And apparently all IGP/PGI got from sales of PP is, "hey, people thought this [PP] was a really good deal, bet we can increase the price by 50%, and people will still all buy it because they want the clans."

The price hike is bad, and the overall cost is enough to raise eyebrows, but this announcement comes at a bad time. See, they didn't just say the clans are coming in the summer (which we already guessed), they said they would be happy to take your money. People are still recovering from spending $120 on PP + Saber (which haven't all been released yet).

People are also touchy after the recent end-of-year developer update which basically told us that very little progress has been made on CW, and three months after launch, UI 2.0 (which was supposedly to be released a few weeks to a month after launch) is still nowhere to be seen, and we are told it is being pushed out, "as fast as possible, and will be buggy."

To top it all off, no one knows HOW the clan mechs and weapons will be balanced or implemented into the game to make them unique from the IS yet not an "I WIN!" button.

In summary, there is a great deal more here than an announcement that the clans are coming. Believe me, I WANT to buy the $240 package, and support the game, but I think, unfortunately, the time has come where many, even long time white-knight types, need a little more than faith in the devs. at this point. (Aside from the point that the price hike compared to PP is a bit hard to swallow.)

Well said.

The Refusal War was a name given to the epic Trial of Refusal between Clan Jade Falcon Piranha Games and Clan Wolf everyone else in 3057 2013 over a charge of murder leveled against ilKhan Ulric Kerensky someone at PGI. It was unprecedented for its scale; Trials of Refusal were most often invoked by single warriors or small groups of warriors. Even the attempt to block Operation Revival Phoenix by Clan Wolf some people in 3048 2013 only involved Cluster-level units in combat.

Uh, I get your rhetoric, but it's not an assumption when he's posted information stating that the Clan mechs are still not fully developed and a work in progress.

It is an assumption that they will be broken and P2W which is what the other guy said will happen.

Exactly you just want to create a shitstorm

We didn't start the fire. Nor **** the storm.

We didn't promise functionality and continually delay it. We didn't "launch" a game that had no depth. We didn't lie about design PILLARS and foundations for the game.

On second thoughts now the astonishment over the prices worse off I suddenly thought.... wait this is actually $10 a mech plus goodies on top and I readily pay out for mechs like the Boar's Head. Its also better value than my Founders collection. The wallet was opened and I finally found myself a Christmas present I wanted. :)

Not sure why people are raging about not having the opportunity of getting an insanely overpriced skin when they can get the pack, ignore the skins and lose nothing.

The only thing that gets me is I'd never want to shell out $500 on a mech without knowing I'd actually want to spend a long time in it, aka I never pilot the Locust or Thunderbolt P and prefer the Shadowhawk M slightly (but happily grind C-Bills in the P admittedly), Battlemaster I like the P. Without understanding the hard point system for clan mechs its impossible to even make a value judgement as to time 'd spend in the cockpit.

The Daishi is my favourite mech (excluding maybe the Behemoth) but ...... a reskinned mech I might prefer another variant of when I already have the prime 30% C-Bill version?

Is this a joke?

How can it not be a joke?

When I saw the Phoenix package I was like..."Well that's interesting, a good move considering the lawsuit resolution."

But this is just...You want $500 per 'Mech for something you won't deliver for six months?

...

You know what the funny thing is? If you asked people to pay another $500 for the things they've actually been asking for, you'd probably get a few suckers to do it.

I don't care how many 'Mechs you offer, or at what price. Colors, decals, cockpit items, camo patterns...

My wallet is firmly wedged under my cockpit seat until you deliver at least one of the things this community has been asking for:

Community Warfare
UI 2.0 (in a non-broken state)
Private Lobbies with Custom Game Settings

Lets say, for arguments sake, PGI made a ton of cash off this.

I would like to see that money invested in:

a.) AAA programmers
b.) AAA artists.
c.) Datacenter server infrastructure.
d.) Persistant BattleTech universe.

One can dream....

Yes the goons are gone and only like what 3 Kong members have actually posted here. So basically its the 99.99% of MWO who isnt the last 4 White knights of this game (dymlos2003, Heffay, Bilbo, and Ryvucz)

LOL. PGI are well capable of creating such storms on their own. It appears to me that's the only thing they are competent at.

Ever been in game development? Acting like spoiled children isn't the way to act, man. There is depth, it's the players that want to play the "meta" all the time. Pillars that haven't been completed yet? Yeah cause they are working on it? Have the taken a long time, sure but I have other games to play to pass the time and jump into mwo from time to time.

I don't throw a fit when something doesn't go my way and post pictures of me uninstalling a game cause BIG BAD PGI did something I didn't like. That's what a child does.

Seriously, enjoying the game and hating how the negative side of the community acts doesn't make someone a white knight. I guess you have to insult others some how.

They projected things. Not promised. They have been delayed far too long yes, but to claim they promised something is not right.

Also quite a few games that launched with no depth have done quite well. WoT had little to no depth on release and it is doing very well. LoL had about as much depth as this game at launch and had fewer maps. Progress takes time and if you want something to succeed you can't just pull support as that just helps it fail, not succeed.

:) you talk about trust as if we could just trust them... after all we got lies since closed beta :D on the other hand... this will tell you a lot about the direction of the game for the future and it will also tell you a lot about the business model.

Beign said that I'll go thru this:

Yes, is a free 2 play game.
Yes, we can just quit or drop the game (I already did).
Yes, can wait (and waste our time on a game that might have no future).

And well, i like a lot more ppl just wanted the game to succeed because we loved the game in the past. So well, at the end is all about PoV's right?
So sounds like you do not even play the game but come here to complain.

And I thought my Jester's camo was a big target on its back, I can only imagine a gold mech on the battlefield! Not buying now & definitely wouldn't take it if given to me.

Am patiently waiting to see what's in the update on the 17th, see where this game is headed by what's included.

Star Citizen comes to mind

Stop ******** this thread up with Star Citizen. This isn't Star Citzen, we're not talking about Star Citizen. We're here about MWO and what the players of this game think about this latest sale. You can't try to use others pledging to Chris Roberts as an attack and to slander people when you can't even back it up with proof that whoever you're talking to has actually put money into Star Citizen.

Hell, except for the stupid gold mechs I don't think most people really give a **** about the tiers in a way that couldn't be fixed just by splitting the mechs up into two seperate packs. It has more to do with the lack of any real new content in terms of game modes, CW, etc. Releasing this before you even deliver the product from your last sale also tends to leave a bad taste in people's mouths.

When most of the whiners are the same people? I would say they are the vocal minority. Kong and Goons are known to whine like this.

Now who's making assumptions. I wasn't a 'whiner' til they came up with the bs fix for the ppc/guass meta can you say ghost heat, I knew you could. The forum was full of constructive feedback on ways to fix it. Nope PGI decided to go with strange arbitrary weapon penalties. I even ignored the 3pv firestorm. But I have grown real f'n tired of soon. It's always soon. I couldn't reliably pick out kong or goon from a lineup. What I was is a FAN. But go ahead and keep whining about whiners(I.e. everyone with a different opinion than yours). I do agree with you though when you said it's optional, don't buy it. I didn't.

Also, note - 3 VARIANTS just like Project Phoenix. So, not true "omnimechs" then? I thought the clan mechs were going to be one (probably expensive) base model and then free-for all hardpoints...

Guess I was wrong?

Should do your research. PGI may be acting like money grubbing ***hats, but they're paying attention to the fact you can only swap SOME of the stuff on an Omnimech. anything hardwired into the base chassis is STAYING there. that includes your XL engines, eCM, so on. the diff variants have different Hardwired stuff.
