which part would you like to buy? I still have 3 lanes left for sale, but if you want those you better hurry, they are limited edition after all.

You know, after a half year break, I decided to re-install mwo last week... In terms of the actual "play" of the game, it's worse than the bad game I left. It's more convoluted, there are more god awful balance ideas throw in, the players are even more childish, AND they are pushing a 240$ clan pack before almost ALL of their promised are even introduced into this game...

I remember doom saying about pgis greed back in the CBT when they essentially allowed people to buy their way into a "Closed Beta". This however is a whole new level of abuse... I hope you go bankrupt asap pgi, get sued into oblivion, and then are forced to sell the IP to a developer actually worthy of it...

In the end, good riddance MWO, I hope you fail sooner rather than later.

These are an obscene amount amount of money, how you can possibly justify the cost is beyond me.

I hope no one buys these, so companies realise you shouldn't extort your fanbase.

Nope missed the barn door by a mile.

It will be the expectations of having them. The "special Modules" scream pay 2 win 100%. Give PGI $500 for a gold mech and they throw in 2 modules that no one else can ever get. And they must deliver for the price tag - that is how it works.
And what happens when the Ferrari breaks down - The tantrums and expected entitlement it brings because of what it is.

again missed the door by a mile. The expectations that need to be fulfilled with special mechs and loadouts are a huge issue and straight to p2w. It is far more than a color and a high price I promise. There must be a return on the investment for it to have value and they must provide that value or it will be considered a scam/fraud.

They jumped the shark right into the a bomb on this one. They dont provide value (perceived) then it is fraud or they do provide value and it is pay to win.

Either way game over.

I actually take the gold mechs as an insult. It's insulting that they think we're that dumb or that shallow. It's a product that really is at odds with the MW fan base. It's straight from the world of bling iPhone apps and general chav-ery. (for non-brits: http://www.urbandict...e.php?term=chav)

If we understood what we were going get, NO ONE WOULD BUY IT!

That is why they cant tell us.

The bigger question is does PGI even understand what they are selling? or doing?

RELEASED GAME HAS:
  • Two major skills you can pay real money for that do absolutely nothing (Pinpoint, Fast Fire)
  • A major item in the game that does absolutely nothing (Command Console)
  • A whole series of completely broken weapons (Hello, NARC)
  • Absolutely no lobby system
The sad part is do you know the battletech universe begged to be used? It cries out for missed oppertunities.

For example, there's a ton of fluff about radar systems; about how people try to maintain their lostech radars, run with replacement sub-par ones, etc. Can you imagine if we had like a bunch of models of radar that impact the way it looks (or even operates)? I know that's the kind of upgrade I'd tinker with for ages.
Instead PGI has given almost NOTHING to spend money on except more 'mechs (and hilariously high weapon prices - A twin AC/20 costs as much as a Locust just for the guns!), paint (We only need once really) and cosmetic items that do nothing.

They didn't follow through on the HUD customizations, the external customizations, ANY OF IT.

They've given us nothing to spend money on except 'mechs and more 'mechs and more 'mechs in practice. They literally had dozens of white hat options. I only bring up the radar because there were hundreds of ways to go with this for each and every part of the game that would not have been much work.

I cant lie. I have been really enjoying this game. With all its little issues here and there and putting out money (that I said I would NEVER do...never say never huh?) I bought the Legendary and Phoenix packages (couldn't afford Saber) now you roll out this. ... ;) hmmmm I will probably buy (if I have the money) up to the Summoner or Dire Wolf levels.. but the rest?? What the hell are you guys thinking? When I was at the N.A. Launch and I got to talk to several of the guys I thought..."ok, there is gaps here but nothing too bad..." and you guys were trying your best to put out a good product for us all to enjoy for years to come. Then this comes along..$240.00 dollars (US) for the Top tier, and then something REALLY weird...a $500.00 dollar(US) Gold Level??? even if its 500 for the TOTAL thing and not on top of what you already spent....WHO has that kind of money in this economy? I just retired after 27 years in service (Army and Army Guard) and there I no way I could justify this kind of expenditure. At all... Guys, im begging you...please please PLEASE Think before you release these "news" items. Your shooting yourself in the foot, knee and thigh. (bleed out in less then 5 mins) Stop his madness and finish the game we all know you can do, THEN move on to things that people can blow money on. thanks

And may the source code end up in the hands of the community so they can wash away systems that were designed by Paul & Russ repeatedly bashing their heads into a keyboard and writing into the rules whatever results they can make out on the monitor.

IGP's company motto should be "Thar she blows!"

It's readily apparent now it's a whaling company. It's all they're interested in.
