The arguments of "But Star Citizen gets away with it" are completely laughable but I'll play along to try to prove a point.

I have invested in Star Citizen's development, just as I did for MWO as you can see by my Legendary Founder and Phoenix Overlord badges. I am hopeful for a wonderful game based on descriptions, plans and updates from developers.

Now if Star Citizen gives us a dogfighting module, where you can do nothing but fly your ships around and shoot at each other, then leaves it in that state for A YEAR AND A HALF without adding new features or fixing problems, while consistently telling us that updates are coming but failing to deliver them, and on top of that expects us to keep buying expensive new ship packages, then yes you will see exactly this kind of feedback on their site.

I think this coment goes for me since i'm the guy who posted the link to Star citizen Packs.

I'm just trying to point that since this excessive prices (let's be serious those prices are around a whole month of salary or even more for most of people) seems to work, this may missguide other developers to believe asking high and unreasonable ammounts can work too.

It's not a Critic to Star citizen, personally i hope they can deliver the awesome game they promise but mostly pointing a bad behaviour that may encourage other people to follow the same way.

And they weren't even the first to do it. Didn't Path of Exile offer some ridiculous packages as well? 5 digit stuff, and SOLD them?

Not to mention that Kickstarter is LITTERED with games that charge huge amounts of money for early adopters. The video game generation has grown up, and we have deep, deep pockets now.

No, it is not necessary.
You could counter the 6PPC Stalker build by weapon size limitations.
Wow.
Suddenly there is no need for ghost heat.
Mind blown.

Except that affects people who don't boat. Which is an idiotic "solution". Ghost heat > your idea.

You know, I NEVER say anything about this game on the forums.

As a Legendary founder and an Overlord, I have played this game since the beginning. I have enjoyed almost every second of it and I have invested a decent amount of money and a large amount of time.

This is ridiculous! Pay now for content that is delivered in 6 months? Without any 'issues' being addressed yet? The way you guys are running things there may not be a MWO in 6 months. I hope this thread is a wake up call for you! I am pulling the plug and will not be logging in again until UI, CW etc... I'm tired of getting fleeced.

Up until now it was kind of like someone 'accidently' grabbing your butt on the subway. But this? This is a creepy drunk uncle babysitting you...

What i have not seen here yet is anyone say um Star Citizan folks who have maxed out Credit cards to get ships if not more in some case's. And all you can do is look at them in a hanger. We all know someone who has paid over 5000usd into that game just to put into persective. I am not defending the Pack prices here I feel they should be more inline with what the founders did but about 20 bucks a mech really is not all that bad. and the old saying goes you dont like it dont buy it.......let the flaming begin l

We still have that, It just takes skill because PPCs are Slower and including the charge mechanic with gauss. Most poeple use AC5 because of the non charge. That is why you see alot of Highlanders sporting this build. It will be used and abused if the players can just to get an edge!

Bad at remembering history AND bad at reading. You're a double threat!

After reading the OP and skimming the mech packs, a few thoughts.

1) June release date. Pretty sure 90% plus of the other features being raged about are scheduled to come quite a bit sooner than that.

2) $10.00 ish a mech is probably not terrible.

3) Gold mech package? You all realise those are aimed at people who make a LOT more money than they did the first time they rolled the dice in a TT game many moons ago. No one is forcing you to buy one.

4) Up to this point, EVERY SINGLE MECH, WEAPON, and MOD has been available for in game credits. (C-bills)
Other than the skin , and whatever the mystery module is, It is reasonable to assume all of these items will be available for c-bills.

5) You have a 7 month head start to bank mad amounts of c-bills. Be smart, Buy what MC you can afford. Use that mc to buy ........... mech bays! Clan mechs get released, go shopping.

6) Breathe people. The sky is not falling.

But surely the point is that they are adding content they can sell, rather than implementing the gameplay features that people want? We already have tons of mechs - we need CW, game modes etc

News update: They are working on it. From what it sounds like to me it is a heavy update for U.I 2.0 and CW (CW sounds like it will need an overhaul of the UI and U.I 2.0 sounds complicated [and they had to start UI 2.0 from scratch {I think}])

We already paid huge amounts of money as early adopters, twice.

How many times are they going to come back to the trough without showing any progress on core gameplay promises?

I doubt PGI is even bothering to read this anymore, but the Star Citizen comparison is fairly accurate. Star Citizen is largely funded by crowdfunding, and as such they are very, very open about what they're doing. You HAVE to show your investors what you're doing.

PGI is hardly doing that. They give us promises, and fail to deliver without explanation. Imagine what a corporate investor would do in such a position? Yeah...

And this riot is obviously not about the clan package. It's about the fact that they are asking for more money from their investors, while they have very little to show for the money and time they've already put in to the game. It's not all bad, as the game is in a very playable state and has many things worth praise, but they've promised us much more than what we have. You don't break your promises to investors.

I can't fault what you are saying and other than the gold mechs I believe the pricing for the clan "content" is very comparable with previous mech packs.

The problem is having the tiered packaging (it would have made much more sense to have 2 separate 4-mech $120 packs), no details on what is going to be a VERY big change in balance with the new equipment, and the fact that even if you buy 24 mechs you still get ghost heat, buggy hit detection and you can only use them to play team deathmatch or conquest.

They had a chance to make the Clan introduction really really great by integrating it into an existing CW persistent universe. What they have actually made just seems like desperation.

But the fact they prioritised clans over that tells you something, no? As you say, I'm sure it's on the way and I'm looking forward to it. If it arrives and blows everyones socks off then I'll unlock my wallet again in double quick time!

Completely lost my trust with this move. I bought the overlord pack to support putting features in, not more wallet killing packs.

They UI is not a 6+ month long project unless you have 1 guy working on it using an old Compaq Armada Laptop sitting on a stack of phonebooks in the corner. Yes UIs can be complicated, but if they built it correctly (modular design) then it takes some of the complexity out as things can be changed & updated quickly.
