$4000

i can fly to see my clan mates and eat/drink instead of buy 8 gold mechs

For $4,000 I bet you could have 8 actual 'mech minis plated in solid gold, too.

EDIT: How has this thread gone 169 pages without a Cash 4 Gold joke?

Nah, there'll be a clan add-on reinforcement pack as well for another $120 :(

I've spent more money on this game than I spent on the entire mechwarrior series to date (that's with buying some games twice). In a founder, phoenix and sabre owner but I'm not spending another penny until the game is finished. At the moment it's a half-baked death match grindathon with a poor selection of maps and no metagame. That's not to mention the lack of basic features like a working UI and lobby system.

Pushing premium content instead of making the game better has cost PGI my loyalty.

I simply cannot give money to this.

Phoenix was tempting for me but not to be, I had to prioritize certain things and I had a few issues with it. Those issues become more prominent with this presentation.

The CBill boost is only on one variant, that is similar to getting a Hero Mech I think.

If I had to rate the Mechs in terms of what I want first, I would put the Summoner at the top. But to get that, I also have to buy Kit Foxes and Novas. What if I do not want one or both of the last 2? There's a big problem, buy Mechs I may well not want to get what I like.

Now someone will come along and talk about the bonuses like the Mech Bays, you can sell off what you don't want, etc. Counterpoint, I can get Mech Bays already and a good number of the other stuff. Maybe it is a discount in the package but that is not the point. I still should not have to buy things I don't want to get what I like or even may need.

Same with the Phoenix Mechs. I knew the Shadow Hawk and Battlemaster would be popular based on their rep and became more so after their stats came out. Wolverine and Griffin looked less interesting to a lot of people so I tended to want to get those but would have to buy at least Locusts to do so, at the time I did not know if I wanted Locusts that much. Thunderbolt was interesting but I did not really want the Shadow Hawk.

Both presentations just don't sit right with me having to get Mechs I don't want just to get what I am really interested in. These packages could have been offered in a more flexible way that still would have made money and let people buy only the ones they were interested in.

Unique Modules - Are they really unique? Because that would be wrong. I can understand something being a package at discount from separate purchase, not only if you buy the package.

Warhorn - Same and WTF is it? Nothing in FAQ

Medallions - Same again, these were in Phoenix also but not in the game store.

Badges, Titles, Art - Fluff I have no love or hate for.

Big issue I do not see listed, what if someone wants these but plans to play for an Inner Sphere House, Merc Unit or Lone Wolf?
Will there be a problem?
It is supposed to be 3050, Houses and Mercs do not have these Mechs yet. Lone Wolfs using Clan Mechs, both Inner Sphere and Clan pilots, come later too. This is not explained in the FAQ.

Gold Mechs, these are also poorly explained. $500 for what, one Mech with exclusive skin or do you get the biggest package of Clan Mechs with 1 being Gold? Either way seems way out of whack with other store items, the most expensive Hero right now is the Boar's Head, that costs $35-$40. Even with the additional items, $500 is way out there in cost.

Between these package presentations, how Camo is handled, there might be 1-2 other store items, I think how these things are presented needs a fix.

You should have done a Kickstarter effort. I have 2 other computer games/sims I play, both recently did Kickstarter efforts to raise cash. The reward systems were very flexible when it came to some choices and both were hugely rewarding to everyone making them both popular and successful.

Please redo the store and presentations in the future badly, this really needs doing. Try using Kickstarter to raise cash. Store items needing a fix:
Camo offerings
Explanation about Medallions, Warhorns, Modules and if they will be in the store.

This does not mean I will not support PGI financially, just not through this offering. Just does not make sense to me. I would sooner just get MC and buy my own Mech Bays, special Mechs and paint. Not sure about Camo Patterns because I explained elsewhere I do not like how they are presented. Anything else, I will just wait for them to be offered in CBills.

EDIT - I 100% agree with everything from Point #3 on in this post including its relation to this topic.,

If the gameplay team had continued going into work this wouldn't be happening I don't think.

Yep.

It's quite clear.

