You might as well just ask for a refund from support now. Take your money and wait for the Clan Hero mechs to come out. By then you will know which mechs arent trash. Out of the Phoenix mechs only 2 of the chassis are good. The reinforcement package had some niche mechs, but they werent worth the money either. Now PGI is offering Clan mechs at double the price.
Unfortunately, the Clan Package just isnt worth it. Save yourself some heartache at giving PGI 500 or 240 dollars. Just think of all the useful things that money could be going to. How many fully developed games that could buy instead of the hobbled together travesty that we have here at the moment with MWO. PGI says this is a group game and then does everything in its power to run off groups. The development pace is horrible ... what are we over 2 years behind schedule? Add in that the devs dont communicate or engage their community.
The only thing PGI gives us is continual reworks of the same systems. Then more and more mech sales. When PGI is making the cash grab you should just say no. Well, at least until they have created something worth your money.

Very tempted: it's designed like a honey pot after all, and actually very closely follows MC cost of the heavier assault heroes.
Let's talk about ala carte for a second...
So I can't afford $240 to get all the good meat out of the clan package system. No problem.
$55 for an only chassis is outrageous, and I'll cover why in a minute.
I can get up to 6 mech chassis from ala carte and this has a rolling discount to reward people buying more mechs this way and lets you maximize personal value (not a fan of the kitfox or adder? No problem), not bad.
BUT
$30 per chassis is low as it goes ($30 gets about 6500 MC), and the most expensive non-hero assault is 4395 for a 5S stalker.
Wait a minute, so I could get 39,000 MC on it's own, enough to buy nearly 9 stalker 5S? 18 mechs starts sounding like a monumentally epic deal!
However...
Not all of the mechs that you're paying for are dire wolves and warhawks, which means you're getting substantially less value on the heavy, medium and light clan mechs as you're more or less buying 6 assault class heroes with variants. Which wouldn't be so bad if the clan mechs will function in a fundamentally different way to how IS mechs run, which is a slippery slope into the caldera of Terra firma when you consider how bad the friction burn from the P2W crowd will be if the clan mechs were statted to fit their debatable RL money costs.
But then does it matter if I pilot a warhawk or any of the stalker variants? Stalkers I could even buy with in-game C-bills if I cared to grind enough? Doubt it, consider my eagerness firmly reigned in till nearer the time.
edit:
And lets not even talk about the golden mech skin of your choice: only recently came back and I know in my bones that this dead horse is currently being flogged with another dead horse.
Just as an FYI, even if you do the Ala carte you are getting 3 mechs for each price point. I know everyone only focuses on the 'Prime' variant because that gets the bonuses, but you are still getting two other mechs of the same chassis and the mech bays for them.
To put this in perspective here ill lay out exactly why i have been saving up the past three months to get the full clan package.
Price is 240. This includes the following:
90 Days premium time
8 Prime mechs
16 Standard mechs
24 Mech Bays
And of course all the other gobledeegook that we honestly at this time have NO IDEA what it is or does, badges war horns etc.
Now i will only break down what i can monetarily here, and granted these are just rough estimates, but lets try.
90 Days premium time = roughly 40.00 worth of MC
24 Mech Bays x 300 MC each = 33.00 worth of MC
This means that JUST the supporting facets of this purchase make up 73.00 of the price, leaving just 167.00 to cover 24 Mechs, which equals out to just under 7 dollars per mech or 1250 MC each. Now i know that this is a rough estimation, but to my way of thinking that is NOT bad per Mech.
Now as fot the Golden Skinned Mechs....LMFAO come on, even if someone handed me 5 Benjamins right now i wouldn't buy that thing. Just to dayum gaudy for my tastes....plus lets face it, EVERY single pilot is going to be gunning to have the kill on those things. Our team could loose 12 to 1 as long as we killed that precocious shiny mech!!!

I've got premium time from Phoenix package still and I haven't used it due to the limitations, really no incentive to spend the money on these.
What's a huge piss off is the a la carte version. $120 package you get 4 mechs, bonuses, and 60 days premium time.
4 carte mechs is $160 and 30 days premium time?1 You can get the ryoken package for $180 with 90 premium time and a bunch of bonus stuff plus 6 additional mechs....
Pricing is absurd in general now that I think about it.

So F***ing true.. We need a new developer and/or producer

There's still way too many unknowns to order up anything purely on speculation. All my Phoenix mechs generally suck, and I paid $80 for them. The two I use are variants, making me kick myself for paying real money for them. The Summoner has three hardpoints total? I gotta see the other variants to know what I can move from one mech to another before I consider picking one up.
And not only do I have to order on speculation, but if I don't pre-order, I'll miss out - and already have missed out on some of the other goodies. But even spending $30 for a Kit Fox that moves slower than any other light I have - without jump jets, ECM or an equivalent boost in armor just so I could (have gotten) 30 more days additional premium time... It is like paying $30 for a locust, barring MORE INFORMATION as to WHY I should buy the mech!
Still, $20 a mech, ala carte and I would snap up some mechs right now. Or, even if they took the primary packages, and made them $20 increments, I'd buy the useless Kit Fox and Summoner to get my Nova, Dire Wolf and maybe even buy the whole package.
I'm only writing here because I was going to celebrate a big achievement in my life last week, and I was going to do so buy indulging in one or more clan mechs. But fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, and I'm a sucker.
It's like buying a car, and having to ask the retailer, why should I buy your BMW over my old Datsun, when you won't even show me under the hood - let alone take a test drive!

The usability of Clan Mechs depends on the Hitboxes.... give them bad hitboxes and huge cockpits and even the tripple gauss Dire Wolf will never be touched

Arena Commander will be out by then. We can all afford to take a break for a bit while the Clan mechs roll out. Id rather buy the best dogfighter in Star Citizen than buy any of the Clan packages or go a la carte.

And you know how those weapons are going to work in practice? Please don't tell me you are basing that on that old post regarding them, this is PGI, that was their position at the time. Those weapons may be useless once PGI "balances" them.