They don't even give you the other variants.

lolnope. I've been waiting the entire time for the Clan mechs, I'll be waiting for the Mad Dog, spending my founders money on it, (Because I imagined after seeing the stupid hero mechs it'll be like 40-50 bucks, and well it is.) and then probably playing it twice then done with MWO for good. Sorry but you have to offer something real to do not just stupid expensive team death match on a few maps. I've been rooting for you for well over a YEAR. I've bought the legendary founders pack because I love the concept behind what you want to do. I love the idea behind it. And I want, so badly, for you to succeed in your game. But you are making it REALLY, really hard to like you when you do things like this. I mean this with whatever level of respect I can muster, but it's crazy. Very very silly, to keep doing this.

You know they'll offer the Mad Dog in two months as a Saber-esque reinforcement package.

Right around the same time they try to nerf Clan missiles by making them fire one missile at a time in slow motion or something, too.

Well this got out of hand really fast. May as well add my thoughts.

1. Questionable call dumping this on a Friday. It always works for political news that needs to be forgotten. Most people forget political scandals quickly, however messing with their entertainment is not easily forgiven. I submit the NFL replacement ref scandal from last year. Were they really any worse than the regular refs. No, both make terrible calls, but people felt that they were ruining the game. There was a lot of pent up demand for a Mechwarrior title and obviously fans are going to feel hurt if they feel the developers aren't giving the the correct amount of thought.

2. PGI over promises and under delivers. This is a recipe for disaster. It sets up expectations and when they aren't met, people feel like they are getting cheated.

3. I hate "free" to play games. Before MWO I had never played one or had an opinion on them. From my understanding free to play games thrive on micro transactions. Even at $10 a mech there is nothing micro about it. (Many people are obviously interested in the timberwolf, forcing them to buy things like the Kit fox, which will never be used, raises the price beyond $10 per mech.) Especially considering that if PGI shuts the game down you are left with nothing but memories. $240 buys a lot of different things. Fully fledged games, new computer hardware, dinner/beer at a nice restaurant, or even just saving is probably a better long term investment. Hell, dumping it into some speculative penny stock is a better deal. Both that stock and MWO have about the same chance of being around in 5 years. If the stock makes it, I'd at least profit as opposed to a garage full of digital mechs. PGI needs to pick up a microeconomics text and read the chapter about elasticity. Price a mech at $10 and I won't buy a single one. Price it at $5 and I may buy an Illya. Price it at $2 and I would have bought an overlord pack and that $240 clan pack. I would certainly have spent more than $10, and I am sure there are plenty of others out there like me. As it stands now I haven't purchased anything beyond the founders and am perfectly content with my decision. Make it easy to spend the money and you will likely make more.

4. The timing is confusing. You want me to pay today for something I may receive in June? Sounds a lot like Wimpy from Popeye. He would gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today. At least with the founders you got access to the beta and a mech right away at the elite and legendary levels. This seems almost like a scam. Pay today for something in the future. Ask pensioners in Detroit how that is working out for them. Gamers in general are a fairly smart bunch. Offers like this combined with failures to meet previous time tables feel like an insult. Understandably when people feel like they are being insulted, they become angry and defensive. You will get responses like you have received in the last 24 hours.

TL;DR: I have often heard that the customer is always right. This is a stupid phrase. After all, everyone can be wrong. It should be, If you want to make money, don't insult your customers. No business can buy goodwill, it must be earned. Clearly many customers feel insulted by PGI's offer.

Edit: Spelling

I have been here since closed Beta, if you look closely under my name and affiliation you will see.

Nothing.

If you look closely at how many real dollars I have spent since December 2012, you will see.

Nothing.

PGI taught me well and they taught me early, and I was listening.

Expect nothing.

By next April I will have prob close to 300 million C-Bill for any clan mechs, and I will have spent.

Nothing

So you only have 4 mech-bays? That must be very very boring.

I would just like to point out that the devs behind the MW:LL mod did not have to do ANY heavy lifting as the devs of Crysis had allready done that for them.. All they had to do was tweak some systems and give it a new "body"

That's like saying CryTek did all the heavy lifting for MechWarrior:Online and all PGI had to do was tweak some systems and give the engine a new "body" :(.

So no. Crysis (Wars) acts as a game engine as well as a game framework, giving the developers some basic functionality in certain areas, but with a lot of own code and heavy workarounds (in order to even be able to have Mechs in the game the way they work in MW:LL).
